i know a league youtuber that sounds like this dude
@@UncleStrolen No it's obviously not. Look at the channel name.

This felt like a tedtalk
Where are the jokes?
@@brucedao2360 LOL
Cus the crowd was absolute shit! Dong was so hilarious, i laughed my ass off the whole time, just like i do with all his UA-cam league videos.
Was that it? He needed a better laugh track? Idk. Maybe. I think his delivery needs work tbh.
@@alexdlocoa Yup there's a lot of stuff that needs work, but he's got a good baseline.
this guy sounds like he makes league of legends documentaries
And had grade A Wagyu in his freezer
When the guy in the crowd yelled "Ghengis Khan" as an Asian sex symbol, i laughed.
I peed a little lol
I have been telling my wife about this legend for years
Homie at like 7:49 yelling "Iiii'm slightly uncomfortabllleeeee~" was insane
i'm in tears laughing and paused to see if this comment was here lol
Bruh. I had to pause this... and leave.
How the #1 League of Legends commentator uses comedy to follow a dream
I respect Dong he has the balls to bring up hard topics this was great.
Exactly bro, only sad thing is this crowd was FULL with white people who all carry that infamous white guilt, sad.
agreed
Choice phrasing
yeah hes kinda bullshit really on most of these points, and they arent original whatsoever.
Bro didnt tell jokes. He just ranted
Bro, I didn't laugh once.
I literally knew the whole act would be trash at 1:23 the opening line when he says "black people" as his favorite topuc as if that was a punchline. Right there, his whole act boiled down to one sentence
this guy wouldn't last a minute in league of legends
After years of enjoying DongHuaP, and laughing alone at league of legends jokes, my family is finally going to enjoy this legend with me.
this isn't family friendly man 😭
@@ashleyrosenthal2009 what if i don't have a family friendly family?

this is ass comedy

Hey man, used to love your youtube videos but I'm not sure this was your best work. I'll try and be as constructive as possible but inevitably it'll be quite negative.
First off I really like two parts in particular, your response to the audience at 13:53 was great. Made you feel like a laid back guy that's quick on his feet. I think this vibe would be great to show off in the other parts of your performance. Second thing I liked was the joke about 'imagine if black panther was about rap battles and drive-by shootings'. Fucking hilarious, best joke I've heard in a while, I was audibly laughing.
Onto some of the more negative things I have to say (I like you that's why I'm being so detailed, not meant to be hate in any way):
You said you've been in standup for 13 years but your entire set is jokes that have been told before by others. I would've loved to see more original material, even if it meant breaking the continuity of your set's theme (race and upbringing). The porn joke was more novel but I'm not sure I would say it's a great bit.
It seemed you delivered your jokes the way you wanted to, which is good, but I think you had the wrong idea for the delivery to begin with. For example at 27:15, 'practice practice practice' while making slapping movements can be funny, but it's ruined by you having awkward posture. You start by slapping an imaginary child smaller than you and you finish with a punch close to your face as if you're punching someone your own height. And looking away while doing the movement seemed like you didn't really know what you wanted to achieve either. Same with the kick you did about 10 seconds later, just seems a little awkward and doesn't add anything to the bit.
A lot of your stories also feel like a trauma dumping. You can hear the audience feels the same from all the 'wow...' you hear after you talk about the suicide of your friend. Talking about trauma can be great but you have to make clear that you're making light of the situation. Instead I was confused if you were telling a joke or solliciting sympathy. Your anger is acted out too intensely and doesn't contribute much to the jokes and when they do, it's 30 seconds of angry talk for a medium quality joke. Go back and look at audience reaction to your angry bits, if it goes on too long people get uncomfortable.
side note: I think your outfit doesn't suit your body, it kinda hides you as a person and made your body language more subdued since most of the movements were hidden in the baggy clothes. I felt like body language was something you wanted to use in your set so make sure your clothes don't work against you.
I loved your youtube videos back in the day and I think you have a unique mind for some things, just make sure the other parts of your performance are polished as well so that your strength can shine through. I feel like bobby lee's performance at kims of comedy had the same style you were going for, watch it and see how he delivers his material (sorry to compare you to others like your parents did)
You broke it down pretty well. I would also add that his facial expressions show a lot of fear and insecurity, and the way he speaks, you can clearly hear that he is kinda forcing to sound more confident and add the emotion but it doesn't match what we are seeing so it ends up weird.
I would love seeing him improve on those details and get better over time!
@@yashy21 yeah that's a great point, the mismatch between facial expression and the words are what makes it not gel quite right. I would've phrased it more as awkwardness instead of fear and anxiety, but now that you say anxiety, I see that that could be contributing as well.
Definitely excited to see him improve yeah!
I'm here to stay, if this is the way just keep doing it
Colonize me is wild 😭
Awesome comedy dude. That crowd really underappreciated you lol. Nice to see you make videos again, from a LoL watcher of yours
Asian parent rant was so real. Felt that in my bones when he talked about the comparing game like we were trading cards.
As a Chinese guy who was adopted by white parents, I always personally feel lucky that I didn't have to deal with traditional Chinese parents. Good combination of comedic styles touching on real topics, and some basic toilet humor laughs. The "loser for killing yourself" jokes got me the most.
Hi guys, my name is afterlord and I've been a professional donghuap watcher for ten years and as of today I'm no longer going to be watching any donghuap content. I'm gonna be watching dan pan content from now on.
As a black race person, i approve of these jokes he makes about us black folks.
that is something a white race person would utter
Loved this special!! Not scared to step on some stupid toes 😂😂😭
You killed it brother keep it up, you got urself a follower on your new endevour
I like your material, but imo the delivery is too aggressive. It might not even be that it's too aggressive, but the style, tone, cadence, and intonation is too consistently, particularly consistently aggressive. I think the best comics are able to present their stories, lead ups, and punchlines very dynamically. I actually think that could be a habit from how you've historically presented your documentary style content where it makes sense. You're bringing your energy up higher than said past content to own the stage in a live setting which is good, but the energy, or at least the level of it consistently can wear on an audience member and dull the impact of your punchlines when it's all been delivered at similar power. Sincerely though, good luck and I hope you keep going.
its just dogsht
His voice sound good for documentary type videos
He should totally do a podcast or something, talk about his hobbies
Props to you for dealing with that crowd honestly, Can't wait to see what you got in store next!
The groans from the audience made it 10x funny 😂😊
Came from the League announcement and I enjoyed your set thoroughly
I forgot I was listening to comedy. Better luck in your next special.
That crowd was harsh. He was one of the funniest most original comedian ive heard in a long time. Done his jokes just like everyone else does
Watched it all the way through. This audience did not reflect how freaking funny you are IMO. Great stuff! I came from donghuap, and I'll be following Dan Pan now.
I'm not sure the crowd knew what they were going to get.
Man, this is not a Standup Comedy, but I am pretty impressed by how you are able to engage the audience. Whatever you have done, good job!
what is it then
@@jb6409Ted talk
Came here via your league channel. Your comedy is just as funny as in your other videos. Really enjoyed this special!
Wow! Nice set and having a nice stage performance with an audience! Very impressed by your stand-up! This is very cool that you’re a new UA-cam creator and this being your first video. I’m glad to be along for the ride as a subscriber.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂
18:24 That guy yelling Gengis Khan made my day
Yooooo. brother. I give big props to you for having the balls to do standup and go into risky topics. As a someone who really like your content and want you to succeed, your pace is too akin to a documentary or a TED talk. There are comedians who have a slow pace but their style of jokes match with it, like louis c k. I think for your type of jokes you need a punchier delivery for it to hit harder. Also try to avoid stereo typical jokes because I feel like I've heard the same joke said in a different way a million times before. I wish you the best. Good luck in your career. I'll be keeping up with your progress
Honestly enjoyed the show a lot, you've got a great future ahead of you if done right. Personally, I enjoy when comedians respond to hecklers or random shouts, like the dude at 7:49. It makes your on-stage persona more "glued together" in a way, or confident, which imo is pretty necessary, helps to create that experience of a standup show. Looing forward to your next show and watching you grow as a comedian and perfomer.
He's so honest, I enjoyed it lots! 💚💚💚
Asian parents sound like Balkan ones
That was fairly entertaining to watch, enjoyed the show overall. Personally, the only criticism I have is the intensity and anger at which you narrated the whole thing. While it was quite fitting with the whole theme of the special, I think it came off a bit overbearing and intense at times. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable, can't wait for more.
you're smashing it!
Made me laugh a bunch of times, really good show!
i think i heard a chuckle or two in there somewhere
This was pretty rough ngl
I don't understand why people are so afraid to keep doing what they're good at...
@@samlcyo2 You mean League of Cancer?
Bro you don’t have to hit the end of every line so hard. The contrast makes it hit harder
the dude that said "im slightly uncomfortable" at 7:50 made me laugh. we're all slightly uncomfortable about the situation. thats why talking about it is useful
Funny stuff! Proud of u dan
refreshing to see the sense of humor from the LoL channel was authentic
Hilarious!!! Keep it up!
I thought this was a TedTalk skid at first lol
I loved it
Amazing Video i love it !
I loved this special a lot, I hope it gets plenty of clout and attention as a lifelong fan of your content.
As side notes, take them or leave them, I think around 20:20, there was a perfect spot for a different radioactive Asian joke 😅 and playing into the crowd work a bit more is always good!
The input from the audience with Genghis Khan was a great springboard into an improv tangent, though I can get how it's better to see in hindsight.
Lastly, if you can work a bit more on your transitions, I think the comedic timing will definitely peak.
Godspeed man, I love your work, keep at it!
Thank you for sharing your humor.
Love the topics covered, love the authenticity. The delivery was kind of a lot for me, but to each their own.
Dong Huap, this is GREAT! My favorite joke was when you said «i don’t resent my parents tho…». That shit made me laugh so hard :) I Hope to see more standup by you in the future! Thankyou :)
This made me laugh, thanks
The Asian Brendan Shaub! Holy smokes.
Poor Dong Pan. His anger shows me how much pain he is in. 😢
Hi Dong, I’m a black woman who wishes there were a lot more Asian men on my dating profiles. Congrats on your special love. Take care. ❤
Love to see you going after your dreams!
Better than I expected.
THIS WAS TOO REAL PLEASE KEEP IT UP HAAHAHHA 😭
Fr too broke to be woke is facts! This is funny good stuff Dan!
18:30 The dude that yelled "Ghengis Khan" is actually hillarious
The one thing I laughed at
Let’s give Dan Pan a large round of applause!!! 👏🏼 Excellent performance!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

As a white guy with an Asian girlfriend I very much enjoyed this. 😂
Good show, love the character and rawness. I never heard you pronounce your name in Chinese before.
And I know you're a pro at this but sometimes you hold the mic so far from your voice that the volume becomes too low. Don't be afraid to put that mic up to your face.
As an Asian, I couldn't agree more about the Asian parent part, he talks about it in a fun way, but trust me, in reality, it is NOT FUN AT ALL. I truly hate my parents, but wish all the best to all the Asian kids😀
As an Asian American male. Some of things mentioned weighed very heavy on me. Luckily I'm not short but never picked is heart breaking. The over compensation to try to get someone is still impossible. Unwinnable. My mental is shot.
hang in there thomas i believe in you
First time I have heard a ted talk cosplay as a comedy special.
You have a new subscriber!!!

the middle and end are a lot stronger than the beginning, if i only watched the first 10 minutes i'd be dissapointed but it gets a lot better after that IMO

Great set man, you made a lot of people feel uncomfortable and thats always a good thing!
What a likable guy
Enjoyed the comedy, leaving a comment for the algorithm
What a Legend, truly in a League of his own
I could see him going big , good show
Bro, I gotta give this man credit for getting up on that stage for sure...
I'm copy-pasting this from my chat in discord sharing this skit. I've watched Dong long enough to know he's reading every comment lol:
Yo I've watched him a long time right? He can go ham sometimes lol and I love how real and raw he can be.
BUT GOD DAMN. This comedy special he gets unhinged some times. It's good, but there's def some hard topics so be warned.
I mean in the sense that it detracts from the comedy. It's too jarring for me in his delivery. It could be funny, but sometimes lands too hard.
Otherwise solid skit. I'll give it a 7/10 for his first stand-up routine ever.
That's my boii
Chase your dreams!!!
Hell yeah dude
Boring crowd man, great work and very true
dang crazy how someone's life take a 180 turn for the better once they quit playing league
You were hilarious, relatable and the way you forged ahead when the audience was too stupid to laugh was commendable. F ur creators. I'm proud of you!!!!
He should have ended with “thank you for coming to my tedtalk.”
