I think the difference is he never WANTED to make a Joker 2. It was a finished story. Joker 2 seemed like a big middle finger to the studio because he had to go back and come up with new story that he didn't want to make. Andor 2 isn't the same. Its finishing the story that he does want to tell from season 1.
Take heart Meg. You are not alone. There are a large number of mainly silent fans that feel the same way. Sometimes things have to hit bottom before they start trending upwards.
Star Wars fans don't know what rock bottom is (Star Trek Discovery S1 🤣) and I would say the JJ-RJ films were the creative bottom with longer repercussions that 'The Acolyte' as it wrecked the future timeline after 'Return of the Jedi' and is three whole films, not one season of a prequel show that if you don't like you can just ignore. Right now Star Wars is doing good, mostly good and great TV shows, with 'Andor' S2 and 'Skeleton Crew' coming, and I think both will be great. If you didn't like 'The Acolyte' then fine, but it's just one season of one show in a very big franchise, is it really the end of Star Wars? 😂
@@bjturon not a Trekkie, but a nerd and have NEVER heard Trek fans as vocal about their disdain over project after project failing. I know Trekkies were pissed over something more recent. Maybe Picard 🤔or it could be the Discovery show you’re speaking of. But I remember the 1st JJ rebooted Star Trek and remember it being pretty well received. I thought that movie and its follow up were what landed him TFA. Again, not a Trekkie, myself. So, I can’t speak as a fan. I watched the 1st of his rebooted Trek films and it seemed fine to me. But I literally know nothing of the universe. I watched the originals as a kid when they were in syndication and a couple of the movies made in the 80’s and they just never did it for me. Me too. I have rewatched every series. Some more than others. I’ll never rewatch Acolyte, I don’t think. I’m one who LOVES Mando S3 and the Rey trilogy is growing on me so I seem to have a more open mind than most. But yeah, no.
I think not.. ANDOR SUCKED MAJOR COCK!! and was nothing relatable to STAR WARS!!.. Space Lesbos with AK-47s!! Only a retard would cheer for that depressing trash and worthless murdering hero searching for his worthless space stripper sister!! GARBAGE!!!
Plus Gilroy half a plan, a storyline leading up to the events of Rogue One. Makes a huge difference. Plus I think filming in UK, away from any daily or weekly visits from Kennedy and/or Iger made it even easier for a producer. Being away from HQ obviously made a difference
I agree, the Acolyte was so disappointing. I was "lucky" in a way because I saw Star Wars in January 1978 as a young adult in my final year of school, so I didn't get picked on for loving it. In fact, all my friends who saw it were adults too, so it gave us something to talk about. And later during my work life, I often mentioned I loved Star Wars, and they thought it was amusing and we had a good laugh. Because they were adults, they understood that liking any kind of art is subjective, so they accepted it. Quite looking forward to Skeleton crew, and REALLY REALLY looking forward to Andor.
Meg, you are hands down my favorite SW UA-cam channel. When the content isn't great, you've been honest but never negative and toxic. I have always liked your positive attitude and I don't see where that has changed. I'm also a relatively positive long-time fan (since 1977) and have also been beyond disappointed with the recent direction of SW including the Acolyte. Keep up the great work and try not to let the haters get you down. Thank you, I appreciate you!
I remembered when Star Wars toys were discontinued, I was a little kid and I cried. Now we complain about how the stuff that comes out isn’t perfect, my how spoiled we are
Joker: Folie à Deux's failure wasn't due to a lack of studio oversight; it stemmed from a lack of passion. It felt like a cash grab, with Todd Phillips seemingly not all in on the project. Fandom Wire is worrying needlessly; Tony Gilroy's talent speaks for itself.
People saying “you turned to the darkside” are very very wrong. Criticism is expected whether the product is good or bad but you are never overly critical and most definitely are always respectful of different opinions. Your vids are about the only ones i enjoy watching whether i agree or not you are always fair and kind to the product and fanbase. People need to learn not everyone will agree 100% of the time and thats a beautiful thing as long as it stays respectful.
Mourning a loss is a perfect way to describe it. Yes, I was one of the kids at school that was horribly made fun of for loving this franchise. The O.T. movies and characters were honestly the only friends I had for a large part of my childhood. Then, to have all that crashed against the rocks of people that didn't know anything about the universe they were creating content in, to have the simplest things get thrown out for the sake of special effect visuals, to disrespect and turn into failures the characters that I grew up loving and looking up to. Now, I still get people making fun of me for not hook, line, and sinker loving every new thing that comes out. For not accepting that Luke is an attempted child murderer, for not accepting that the Jedi were corrupt child kidnappers, and anything else they push off while breaking even the simplest concepts the Lucas era was built on. I've never tried telling people what they should or shouldn't like, but they sure feel free in telling us. Funny really, they call us, the ones that don't like the new stuff toxic, but in my experience the Disney defenders are the most toxic people ready to attack no matter what you say that they don't like. Baseless claims about why you might not like something getting thrown at you like daggers and doing everything they can to hurt you behind their keyboards. They can be just as hateful as they claim us to be. Gone is the era of fan debates. That's how so many end up in echo chambers groups. While they are never a good thing, they are the only space where you don't get attacked and are accepted. Same can be said for everything in life.
Meg, I am one of the original kids who was mocked for being a Star Wars fan, in the early 1980's, when all we had was the OT, the Holiday Special, the Ewok movies and cartoon series, and the Droids cartoon, plus weird Marvel comics. Everyone called me things like nerd, geek, and so on, before those words became mainstream positive traits, and humiliated me for preferring to read over playing football (American football and UK football), or any other sport (but I got strongly turned off American football after the ball hit me so hard in the eye, on the point, that I had to get glasses.). A lot of that followed me throughout my entire school years. In Year 7, I tried to fit in by going aggressive in gym class and doing the sports, as well as in how I spoke with people. They liked it, but I felt like I had sold myself out, so I gave up the charade. (A lot of this might have been better handled, had they known I was autistic, but the testing didn't exist then.) Star Wars has been one of the only major constants in my life that hasn't betrayed me, and despite these rocky years, I still appreciate it all (except Visions. Artful presentation, not much substance.). I don't think that will ever change. I will be honest, I have been a bit disappointed at some of the negative tilt your vids have taken lately, but everyone has their dark times. I get it. That's why I am standing by you, even if we disagree about The Acolyte. 😁 ETA: Doesn't mean I think The Acolyte is the best. Just that I didn't hate it.
Yeah I think a lot of people give the Acolyte crap like its the worst. When Disney has produced much worse projects (Sequel Trilogy, Book of Boba, Etc.) Doesn’t mean it is a good show just weird that its been regarded as the most divisive.
A few of the actors have said that they think Andor S2 is better than S1. Yes, I know that’s hard to believe but I guess we will find out in a few months!
Big love and hugs sweet sis 🫂🫂🫂💞💞💞 You are so spot on! And they seriously left out TBB3? WTF! That was MY SW moment for '24! And we need a show with Echo, Rex, Emerie, Howzer and Gregor-that is a story to be told! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The same people who said "Andor" was boring and not Star War's 2 years ago are now the same cynics trying to justify their original prejudices. Tony Gilroy finished writing season 2 a year ago & said It's the best work He's done. Tony mentioned "this isn't season 2 rather it's the second half of a novel" via 24 chapters. In Tony Gilroy I trust, F____ the haters who don't appreciate quality works! 🤣
Look I know art is subjective and all. I went to school for advertising and took enough production classes to know what is technically good and bad writing, editing, acting and production. I've done it professionally. The fact that some people still vehemently defend Acolyte as "good" literally blows my mind. I don't know if its because certain people have grown up on tiktoc or youtube or non-traditional storytelling media or have never been exposed to actual literature and "Cinema" classics. Its like they speak a completely different language than what is taught for the past 60 years of creative media education. They are like the people that look at a banana taped to a wall and are like "Yep I'd pay $6.24 million for that".
Spoken like a true fan. What gets me there is so much material that they can use, years, even decades of stuff, but it's not the Disney way. They need to have a good long look at themselves to see what they've become.
“Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Airman's Odyssey I think Andor 2 will be great because they shrunk it from 4 seasons to 1. Hopefully they kept only the best stuff.
Disney is smart by giving Tony Gilroy, responsible for the greatest Star Wars hits outside of The Mandalorian in the Disney era, free reign to do whatever he wants.
After the absolutely sublime season 1, they would be fools for doing anything else. Apparently someone in corporate there sees some value in smart people with attention spans liking the show.
I so excited about Andor. That is the best thing in 2024 is the filming of season 2. It is disappointing that Bad Batch was not on the list, but it was a Dvisive fan that created the list. So of course, Akolyte was going to top the list.
I agree with you. Acolyte was the only show I was super excited for when it was announced. I can’t express my utter disappointment in the final product 😞
Anyone who liked the Acolyte meant that, that was the best they thought Star Wars could offer. For the rest of us who didn't like the show understood that actually Star Wars could go much further. Whether it's due to a lack of intellect, life experience, low expectations, morals, ethics or something else I have understood that there is a current gap in film making as a whole that I have a feeling might never be the same again especially in Star Wars. Keep up the Awesome Work Jedi Master Meg!
Your first sentence is ignorant and prejudiced. Just because someone liked the acolyte does not mean they think it is the pinnacle of Star Wars writing. Not trying to be negative, since you got that handled.
So pumped of Andor season 2. I think as a fan base we need to be super positive and get the views and good feedback (if it's as good as we think it is) known to Disney. Gilroy, Favreau and Filoni to head the rest of these Star Wars projects.
One thing I love about you videos is the passion you pour into them. To me, it is clear that you love and are protective of the galaxy far, far away. You have always found good even in less popular shows. With the Acolyte, you still discussed positives, but there was noticible sadness in your voice. It felt like you suffered an, 'Et tu, Brute?' moment.
9:12 oh. And I love Andor! It’s a hero before he’s good at being a hero and I love watching how that happens, knowing where he ends up. Looking forward to season 2 so much. Especially with the way they’re devoting arcs of the season to one year at a time and how that leads to ANH.
I’m not too worried about Andor s2. I think less studio oversight is exactly what’s needed. I know how you feel Meg with Star Wars being an escape and finding a home there. Star Wars has been there for me during some of the lowest points in my adult life. I thought the Acolyte was OK with some really great moments. But I also get the disappointment you and a lot of other fans felt. For me the highlight of 2024 was far and away the Bad Batch. The last season was so good.
I grew up when Star Wars first came out and was the inspiration for an IP I started in the late 80s. My disappointment in the late Mouse SW inspired to recreate that IP I created back then.
Tony won’t fumble it. I’ve heard each arc in the 12 episode series jumps a year until the final arc that leads directly to Rogue One. Also, loved TBB final season and Tales of the Empire.
You didn't go to the Darkside, Meg. Corporate Media is the Darkside. We loved the innocence of independence. We are in the dark times, but as hope springs eternal, we have to believe that better times are to come. May the Force be with YOU.
I don't read the last chapter of a book first. I wish they would do an original. On the other hand, i think Keanu Reeves would be great as young Dooku.😜
We need Gilroy to work on the movies. Filoni hasn’t proven that he can write well. Neither has anyone else in the Disney era. Gilroy is the only one who can put out star wars content that might actually be the best stuff on tv. People were actually talking about Andor season 1 and house of the dragon season 1 in the same breath. That’s incredible and is just not possible with someone like Filoni in charge.
It was the fandom that put a nail in the coffin this year. And they'll reap what they sow for their behavior. The Acolyte, taken as a mini-series murder mystery set to sci-fi. Is a decent expenditure of hours. I've watched and enjoyed lesser quality seasons of assorted sci-fi. Let someone else expend their time trying to keep a gate locked. I just like watching sci-fi flicks and yarns that don't require to much preconceived lore. Everything doesn't have to be a franchise.... original Star Wars wasn't one when it first dropped. No one had to know everything about everything, then have it approved by the internet as acceptable to begin with.
If I am a star wars fan type. I reckon I'm a live action star wars fan. I don't watch animae much. There's already too much cgi and cheap green screen shirt in live movies and series to begin with.
You certainly haven't joined the Dark Side, you merely gave your honest opinion about the Acolyte, shared by the majority of the Star Wars community, which was based not on ideology but on the quality or lack thereof of the writing, acting, and production of the show. Unlike many other Star Wars channels recently, I find your channel to be positive and optimistic and I truly enjoy your content. I share your hope that Skeleton Crew will be the fun and entertaining elixir that Star Wars fans can get behind and bring us together. Also looking forward to Andor season two and the Mando & Grogu movie!
Joker 2 is the biggest orange to compare to Star Wars apples. In a proper debate, I'm supposed to understand where you're coming from regarding The Acolyte, and you're supposed to understand where I'm coming from regarding The Acolyte. It WAS a Sith oriented show, contrary to your disdain for it. It wasn't a Jedi or Witch oriented show. Revenge is one of the finer-paved paths to the dark side. I really liked The Acolyte, and the ONLY two things I didn't like about it were the chant and the episode run times. Everything else was plausible and possible. It would rank 5th on my top 5 things to be thankful for. The top two spots would both be from The Bad Batch season 3. Third would be Tales Of The Empire, and fourth would be announcing that, moving forward, Rey was going to be the main focus. Without that announcement, they may as well figure out a way to make episodes 7, 8, and 9 disappear from existence. You are the great Megalorian, the Star Wars hostess with the mostess. You are my favorite Star Wars UA-camr. Keep up the great work!
I have to thank one of my friends for pointing me to this video. I’m Kaki Olsen, the author of the article you really thoughtfully disagreed with. You make some really good points about Bad Batch season 3, which I still need to finish. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t include it. The other is that I decided to only do five entries and that left some things out. I also didn’t connect with that show as much as I wanted to, but still feel that it has been well done and is intriguing. I’ll finish it and have thoughts about it later. I’m sorry you’ve been accused of turning to the dark side for not always liking things. Part of fandom IS critiquing what doesn’t resonate with you and many of us do that. (Boy, could I go on about The clone wars!). I’m subscribing to your channel because when someone went, “Hey! She talked about disagreeing with you,” I heard six minutes of things that were really insightful points. 🎉🎉. Thanks for talking about where we have differing opinions.
You have no place writing articles about Star Wars, when you had not even FINISHED, the BEST Star Wars content we got in 2024, Bad Batch Season 3. The fact that you listed The Acolyte as the #1 thing for us to be "thankful" for in 20204 is also proof that you are just another shill. Who was slighted by the fact that Star Wars fans were so turned off by Disney, Kennedy, Headland, and Stenberg. That they are terrible political plants who only cared about their own personal agendas and stances, and were NEVER actual cared about Star Wars, Lucas, and the timeless classical nature of the fans. On that note, in the world of cancel culture how does some like Headland even have a job. She knows all the BS that Harvey Weinstein had done, and stood along as he did his terrible actions. To only facilitate her own gains of power in the industry.
I agree that the Acolyte was the final straw for me in a way. I used to be excited for anything new from being a kid, when the Thrawn trilogy came out, to when the sequels were announced. I didn’t hate The Acolyte, I just didn’t care. I found it boring and it didn’t do anything for me at all. I think the hate it gets is a bit unnecessary. That divisiveness and hate had really turned me off Star Wars and I never, ever thought I’d say that. Hopefully Skeleton Crew is decent. Keep up the great work Meg!
I think Tony Gilroy so far, is working with his story group, who are all also very talented. In addition, I think all the crew under him have a much better understanding of Star Wars than he does. The lesson is, hire the right people and you don't need to micromanage them. Same went with Alien Romulus --- if Fede Álvarez wasn't fed so many studio notes, we wouldn't have those awkward and obligatory fan service moments, which don't seem to fit in the film.
I am not exactly sure what can Disney make that should fill us with hope.... I understand that a lot of people liked the Andor, but content wise it was a huge missed opportunity because they did not go with the estabilished lore from the Star Wars EU . I mean Disney just makes up everything as they go on. Most of these stories and lore cannot even connect to the rest. Before or after disney. Does not matter anymore. Which makes this even worse because there are bunch of guys at Disney who read those books. Probably Witver and Filoni as well.....
When it comes to bad batch the final season was a bit of disappointment but it was still a good show in fact a great show. The other problem is that it's a cartoon and people will always say it's a cartoon, it's for kids not adults. It was for both adults and children. Most people can't get across their heads that cartoons can also be for adults and I ain't talking about x-rated and all that but a good storyline and a good show. Now you have to remember that Star wars stretches between the generations and the older generations are the ones that are saying cartoons are for kids or unless it's some x-rated show. The younger generations understand and know that these cartoons can be for adults just as much as for kids it can be like a normal live-action TV series.
If they had made the Acolyte a 15 episode season and focused more on the Sith's philosophy, training, history, using the dark side... it would have been very different for the best. Instead, it was rushed, hoodwinked us into thinking it was all about the sith, and threw in some woke crap which is the bulk of why the Fandom was extremely divided. I would love to see the glory days of the sith and why they were feared to give us more contrast between the light and dark... the Acolyte was not the way.
Meg, Just know your content is really meaningful and is amazing! It's ok to feel down, but know you are still being strong by continuing to post content. That is something to be proud of. Thank you for still making Star Wars an open place for fans/people like myself. May the force be with you, always!
Imagine if only the Acolyte would’ve happen in a different galaxy… maybe the one Ahsoka is at, or wherever Lira-San is… another Jedi order… things would’ve been a bit better
I resonate with the mourning you mentioned. It’s good for people to describe what’s going on for them rather than the tantrum-like diatribes and attacks we see from some online that mask an underlying sadness. Mando reignited my love for the franchise. I found a home again. I bought action figures for the first time in almost 50 years. It kills me when ppl hate on season 3 because it somehow feels personal - it’s probably my favorite. It feels like Disney felt they had to change gears after backlash to S3. It’s depressing. I admit I’m addicted to SW. It is my escape, as you eloquently describe. I suppose when ppl mess with our drug of choice, or threaten our supply, it can get ugly. I suppose this is why Acolyte bombed so hard. They not only created unlikeable jedis and unrelatable themes, they seemed to relish in it. Like they wanted US to change. But that’s not why we watch.
Just rewatched the last trilogy last week, and despite all the critics, I think they was ok. What sort of strikes me is that I've seen the first 2 trilogies like 50 times, and the last trilogy 3 times now, and I doubt that I want to watch it more than like 4-5 more times in my overly estimated like 35 years I have left. Like it feels a bit empty and like set on blurring established lines in the universe. Like maybe they had too much of a budget to really focus on exploring the depths of good vs. evil or whatever. Like I struggle to remember the subtle things, that are all so clear from the first two. The whole Acolyte thing got a similar feel to me. Like I think it was ok, with some really good parts, guess I just didn't get to caught up in the details and left a lot of it to the benefit of the doubt things. Still I think it might have been unwise to flag this whole agenda on the low, as I didn't really think it was as gay as they made it out to be. Like Star Wars is a huge franchise, and I think it started out with a really good and huge story that translates well to so many aspects of real life, however those amazing visual effects and creative ways of doing the impossible, really made it something special. In this day and age, it takes a lot to stand out in the genre, so just throwing Disney money at something, will get you the most expensive people, who rarely is the best or most hard working IMO. This whole self entitled thing is really a huge part of the Star Wars story as well, like the force wasn't really that balanced to begin with, as there can only be 2, however there was so many Jedi. Think it translated well to real life, how police will often be bothering good people if they struggle to find anyone worth bothering. To sell a Sci-Fi in the late 70's, you needed that hunger to go the extra mile in terms of quality and good story telling, but with Disney money, they can just fix it in post. Just wish someone had told them that you can't make a good script in post. Like drama points are not selling Star Wars, drama is important, however there never used to be drama for dramas sake, just the natural "this town isn't big enough for the both of us" sort of thing, and that is more down to well written action. I haven't seen the last Bad Batch season, but I'm really looking forward to it. I think that new show will be pretty good because it looks like it will offer more of that adventure thing that the last trilogy felt a bit short on. It goes more for the attempt to do fan service by piling up known places, characters and cameos, than moving the plot to new places. Like they literally went to the "unkown zone" or whatever, still the 2 CGI places we saw felt sort of plane and overdramatic, while the "far-far away" in Ashoka series felt like a whole world, just by one pretty deserted planet. I am grateful this year for the Pip-droid, Bad Batch, that they put out Andor on blu-ray (even if I would prefer DVD to match my collection), that they are making more new shows and keeping stuff cannon and definitely first place, that I have been able to live in the hope almost this whole year, that Ahsoka would be like a long running show with the potential to have more seasons than even clone wars, even if it's live action, they sure could afford it to make up for the patchy start they had on some ends of the franchise
The Acolyte left me crestfallen; I went from really hyped from when it was announced to completely confused and frustrated with decisions made in it and that ultimately, it’s CANON. They killed any goodwill for High Republic era projects.
Joker 2 tanked because it was an unnecessary money grab. It was always intended to be a one shot exploration of the character. Lucasfilm's current leadership is like a cancer to Star Wars content. The absolute less involvement they have in a project, the higher likelihood that it will actually honor the brand. Lucasfilm thought Leslie Headlund was a good fit. I wouldn't trust them to produce a cup of coffee.
I still don't get all the hate toward Joker 2. I get what Phillips was trying to say in the movie, and it was fine. Good as the first? No, but still enjoyable.
The worst thing about the mess of the Acolyte is that it wasn’t an honest mistake, it was intentionally made that way. It was a massive F.U. to the fans by Kennedy, encouraging Hedland to make “her Star Wars” … which she knew was very different from *actual* Star Wars, which should always be in George Lucas’s conception of the Galaxy far far away.
Andor is the only reason I am still paying for Disney+. And I completely fail to understand, why all the other Star Wars projects are such ... stupid ... creations in comparison. As a fan, what do I want? An environment thats believable, and respects its foundations of especially the Movies 4-6. A story where you don't think "Ok, we have a script for the action scenes. Can now someone please come up with a random story to connect these?". A serious tone, where humor works in an "understatement" way, just like the original Han Solo role perfectly described. I have lately started reading many of the Star Wars books, especially around "Thrawn" - and hell, how much better are these stories compared to all the crap Disney is throwing at us lately ... apart from Andor ^^ I am dreaming of a Tony-Gilroy-Version of the Thrawn-Trilogy ... but sadly, this will never happen.
SW leadership has not changed unapologetically. They have not learned pretty obviously, so we can only expect more of the same. Having hope in these people is foolish and until the fandom completely rejects garbage when they throw it at us and the money runs out, they will not change. Time to stop soft pedaling with the criticism. They DESERVE it.
Meg, it's just one show. The gut punch for me was 'The Last Jedi', it was soooooooo bad in soooooooo many ways, I gave up on the franchise and didn't come backtill, Mando S2 during COVID. The Sequels were just so "Rock Bottom", 'The Acolyte' wasn't the Bee's Knees, but it so much better than the Sequels 😂
I’m sorry to hear you were picked on for watching Star Wars as a kid. The opposite was the case for me, because I was taken to see the Originals when I was at school and everyone thought it was cool. It makes me wonder why there was such a differing opinion between the two trilogies, where one is super cool at the time, and the prequels gave a different reaction. I mean there were two decades separating them. Anyway, sorry you had to endure bullying, because there isn’t much I hate more than a bully.
There's zero actual reason to think that Andor Season 2 is going to be anything other than good. Regardless of what any UA-cam FUD-spreaders might say.
Phillips was very public about how he did NOT want to do a second movie. Hells he only did the first one, because he had that VERY NON COMIC BOOK STORY he could shove the character in with out much issue, and milk the franchise thusly.
That’s exactly what it was.
Precisely! Tony WANTS this story told and it shows

It’s fan-fiction, not canon.

Now we complain about how the stuff that comes out isn’t perfect, my how spoiled we are
I really like how you give an honest straight forward review
I guess I can be grateful for the great things we HAVE gotten. Mandalorian 1-2, Bad Batch, Rebels, Andor.
She has tilted to the MAGA-Incel side of things. If that ain't the Dark Side, I don't know what is.
Andor 2 will hopefully be amazing.
💯
The 2024 Highlights for STAR WARS are: The Bad Batch, Season 3, episodes 15, 3, 11, 7, 6. Those were the Highlights of STAR WARS for 2024.
Bad Batch season 3 was excellent! We really need a third Clone show with Rex, Echo, Emerie, Howzer, etc.
Bring in some of the Visions episodes and make series.
(A lot of this might have been better handled, had they known I was autistic, but the testing didn't exist then.)
Star Wars has been one of the only major constants in my life that hasn't betrayed me, and despite these rocky years, I still appreciate it all (except Visions. Artful presentation, not much substance.). I don't think that will ever change.
I will be honest, I have been a bit disappointed at some of the negative tilt your vids have taken lately, but everyone has their dark times. I get it. That's why I am standing by you, even if we disagree about The Acolyte. 😁
ETA: Doesn't mean I think The Acolyte is the best. Just that I didn't hate it.
Same here 👍
Yeah I think a lot of people give the Acolyte crap like its the worst.
Andor is not a Sequel. It’s the second season of a pre-planned TV show.
Well put Meg. Acolyte changed us all. Lets hope Andor can re-establish the Force. Less politics, more pew-pew and galaxies for, far away
Spoken like a true fan.
What gets me there is so much material that they can use, years, even decades of stuff, but it's not the Disney way. They need to have a good long look at themselves to see what they've become.
I am looking forward to Andor 2. And if Meg and Theory like Skeleton Crew, I will watch that too.
I like all Star Wars shows.❤
I like all Star Wars too, but Accolyte is at the bottom of the list alongside Ep. 8 of the sequel trilogy.
“Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Airman's Odyssey
I think Andor 2 will be great because they shrunk it from 4 seasons to 1.
I'm very sorry about that incident of course
There should be an oversight committee, ran by fans, to investigate where all the money went for the Acolyte. Which equated to a CW quality series.
I think Andor S2 is going to be much similar to Rogue One , with more elements from SW than the first one, with more action, is going to be amazing
I find it hard to believe anyone actually liked The Acolyte for what it was.
9:12 oh. And I love Andor! It’s a hero before he’s good at being a hero and I love watching how that happens, knowing where he ends up. Looking forward to season 2 so much. Especially with the way they’re devoting arcs of the season to one year at a time and how that leads to ANH.
So many people discount Lucasfilm animation, but 2024 gave us Bad Batch Season 3 and Tales of the Empire both worthwhile Star Wars stories.
Honestly I prefer you being more honest.
At least the Acolyte gave us Qimir. The coolest character in years and we will never see him again because the show had be be terrible around him
I grew up when Star Wars first came out and was the inspiration for an IP I started in the late 80s. My disappointment in the late Mouse SW inspired to recreate that IP I created back then.
Star Wars was the ultimate escapism ... then Disney took over.
I'll always root for SW, but hope is becoming more scarce every year.
Lets hope Gilroy is not stupid and does not let KK to ruin his reputation. If KK wants to interfere , he should simply walk away.
Tony won’t fumble it. I’ve heard each arc in the 12 episode series jumps a year until the final arc that leads directly to Rogue One.
Also, loved TBB final season and Tales of the Empire.
Tony Gilroy Is not the other Director. Not the
same type of show at all. Thanks Meg👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I think everything will be alright.
And that's very nice of you guys
You didn't go to the Darkside, Meg. Corporate Media is the Darkside. We loved the innocence of independence. We are in the dark times, but as hope springs eternal, we have to believe that better times are to come. May the Force be with YOU.
I’d so love to see the introduction to the U-Wing being introduced in Andor Season 2
I liked the Acolyte, but the third season of the Bad Batch was better. I do not think you have changed, I love your podcast.
Bad Batch season 3 would be my #1. Love that show.
Bad Batch season 3 WAS Star Wars 2024 for me.
This sounds so much like Star Wars Theory lol.
Except like 10x less angry/whiney
I agree that the Acolyte was the final straw for me in a way. I used to be excited for anything new from being a kid, when the Thrawn trilogy came out, to when the sequels were announced. I didn’t hate The Acolyte, I just didn’t care. I found it boring and it didn’t do anything for me at all. I think the hate it gets is a bit unnecessary. That divisiveness and hate had really turned me off Star Wars and I never, ever thought I’d say that. Hopefully Skeleton Crew is decent. Keep up the great work Meg!
Keep strong, people who are reaching out to be hateful are the ones who fell.
100% agree with you Meg about the 2024 list rankings and about how you feel about the Acolyte!
Thanks Meg! Have A Good Weekend
The Acolyte did so much damage to Star Wars, it might take several years before I ever pay a penny towards Disney Star Wars content.
THE ACOLYTE!?!?!
The cancellation of our Disney acct was like that. Sour and faithless in the franchise
No I just thought you were a bit down. But
for all of us life goes on. 🤷🏼♀️ Always Hope!
🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂
Meg,
Just know your content is really meaningful and is amazing!
You are amazing I love your comments about the shows.
Bad Batch was excellent. I miss it.
Tony Gilroy should be LucasFilms leading director and writer. They should be signing him for a decade worth of movies.
Donating all my Star Wars collection to a toy drive. Disney killed it for me, hopefully the donations make kids happy this Xmas.
Andor best Star Wars series in a long time.
Giggling over the thought of Andor 2, the musical!
1. Barris
2. Ventress
3. Bad Batch survived
4. Live action Rebels cast
5. Little Leia
I hope to see amazing adventures in Star Wars Andor Season 2.
I still don't get all the hate toward Joker 2. I get what Phillips was trying to say in the movie, and it was fine. Good as the first? No, but still enjoyable.
Acolyte was fine, nothing can be worse than ep 8
The worst thing about the mess of the Acolyte is that it wasn’t an honest mistake, it was intentionally made that way. It was a massive F.U. to the fans by Kennedy, encouraging Hedland to make “her Star Wars” … which she knew was very different from *actual* Star Wars, which should always be in George Lucas’s conception of the Galaxy far far away.
I’m not worried about this… not at all.
I loved the acolyte.
The Fans Diskuss if Lukes lightsaber has 3-5 screws. Or wich Robe for a Jedi is suitalble . Star Wars Need more Professional Setting and Dramaturgie
I love Andor season one. It is about time Disney hyped up the good shows. I do hope Skeleton Crew does. It well it looks good. Here's dor a good run
Exactly
Joker 2 in a nutshell was Hollywood Studio greed!
