Good graphics usually mean boring gameplays or bad games for the most part. Unfortunately thats the truth. Most modern folks who design these "good graphics" have no gameplay ideas. They are just showing graphics like cinematics with cutscenes and story modes while the gameplay becomes boring or suppressed. Game developers 15 to 20 years ago had brilliant gameplay ideas.
Games must be ranked by gameplays (what the gameplay is about, the rules for the gameplay). Graphics should be secondary except if its a racing or simulation game.
Back in the late 90s and early 2000 games were about completing missions in thousands of various ways and methods in open world environments not stories. If you play a game as in a mission, you can play the game over and over and over again without getting tired, using various methods to win. With story mode and cutscenes you play the game once and when the story ends you just stop.
exactly. i continuously skipped though like 80% of this video. i don't see anything new. i've played all these games already... for the past 10 years. if better graphics = fun, then no one would be playing minecraft, pixel art style games, or tabletop board games.
But.. As good graphics become more easy to make as technology increases, good games will have easy access to leading graphics, which can in some cases add to the experience.
I too, scrubbed through 80% of this as well though... Mostly just "Cringey-women-can-be-badasses-too!!11!one!!11!!" vibes and the already over-saturated Asian thematic.
And after you stop, you buy another game. Profit!
Certainly. But it seems there are enough people who buys games mostly for graphics, because games relying mostly on graphics instead of gameplay are being produced for a long time now.
Recent games are lack of that addiction, that environment, music, what called immersive. And lasted in our memory for a prolonged period. Only graphic does no justice.

The Project last fragment has caused in me an impact that I haven't had since I first laid eyes on Bioshock. And I am super far from being an FPS enthusiast. Really not my thing, but this one has achieved another level of impact, not only in regards to how realistic it looks.
It doesn't get me excited because they don't seem fun

It used to be the capital of the Tang Dynasty and was also the largest city in the world by the year 700 AD, with a population of already 2 million in the city. I recognize it by seeing the landmark building, the "Wild Goose Pagoda," in the middle left. It still exists today, and I actually live right next to that pagoda.😂

project V looks stunning, hopefully it turns out to be another Monster hunter like, it has a good feeling of impactfull hit, and the pace it's going make it feels like every attack matters so you take time before firing anything, unlinke most game nowaday where you blast your way through monsters, hopefully it wont turn out to be a top down view like lost ark as we can see it when the tiger spits fire, and remain a 3rd person coop monster hunting game, will see in what 5-7 years, if the project doesn't get burried before T_T

The scenery already looks photorealistic in UE5. Now it seems the focus is in optimizing performance and automating creation. After that, I'd love to see the focus being on the realism of characters, and then in water/other liquids.

I'm more concerned about the boring, repetitive gameplay. We don't need another thousand identical FPSes.

Very impressed with the Project Wraith weapons. I've shot them and they look quite real. Sound is off, real sound is more clunky. Actual sound you can literally hear the bolt carrier slamming metal.

I've seen many improvements in realistic graphics in video games but whenever the characters climb up the stairs, it looks like they are floating.

don't be fooled by visuals Gfx's and alot of cgs, try seek in the game the element that has Gameplayability into it. I will teach you two games differently opposite from both and has it both. Tibia(Master Gameplay), Horizon Zero (Insane Gameplay with Beauty Graphics) hope i teached soemthing for you.

Yes, I have a Quest 2 and the immersion that VR offers, even with mobile graphics, is amazing.
At the same time, a good portion of VR games are being made by indie companies without experience. Lacking the ability, time and money to polish games to a AAA standard.
I was playing Battle Talent the other day, an excellent VR game, the best sword fighting game I've ever played in VR. Incredible in many aspects, especially in combat gameplay, but amateurish in various other areas (like items, campaign progression...etc) that we are used to seeing at a high level in traditional PC games.
game-wise it would be a logical consequence to develop that purely for highend PCVR.. or at least hybrid, especially in 2023. Economically.. I don't wanna talk about that. But seeing such a "made for VR" game in flat-only again would be a disgrace. As you mentioned, the level of immersion in VR would be mind-blowing! Looks even better than the RE games.

Mind you, I love good graphics, its one aspect of a game that i hope would be good. But the state gaming industry is as of today. Instead of things like 'Wow, insane graphics.' I would much prefer to say, wow what a gameplay.

What I cant wait to see is the new Rage Engine 9 that Rockstar has made for GTA6/RDR3. Apparently it looks better than UE5. I'll have to see it to believe it... but with all the money they made from GTA5 Online... maybe its possible.
I mean I would be impressed AF if the whole of gta6 was open world where you could go in every building and it looked like Lost Fragment. The Perceiver looks pretty awesome for exteriors.
Rage 9 will be more optimised than UE5. So,even if RAGE 9 looks like UE%, it will run much better.
Also, i dont think people would be sad if it looks like UE5 and not better, as UE5 is also quite realistic.

There is a dark, oppressive, "indoors" coloration in every environment. I want to see some blue sky and bright color at least some of the time.
We allready have great landscapes in games, what we miss are realistic indoor scenes and lightning.
Thats what they show us here.
And the landscapes ... their nanite system is crazy realistic, just look for that on youtube and you will finde more than one video about it.

the quality varies greatly. some are really good, some aren't. With some I can see the same trees and rocks, the same effects and movements I've seen a thousand times in other games. Every tool can only transport the artisanship of its wielder. Every time I can see the code behind the scene it breaks my immersion.
Surely the people watching this don't think every game *actually* has the word Project in it. Can't even provide the name of each game but we are all supposed to believe they will be out within the next 14 months.

Well, it good that they look nice but if they need like 4080 and 4090 to get 60fps like Immortals of Aveum than good luck to these game. that game bomb really hard. i mean who would have though make game cater toward few percentage of people with that kind of gpu would be a horrible idea.
It fine if UE5 game gonna push the limit of graphic but it should have option range in setting for mid and lower gpu too. i'm using 3080ti i will be really skeptical about all upcoming UE5 games, until it prove otherwise.
That game is on PS5 and Xbox so it can't require 4080/90 to get a decent rate.
for the first one, is it the actual gameplay graphic or just a rendered cutscene?
I'm curious will 4090 be enough to play the games with max graphics in 60fps in 4K. I doubt it, though.

@@DreamyAbaddonno, heavy graphics is too much for PC. You need quantum computer, not personal computer which is too puny in power.
Looks like we would need a RTX10090 Titan Special edition with 128Gb DDR-10 to run this at 60fps 4K.
UE5 is not about insane graphics, but insane fps drops.
