      I wish all tree services could see this but unfortunately it is usually bad dealings in the past that keep them away from the firewood guys. Both of mine only deal with me after swearing off firewood folks years ago. It can take some time to build those types of relationships!👍

    Your tree guys rock, I need to find some like that!!! Very nice getting stuff perfect for you! I rarely have hickory, but that little bit I have now from the load I bought smells really good. I can smell it all over my property if the wind is blowing the right way 😂😂 I definitely think the no stack way is faster and easier. If I had a nice open back yard like you, or a field I'd definitely consider doing it too, but where I stack is alot of shade, not ideal condition for seasoning. Nice hickory splitting session. See ya next time 🤜🤛

    Red maple is “soft maple”. Dries fast and good campfire wood. As for the wood bins, it’s the way to go! I made one after seeing Chris do it at his new yard. The pallet walls are key. Just holds everything in and still allows for great air flow! And the time savings is huge! Just run the splitter and conveyor right into the bin!

    Good one. The wheelbarrows are looking a little used up. 🤭
    Splitter works great and nice and quick.
    Not sure about the maple, but I think the more air flow the better.
    I have not dig into my non stacked pile yet to see what it’s like. Once my trailer is repaired, I will start taking it home. That will be in a month or so. Pile was put there with the escalator, like yours, last September/October.
    Have a great day. 👍🏻👋

    From my experience with maple here in MI, it always gets some black specs on it no matter if stacked or piled. The black specs were not worse for me in the pile so I pile all my maple in bins that get full sun & wind all day everyday and it turns out great. I’m thinking you have the right environment to make piles work too. 👍

  • @stannelson2582
    @stannelson2582 7 днів тому +1

    Ok the maple question. In my opinion maple handles moisture differently. It seems to absorb it more than most wood causing it to go bad and grow stuff. If you have wood to spare you can try a pile. But if it was me I’d stack it in a covered shed and never think about it till I sold it. Or do a comparison pile vs stack for future content creation. But definitely cover the top of the stacked wood. lol. Good luck and have a great day!

    Looked like norway maple in the truck. Red and silver look similar but silver has more flaky long silver bark. Red maple has brownish red heartwood. Norway maple has bark thats more brown and kinda looks like ash/ boxelder bark. Hope we have a real winter this year. I have 60 facecords that i split last year, super seasoned fireplace wood. I think i have roughly 140 facecords split now. 110 of it is stacked. 30 face of boilerwood in a pile. Only have 60 full cords of wood left to split before i gotta log more this fall. I hate going in the woods in summer. Deer flies, ticks, mosquitoes and high water make logging our 80 acres of lowland woods miserable/ impossible. Snow,ice, no bugs. Winter logging is so much easier. Been thinking about making a giant bin for my 40 cords of ash i gotta split. Use A shaped bent hog panels i got free to make a wind tunnel thru the bottom center of the pile all on pallets. I want a conveyor to speed up piling but for now i just throw it all by hand. Dry cool days with a good breeze are nice splitting days. I don't have mold issues when i pile boilerwood in 10+ cord cones. Full sun and no shade. Short grass around it keeps the air moving. Could also put 2 pallets on the bottom if they are oak ones that u can walk on without them Snapping for more airflow

    • @Garrett572xpg
      @Garrett572xpg 3 дні тому +1

      @@outdoorsinthe608 No I don't wholesale. I sell to campers, residential fireplace heating wood, campfirewood, 10-20 split boilerwood customers , sawmill slabwood for boilerwood over 100 full cords a year delivered mostly in fall-winter. Usually split 100 full cords of hardwood fireplace wood and 40 cords of campfirewood. I deliver 90% of the wood I sell. I sell bundles and bagged bbq chunks also. Have a few restaurant and caterers also for smoking/BBQ wood. This year has been the worst for sales. Free dead ash everywhere so 80% less sales so far compared to just last year. Inflation and high gas prices are terrible

      Google “bulk fluid delivery near me”. Companies deliver automotive fluids in bulk and have a ton of totes. I would suggest to just show up and speak to the man in charge,…as speaking over the phone doesn’t really get you anywhere. Ask the moc about buying the totes that previously contained antifreeze. The ones with oil can get a little messy to consolidate. You may get a deal if you can afford to buy them in bulk. I paid $15 per for mine from an ad online. Eight loads of 26 totes helped set me up for an efficient firewood operation. Try that out, and let us know what happens.
