2023 Lexus IS 500 Daily Driver Review

- This third generation Lexus IS 500 was launched in 2013. It has receive a couple of mid-cycle refreshes but it still has its powerful 5.0 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine. It generates 472 hp at 7,100 rpm and 395 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. Its 8-speed AI automatic transmission can launch it from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. These ICE engines won’t be in new car showrooms for much longer so we should enjoy them while we can.

The V8 is the primary reason I bought mine. I'm glad the competitors exist. The BMW may be quicker but the IS500 was exactly what I wanted.
It puts a smile on my face each drive😊💙❤ And yes... playing my old CDs is a bonus
More people need to know why the CD player is in there. It's because the Mark Levinson audio systems is one of the best, if not THE best, sound system in any vehicle. CDs have a much higher bitrate (sound quality). They keep the CD player in there for the audiophiles.

What’s cool is it has Direct and Port fuel injection to keep the backs of the intake valves cleaner from carbon buildup.
I don't get why car reviewers keep saying the IS 500 is slower than its competition. It's the same! The IS 500's 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds is the same as that of the BMW M340i's, the Audi S4's, and the Mercedes' C43. Reviewers must be (mistakenly in my opinion) comparing the IS 500 to the M3 and the RS5 Sportback, which would only make sense if the IS 500 were an F model rather than F-Sport.
no m340 0-60 isnt 4.4 its actually faster, and it is slow but the reliability covers it

I had two candidate for my next car, IS500 and RS3 from Audi, then I've decided to buy IS500 because I wanted to enjoy large NA engine. The delivery time is middle of December. I can't wait for it any more. LOL

@@macneg neither the Audi nor a 340 are race cars. And they can’t win a race while on a lift. 1/10 of a second just doesn’t mean as much to some folks (me among them). “Fast” is fun, “fastest” is silly.
@@nashbridges120long term sure. In the first 4 years and 0-40,000 miles with a warranty, I don’t think the Audi rs3 would cost more out of pocket. If anything less on gas.

I’m here to check this car out. I’m not buying it for the power because my STI makes power but I’m wanting it for the sound and the luxury driving. There’s one for sale in caviar for 55k with 18k miles but 2 owners so I wonder why they would get rid of the car so quickly. I don’t see any recalls which is good but the one I’m looking at is a 2022.
