  • Another step in our RC Rescue of this 2WD Traxxas Stampede!
    We install a RPM Hybrid Gearbox Housing and Rear Mounts.
    This part is not only made of the durable RPM plastic, but also has a thick aluminum motor mount to help dissipate heat.
    Overall, fitments was excellent, as we have come to expect from RPM. The instructions were a little difficult to get through, but the whole process is straightforward enough.
    Very happy with how this has turned out and the improvements I expect this makes to the truck!

    This is probably the only RPM part I don’t have on my stampedes. Looks like a great piece 👍🏁

      I was happy with how it went together for sure. That aluminum for the motor mount is THICK also.
      Compared to the full aluminum diff case you can buy, probably a good compromise.

    Hi mate tx for the video, I have one question you did not show in the video.
    My top motor screw (the 2 screws attaching the motor to the aluminium plate) rubs againt my spur gear ( I run a 90T normally) I tried 86T and same issue.
    I noticed you had replaced the top screw with a smallhead version to resolve this(with a lot of blue loctite?)
    My question is basically if this is the only thing one can do to solve this (also the original has a chamfer to fall into the slot)
    Does this work ok for you? tbh I find it quite bad engineering from the part of RPM if this is still the same after all these years , no revisions or anything.
    Looking forward to you reply, cheers!

      So far, so good. I have had no issues since putting it together.
      Good luck with your build!

    You should put the allow links on it that's a great upgrade

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  3 роки тому +1

      Ahh. I am not a fan for that on this truck. The links are a simple plastic and super durable. I don't want to add any breakage there!

      Ok! I switched cause it eliminates most of the wobbling and you can safely go faster

      That makes sense.

      Your right in staying with plastic links but go those and yes they will flex but never break!

    Did you dremel more room to move the pinion closer to your spur on the stock gearbox housing?

    How to take off the drive shaft

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  3 роки тому

      There are set screws near the gearbox that you must loosen. Then the driveshaft slides right off.

    Hey man. Know this video is older. But I just put one in my 2wd slash. For some reason, the back bottom part had a little gap between the halves and wouldn't fully close up. Is that normal? I don't want it to be slinging grease all over and burning up the trans.
    It was a really tiny gap but it still worried me a bit

      @RoadsideRC  Рік тому

      I'm sorry - I can't picture what area you are talking about.
      I'm guessing there shouldn't be a gap.

      @@RoadsideRC the very bottom rear where the gears are. Not the rounded side but the flat side corner on the bottom of the housing.

      I did not show it in the video, but it does have grease on the gears. Just a small amount.

    This piece is really a waste of money, it does nothing different than the motor plate and the heat dissipation is negligible at best. If you want something that makes a difference get the Pro Line or the new Traxxas 272R gearbox. Unless you absolutely must have your gearbox color to match whatever the stock gearbox is all you need. And if you are going to do all of this work you really need to do maintenance on your diff too, no reason not too. Surprised it wasn't mentioned since the diff in the video sounded a bit crunchy lol

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 роки тому +1

      When I did this, the 272R wasn't out yet. 100% agree that folks should move to that if possible. Seems MUCH better.
