To expand more on why 5x3 is better for building destroyers - for a 4x2 either the enemy can attack the door from the corridor (which is the case in my entrance) or both the gear assembly and door is the same distance so you don't know which they'll go for. With a 5x3, entrance through the centre makes the door the closer object AND only be reachable from the track, so the destroyer will move towards a less vital part and likely get hit by a cart before causing damage. Especially if the door is high quality (or an invincible artifact).
Also, I put lead bars on the floor to increase fall damage in my pits.

I have to say, if you intend to use this for cavern layers 2-3 subterranean ambushes, they will eventually bring multiple adult rutherers and war jabberers, both of which are generally more than five times the mass of a platinum minecart and can stop one dead on collision, generally stopping both carts of a unit of two on the second or third collision, and are not displaced down the drop chutes. Though, each animal tends to die after three collisions, give or take. So, a couple simultaneous ambushes will easily get through a set of four grinder units. Unfortunately, either animal is also too big to be crushed by a bridge, the bridge will deconstruct if you try, or if they are on the bridge, it will not respond.
Also, fyi, gold has 90.3% the density of platinum, whereas lead has 53.0% the density of platinum, so I tend to make floors, bars, and often the minecarts out of gold. Yes, the molar mass of lead is heaviest of the three, but it is still the least dense. Using rose gold will stretch your gold farther, as it is given the exact same density as gold. Electrum could work if you're scavenging only a little gold and can't trade for it, it's at least better than lead at 69.6% the density of Pt.

Nice video! You do an excellent job of explain the complex mechanics of the game in clear and simple to understand ways. Love the series!

Great tutorial as always. I’d love to see a followup vid with a really big siege going through the grinder when you next get one.

In my attempt to antagonize the local goblins I think I've accidentally wiped out their fighting spirit. The few times I get sieges now their troops immediately leave while thieves get themselves caught in cage traps. :(

Sweet! Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question, how do you display the keyboard shortcut on the menu icons? It looks damn useful but I cannot find how to do it

Anyone know a good height distance to a pit to severely maimed a enemy? To allow melee squad to put them out of their misery

We did some science on today's stream. A 20 level drop will kill a semi-megabeast ouright. For unarmoured/weaker creatures like elves I expect the low teens/tweens severely maim, while mid-high teens should maim armored opponents.

25 z levels will kill everything, 20 kills almost everything although funnily enough goblins seem to survive sometimes
15 will severely hurt most humanoids but goblins might not even get injured
There's no specific z level that guarantees injury because goblins are very resistant to fall damage
Way easier to just capture them in cage traps and make an arena imo

Do the Irish not say "zed" instead of "zee"?

I heard both growing up, never really thought about it tbh.
