- Botswana is a landlocked country located in the south of Africa. For the most part, Botswana is flat with a few hills and around 70% of its land surface is covered with the Kalahari desert.
This country’s history starts more than 100,000 years ago, when the first people populated the region. However, in the past few centuries foreigners controlled it and independence was only secured in 1966. Prior to declaring independence Botswana was known as the British protectorate of Bechuanaland.
One year after they declared independence a huge area of diamonds was discovered at Orapa. Since then Botswana became one of the world’s largest diamond producers and it earns around one billion dollars a year from diamond mining. The official language of the country is English but almost all people speak Setswana and accept the culture.

Yeah, it's breathtaking. We were amazing at the scenery and landscape.

Thank you, thank you, for that beautiful video, and the background music just blends in and just watch the animals in freedom is a great pleasure in itself, and such joy with that little animal on the Chloe back is unbeatable, bye bye Jerome from Florida

Most welcome! Yes, one day we will come back again!
I am a second grade teacher and just showed my students this video. We are studying Botswana for our Festival of Nations Day. We really enjoyed it. It was very engaging and very helpful- we were able to gather a lot of notes:)
Great video. I always wanted to go to Botswana...
We didn't know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a beautiful country.
Thanks beautiful family....greetings from Germany
Thanks! I hope all is well for you over in Germany.
We loved Botswana we were there in 2019, a wonderful country. I hope NZ its treating you well.
That's so cool we loved Botswana! New Zealand's great!
You are so brave. You live my dream, to take my children and so show them the world and how other people live outside the United States... I think it’s wonderful what your doing. What an education to raise your children outside the “box”
Again i have to compliment you for wanting to be so near the animals, and night time it would be hard to sleep, and those lions must have their stomachs full as they were sleeping , and if they start to growl just keep away, thank you again for this beautiful upload, Jerome from Florida
Loved seeing Botswana - which places did you show us? Gaberone? And...?
We drove from Chobe National park and stayed at a place called Elephant Sands. From there we visited Gaborone and then made our way back to SA.
I would love to see Botswana. Thank you!
You'd love it. It's a country where the animals are free to roam.
Very nice Barcelona video and face makeup very good

You brought a lot of adventure to your selves and it was short lived, i live a lot of adventure here in America every day and things get worse economically every day as people get destroy every day becoming homeless,"" and how is that"? when people rental lease come up for renewal, they either pay a tremendous increase or move out, no where to go they become homeless, and as owners turn the apt.into condos.Jerome from Florida

can you tell me whats the name of the first background music ,i like it so much
Wow, that was very exciting it had me on the edge of my seat, i am giving some thoughts about going there one day, it's a great adventure, and very exciting for the girls with that cute little animal in there hair made me laugh so much., have a great time,By the way did you find out how the lions get fed, or who feed them, in the real jungle they go after there own prey, over there man must feed them!, very nice video Jerome from Florida
Thanks! The little animal is call a bush baby which I had never heard of before in my life. It was so cute!!!
We don't feed lions in Botswana, outside of private reservations. But game parks have their animals roam free in Botswana
Thanks for reply, when i was in the zoo i wait around for lions to get fed, and when they get hungry they wait for that meat of 6 pounds to be put into cage. Jerome from Florida
Nice!
Did you hear any lions roar at night? Once when I was at a zoo, I could hear a lion roar, and it was from pretty far away.
Apparently you can feel your pillow vibrate when they roar. Thankfully we didn’t experience that. 😳I would have been way too scared.
@@GrowingUpWithoutBorders Sounds like an exageration, but I think just hearing the roar might send chills down your spine.
I don't think I would have done much sleeping. How exciting that night must have been.
God I hope their is a toilet and a drink of water or you're stuck till morning 😁😁😁
Yeah 😂😂 they turn off the water for the toilets because if not the elephants come for the water. Crazy eh?!?
My fourth trip with you. Just started the video. Love that music, please post the name of the song/artist next time. Love Botswana! Most all US presidents, Bill Clinton, George Bush and others, not Trump, visit Botswana right after the election. Sort of like "you won!, so go relax for a couple of weeks where you're away from everything, and Oh! you'll be staying in a tent!
I spent 10 months all around that area, Caprivi strip, Botswana and Angola. Just stunning.
I must bring my family on such a trip. Thanks for sharing.
It says a lot about the country if all these presidents went there. We found Botswana to be amazing from the people we met to the landscape. It was really nice!
So is Prince Charles with his younger sons, after the death of Princess Di.
Lions 🦁 no I don’t think I be sleeping there .
Are u pregnant again mom. Great video as always. Good luck and gods hands on u and the new one.
No probably just bloated or baby leftovers. 😂😂😂
It was hard to me when I went to my first third world country and saw the roaming of animals. The difference is these are lions and such the ones i saw were just mostly street animals lol. That elephant was incredible
It’s hard to get used to. You’re driving then all of a sudden you see a giraffe. 😂😂😂
Third world huh
@4:03 Lions 😥
What is that ? If it was on me I be freaking out
I always wonder where their father is
Yes, Rhodes was a British ruthless imperialist.
Oh boy 😳
Mystery, who is taking the videos. There must be a fifth person.
There is :-) It's me the dad!
GUWB vids with chocolate +1 :))))))))))
