Even though I haven't played this game since 2007. I still like to come here every December and listen to this classic christmas song from Final Fantasy. I'll always Miss this game. I wish that square enix would finally remake it in next Gen graphics then I would return. Merry Christmas to everybody be blessed in Jesus name FFXI 2003-2007
I resucribe to FFXI every December so i can listen this song and relieve the awesome memories I had in this game. Interesting enough... i met my real wife in jeuno.
It is Christmas day 2023, I have this playing on loop. I'm not sure I'll ever truly return to FFXI, even though I very much enjoy the game still, but it'll forever be a major part of my past. -Ladyofhonor
@@jenniferhart6504 Oh no, I have fond memories but absolutely no interest to relive the old days of FFXI. The issue with me playing FFXI today is you *need* a functional, daily static to feel like you're getting things done at endgame, and I can't justify the sub + wardrobe fees to sit around hoping I can find a static needing my job(s) or making shout groups every day. I basically just need the latest two events (I played hardcore until 2020/2021ish so was basically maxed out at that time) but the hardcores are either semi-done or have their group done already so it's tough to get into Odyssey and Sortie and I can get more enjoyment from other games than hoping things go right in XI that night.
@@Some.Legend I'm so glad there was a response here somewhat recent. I can't play the game how I used to anymore, but man this music just strikes something in me no other can. Bittersweet - but I wonder what all the friends I had back then are up to now?
Brings back some amazing memories. This game got me through many hard times "IRL". Not embarrassed to say that either. See you all in game. -Soichiro (Carbuncle)
I think this is really key. FFXI took such a long time to level you had a rich community at lower levels. Now all MMOs are designed to rush you to level cap when "the game starts."
Yea, this is what's wrong with MMOs today. There's no sense of community. Raids are instanced and so you don't even need to be in a guild or form a party to do them. The system does it for you. Too many mechanisms in MMOs today that pretty much ensures a community never really forms.
@@lordblazer What I remember of FFXI is not really having the time to put into having 30+ hours a week to devote to a game because of a variable hour job, and so I had to solo LFG just to get levelups. I'd sit for hours giving the occasional shout, trying to find groups for hours and hours and hours, sometimes get a group that breaks up 30 minutes after we start. Took literal *months* to get to the high 60s when I eventually started giving up on ever getting up there and being able to do anything. People don't have TIME to sit around for hours, or devote 30 hours of their lives into complex raiding schedules. People don't have TIME for other people to think they own your life because you're in a guild.
When I thought I couldn't like Christmas anymore. This game just made me so excited and happy durring my time off around Xmas break from school. One time my brother asked me. "Would you rather be here playing this or out with your friends?" Haha Id rather stay RIGHT HERE.
Nicholas Haile yea man being in jeuno during xmas was awsome!!! I remember those days. but if you ever get a chance. to go Beppu, Japan during Xmas. They do fireworks!!! it beats this. but you cn always put this on an MP3 player and listen no matter where you are in the world. Once I started seeing the world for real. I stopped playing FF11. lived in Germany, UK, Turkey, Morocco (in the sahara btw and did play FF11 music when trekking the desert), China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Japan. overall it was a journey but this game inspired to go out there and experience many adventures on my own.
Jeuno is the chill spot again. Whitegate got deserted around the time Abyssea went live 2 years ago around the time of your post. "Jeuno is the new Jeuno"
Since it is indeed that time of year again, FFXIV will have their own version of the Starlight Celebration, I did hear that the FFXIV Version of Starlight Celebration doesn't hold a candle to the FFXI version (to which I love), so I'll be muting the music, and putting on the FFXI version instead!
so true! I quit after they introduced Abyssea and the raise on the level cap past 75. In my opinion, the game was at it's best right when ToAU was released. FFXI, R.I.P. old friend......
After playing from 2004-2009 and taking me 3 years to get maats cap before raise lvl to 99 from 75.... man how I miss this MMOrpg and my many old Linkshells :[
Man I miss the Starlight Celebration (Christmas) in Jeuno! It's probably just nostalgia, but the music in FFXIV is missing the magic of that from FFXI.
AMX-014 anyone who wants to play ffxi like it was back in 2005 google ffxi nasomi or visit nasomi.com. really good free to play private server. hopfully see you in game!
Hell no its all still going VERY strong. Level cap has been raised to 99 ... lots of new expansions and content.... its still an awesome game. -player since 2004
Whitegate is in the Near East right? I remember when that became the chill spot, but you are right this song played in Jeuno on xmas back when Jeuno was the spot to chill. Jeuno also had an awesome market back in the day. You could make millions especially in 2006 during the great inflations.
@john2earth There's still the possibility of the old endgame being revived if the gear can be used as the basis for a Magian trial. They did it with the Dynamis relic weapons. Nothing says it can't be done with Morrigan or Usakane or Homam etc., gear. Still I do tons of stuff outside of Abyssea. I think there are a lot of people willing to do old (non-endgame) content, but you need to take the leadership initiative to entice them.
I started back in 2003. The game was quite fun. Was pretty solid, and a different approach which forced players into community building. You could not be a loner in XI. I haven't played XIV, is it fun? I might get it if it is. I remember xmas in Jeuno, this song would play omg nostalgia!! I really miss XI. Did they shut down all the servers already?
sold a juggernaut in 2007 for 64 million gil, sniper ring +1 for 30 mil, Emperor hairpin for 16mil, Leeping boots for 7.5 mil lol.. 2007 Xmas, the best time of my life.
@mhaid2000 Yes. FFXIV has no content other than grinding out guildleves, which you can only do a few of per day anyway, and whacking at the rare unclaimed mob for paltry experience points. But the biggest fail is that FFXIV lacks an auction house or a search feature, making it nearly impossible to group with people or buy anything. At NA launch, FFXI at least had those. Why SE released FFXIV without them, I don't know. They failed to learn from their experience.
Im currently playing final fantasy XIV but i gotta admit i do miss this game alot. I played it for soo long and this music is soo enjoyable and nostalgic every time i hear it. Makes me wonder, did square enix do a better job with XI than XIV? I always wonder that.
@@ctress33 as someone who's been in a part in probably literally thousands of fandoms at a cursory level, xiv might be one of the worst fanbases to ask this question to i dont think there's a single song they *dislike* or dont glaze up to high heaven lmao

+Adam Smith because there's no point to sustain support for a pretty old game. Console Support for PS2/PS3(compatible versions) and Xbox 360 ends next year on March 2016. PC will be main platform to continue playing FFXI
