Andor is a political thriller and I like it for that. If George wanted star wars to expend as you say, I think it was a great choice. It is a series that will age well, I am sure.
Rogue one is by far one of my favorite Star Wars as it leads right into A New Hope. They did a fantastic job with it. Andor has the same flavor and style. Love that timeline Andor , Rogue One , New Hope
Meg recommended watching the animated shows and I took her advice. I was not disappointed. Some of the Clone Wars was very good and I liked all of Rebels. I wasn't thrilled by the prequels, so I just ignored the animated stuff. It was my loss. But, yeah, I was pretty pumped for the sequel trilogy. It wasn't the greatest but it was a lot better than a whole lot of nothing.
I loved Rebels more than Clone Wars but then decided to see Clone Wars again but chronologically instead, boy it made a big difference. Do love both animations pretty equally now.
I'm very much looking forward to Andor season 2. I loved the first season. Loved the darker, grittier political thriller behind the scenes aspect. There's no reason SW can't have both adult stories and also do things for kids. It doesn't need to try to appeal to everyone and end up working for very few.
We need a Luthen prequel series. Who are the ghosts with whom he shared his dreams? What made him do the calculation that resulted in him realizing he's damned for what he does? I need answers, Meg! May the Force be with us all.
I still hope Luthen, Vel, Bix and others survives the Andor series. I would love to get to see them in a series of how their fight continues in the shadows of the Original trilogy.
Despite the current plight of Star Wars as an IP this universe is the greatest modern mythology in the last 50 yrs. Period! I seen "The Dune" series yesterday and it's ok. Nowhere near Andor's masterclass quality and/or "captivating writing".
@@SwaggerLikeUz Don’t judge Dune by the movies and TV series. It’s a literary franchise and the books are infinitely better than the movies or TV series.
We love the Maker! ❤ George did have some input into TFA as Keira was his original character who later became Rey. JJ Abrams has said so himself that he and Larry Kasdan consulted with him. And that came before Rogue One. George Lucas was at the premiere of both of those films. After that Rian Johnson didn’t consult anyone and was given free rein over TLJ, which I obviously thought was a mistake. And then Collin Trevorrow also didn’t consult anyone when writing the original scripts for TROS. And when it was handed over to JJ Abrams again, there was a lot of “input” and things he couldn’t change in it already and he was given very little time to turn it around. He didn’t get time to consult others and I’m sure at that point they wanted nothing to do with the whole thing. Larry was “done” with it after TLJ (he hated that movie) and how it affected Solo and of course George Lucas was also “done” by then.
Since both the original and prequels trilogy were political (GL was very anti-Vietnam war and you can see that in the OG trilogy) I can't see why the maker would have any issue with Andor being political too. Andor may be grittier than the source material but like you said, GL wanted Disney to expand.
You said it perfectly towards the end of this clip Meg, "Star Wars at least needs Tony Gilroy". If Disney are smart they will get him to do more Star Wars content down the track.
If he wants to. It could be he doesn't want to get back in. If you had an established career, didn't need money or prestige from Disney or Lucasfilm, would you want to jump into this meat grinder called Star Wars? It's the closest thing to a thankless job there is in Hollywood. Think about it; when's the last time an A list actor jumped into one of these things and it benefit them? Jude Law is about to find out. If they're not already signed on or need the money, I don't see these people getting involved anymore. Not right now any way.
Andor and Rogue One are about what there was before there was "Hope" so it needs to be dark and gritty. It really works because the original fans have grown up.
The fans that keep up with sites like this one as well as others is probably less than 5%. Most Star Wars fans watch the content and feel like it was just a fun show. The only ones wringing their hands and splitting hairs are the 5%ers that feel entitled enough to say what’s Star Wars and what isn’t. Every video now days is just an analysis of what George thinks or what’s Disney doing wrong or etc etc. I’m glad I have not forgotten how to enjoy a galaxy far far away.
It kinda kills me a bit to hear this. I mean this is so obvious to any fan of the saga that you would do that (scout troopers!) and the fact they needed to be told that by the maker tells me they really don’t have any handle on what is needed to make Star Wars great! Hope George keeps more of an eye on things going forward.
I wish that George Lucas never sold Lucasfilm to Disney, it's been so severely mishandled at times ever since then. I understand that he has pointed out that he is getting older. Also, I have read that it isn't easy for him to finance the films. But I'd be willing to bet it's quite possible, and could be done. He wouldn't have to be the actual creator of the content. He would only have to approve the content. If Lucas could have simply surrounded himself with a competent team he could have acted only as his company's CEO. Things could have been so much sweeter, likely less of it, but sweeter. I'd be more interested in quality than quantity.
Nobody is asking about this, but will we get a cameo from Felicity Jones at the end of Andor? Jyn Erso did star in Rogue One. Felicity is the British actress that SW fans don’t feel annoyed with unlike Daisy.
I never was annoyed by Daisy but by Ray. And even that character was interesting in EP7. There was so much potential in the sequel trilogy and it’s actors. *sigh*
