I have the same exact car. What a joy to drive this daily. Just added an aftermarket exhaust and intake for that swoosh swoosh sound!

I traded my DSG mk5 2008 2dr autobahn GTI for this exact car - urbano grey 6 speed manual. This is my 2nd day of ownership. It size feels familiar, and all the updates I wanted for the MK5 are included in this 40th GTI version. At 6'3" I fit in it well -- and it provides a lot of room for all my gear. I'm still getting use to the interface, but it's becoming easier with use. This is my fun car - not my daily.

Oddly, in the USA, we don’t get the Harmon Kardon or wireless charging, but we get knobs for volume control and tuning. How do I know? Because I bought a pomelo yellow 40th anniversary edition about three months ago and that’s how mine was equipped. Also, I got Bridgestone Potenza tires on mine. I’ve got 1,500 miles on it and just LOVE it. I’ve just not found the infotainment system to be problematic at all, same with the buttons on the steering wheel. I would prefer a traditional fuel gauge in the display rather than the one they’ve provided, though. I put it in eco mode and have averaged over 30 mpg with the manual, and on the highway have twice beat 37 mpg. I’m thinking that will improve after break in. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase - what a color - and knowing it’s the only yellow 40th anniversary GTI in my entire state makes it even more special! I don’t think it’s too soon to say this is the most fun car I’ve ever owned!

Yes, in the US, the S and 40TH get knobs and the SE and Autobahn don't. Glad to hear you love your car!

My friend just took delivery of a 40th Anniv. edition. It does have wireless charging, and no knobs on the infotainment center.

i own this car, and the infotainment is great - no issues. You can make shortcuts for whatever you need as well -

The interface is really nice. I love it and I’m an old lady. It took me about two hours to get use to the basics. I’m on my 3rd day of ownership. So, yes, I’m still figuring out the more complex stuff you don’t use every day. But the basics are super easy.
And, no, I don’t want the knobs back like in my 7.5.
I love the clean dash & the interface
Also love the touch capacity buttons on the steering wheel.
Honestly, reviewers just aren’t spending like an hour with the car.
    So are being silly.

You have to take your eyes off the road for simple tasks, which makes it unsafe. Even VW disagrees with you because they are bringing knobs back.

@japanwatchconnection The infotainment tirades are warranted. Haptic buttons are awful. And it's not "set it and forget it". The auto temp does not work very well and you have to adjust the A/C on a hot day and the heat on a cold day. It's all just very annoying.

    • @katiecannon8186
      @katiecannon8186 Рік тому +1

@@bigmacdaddy1234 I live in FL. I do have to adjust the temp. And it’s super easy to do so. There’s a climate button that pulls up a screen. You just touch the screen to where you want it. The reviewers are going to this screen and then *sliding* the “bar”. Which is stupid. You just put your finger where you want it it set - and bam! Seriously, the interface is perfectly fine.

Test drive two GTI and play around with my brosthers for a week, one thing really bothers me, that infotainment is a nightmare, distraction, laggy, accidently touched on steering wheel, hunting for things on that touch screen, etc. I have to say I got used to the old one button thing from Honda and Subaru, but again some people like it some don’t. Don’t get me wrong I love GTI that’s why I’m seriously research into it, and I will just wait a bit till next gen come out when they fixed some of these issues, good luck guys

Lol. The touch capacitive buttons are actually great. It’s just the silly reviewers who don’t spend any time with the car who say otherwise, probably so they’ll have something to say & are just copying what other reviewers have said.
If I - an old lady - can easily use the interface I’m certain young dudes can as well.

true Sport car must be a manual at least six gears, even Porsche has it, up to seven, an automatic transmission is equivalent to having sex with clothes on, the standard without it, the passion of driving is to change according to the conditions of the track or highway, the automatic transmission is suitable for ladies with cell phones looking for gossip or gays in high heels, I drive a six-speed Clio RS, with the classic French design, served flat, there's the detail 😅! From a Mexican chingon from Mexico City 😅

There are a few left within 350 miles of me. Two are Urano Gray and 6 speed. I am on the fence to get it as I own a Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE 6 speed which is a fabulous car in all respects except torque (151 lbs/ft) and 168hp. It gets great mileage. The worst I’ve gotten is 29.5 and my average over 13,000 miles is 32.5. I’ve owned cars similar to the GTI and miss the feel of driving a compact German car. I would love to keep both, but wife says no. Plus, the selling dealer says they will give me 25k trade in. I shall see.

Well. I bought it. Urano Gray w/6 speed manual. Traded the Corolla Hatchback for it. Got $25,000 trade in for the Corolla. I couldn’t turn down the deal. The GTI is everything I expected. Handling, power, breaking. I loved that Corolla. Wife would not let me keep both 😐

The interior user interface is atrocious! a complete disaster and sad to see from such a "driver focused" vehicle. VW should be embarrassed
