  • Despite some deliberate and focused efforts, we still managed to lose a caravan wheel in transit at 100kph ... and it was the second time it's happened to us

Great Vid, and timely reminder. I spent 35years driving trucks never used a torque wrench and never lost a wheel, BUT I notice that I'm getting a bit slack in that department on the van so I just checked it and while not loose some of the nuts could have been tighter. Time for an old fart to get a new fangled wrench. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers

You stressed going to steel rims; Are alloy rims no good, or was it just that they had the tapered lug nuts? Therefore assuming the lug nuts nip-up flat against the new Sunraiser rims.? Great information on all your videos. Many thanks.

Thanks Raws, After my experiences it naturally popped up more regularly in conversions, and when other people had or had heard it seemed to more often alloys. Steel rim nuts are tapered too, my only guess is maybe alloy is softer and tapered nuts with softer material arent best friends.

We were in a remote part of the Kimberley the 1st time, and an hour nth of Melb on the Hume Hwy the 2nd. We've had TPMS but found it unreliable, and never tried again
