There's a new game like this called Fishlets. You should try it. Same sorta thing. You progress through tanks, beat the enemies, earn money, buy more fish and critters to help. Except it's a little more realistic, where the enemies are things that actually affect fish irl. And there's a different mode too where your goal is to breed rare colours and earn money to unlock all fish.
Genuinely so thankful for this video. I had quite a few little idle games I loved, that just really filled the void of that early 2000s loneliness, and it really made me happy to see this come up in my recs and refresh my memories.
