How to know just how many spare wheels are enough - part two

Heading out into remote or outback Oz?? Just how many spare wheels are going to be enough?? Possibly no more than the car or caravan comes with from the factory. Being able to repair tyres yourself in the field is arguably more beneficial than carrying multiple extra spare wheels

It's always good to have someone who knows how to do a rim job when you head bush. I went out camping with a friend once and she didn't even know it was something people do. She’s a lot handier now and knows exactly what to do when we damage our rubber taking some of the rougher track’s outback. Would definitely always recommend the tools and equipment available to help-and don’t skimp on the lubrication! Honestly, the soap and conditioner work well, along with simple Vaseline or wheel bearing grease, but even spit minimizes the risk of a tear (slow and steady and gentle always gets the best result!) Valid point about the weight-a slightly heavier load is always better than carrying on with unnecessary rims. It's also worth spending a bit to get a pro to do the rim job for you if you haven’t done one before-- experience with these things makes everyone happy campers ;)
