Just picked up my first. it will be going in a hanging pot on a balcony facing south. I'm in So. Cal and my city shows zones 9b, 10a, and 10b. Hopefully it will be happy. Beautiful looking vine. Thanks for all the helpful info.!
Hi. Would like to say that I have this vine growing in front of my house. For very long time I didn’t know what it is. It just started to sprout and knew it was some kind of a vine, so I let it be. For at least five years it never bloomed, not until this past spring of 2024, I was so surprised to see yellow blooms which is somewhat fragrant. I am from Ohio and the zone is 6a. I had no idea where it came from, but I think I’ll keep it. 😊 Enjoying your vlogs. Thank you.
Thank you! I’ve been seeing these all around my woods and yard and this morning I went to it and wow! The fragrance is so sweet! I found your video from a google search of the picture I took to identify this. How lovely and Thank you for sharing your experiential knowledge of how to grow it. I just love growing natural (free!) plants. I live in the NE part of Florida just under the Georgia line and it grows very heartily here 😊
I have my jessamine located on a garden archway. I transplanted it from a volunteer off my neighbor’s vine on my property years ago and now it completely crowns the upper portion of the arch.
I used yo have one in my old house , full sun, did great! Could I grow in a pot ? Most of my gardening now is in containers with a courtyard garden now!
I’m in zone 8b and all have dead😢leaves from winter. They did come back from previous winter storm. I can see some green leaves on some of them. Hope they come back this Spring 🙏🏼
Had one in full sun in NE Georgia mountains. 2600 ft altitude. I look for at least zone 6 tolerant. Didn’t know this was zone 7. No leaves at all but I won’t give up on it until May. Guess I need to look for a different vine.
Hi Jim. Love both your channels! Had a beautiful Carolina Jessamine on an archway and fence last year where I live in NW Alabama. Unfortunately, straight-line winds took down two hundred year old oak trees and crushed my fence and arch. I thought I had saved the Carolina Jessamine, but it hasn’t come back yet after the December sudden freeze. Do you think it will?
thank you for this video. Do you think it will grow or survive in a big pot? I wanted the plant to climb up to our patio but unfortunately our patio is paved. Ty in advance!
I am in Calcutta, India and have had to move most of my plants to my cousins terrace as I stopped getting sufficient sunlight due to some construction. As this was a very lanky plant my cousin didn't take it. I have re-potted it to a small ground outlet and couldn't understand what was the best way to care for it. Now I know. Not sure I will get any flowers as the sunlight doesn't seem sufficient. But the plant really grows even though it seems like a non crawling plant, I now realise it needs some support. Thanks for the video
I looked into these. Fell in love with Pride of Augusta Jessamine, though hard to find. It will be mine though... As soon as I paint my house... So that I can put a trellis on it...
We just had to remove all of our juniper on our slope bc the jessamine was choking out the juniper. Now I’m using Bonide Stump and Vine on the existing jessamine in the ground. I cut the vine and then use the brush applicator to “paint” the cut. I’m hoping this does the trick. This plant is relentless in areas that you don’t want it!
Does Caroline Jessamine come with different color flowers? I purchased one on clearance at Lowe's decades ago that ended up with orange flowers the next Spring.
Here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Carolina Jessamine blooms massively in the spring and then that's it till next year. Crossvine blooms massively in the spring and then scattered flowers over the summer.
Hi Jim. I really appreciate your talking not just about the plants but also about their applications/uses. Thank you for all you do.

Really appreciate your increasing focus on native plants!!

@@2468HOTROD Good to know. We're north of Austin and wondered how they'd hold up. 👍
To grow on a vinyl fence, will it attach itself or do i need to provide a trellis or wire to train it on?
Is the Carolina Jessamine dangerous to hummingbirds?
I read this plant is bad for bees, is this true?

I was curious as to what this was called. I've seen it growing wild and wanted to dig up some and transplant. Thanks!

How does this do in the wind?
Is that one plant on the fence or multiple planted near each other?
I'm in zone 10 and love mine
Does it grow in full sun ?
The LORD will light my candle 🕯️

Didn't paint the house. Ordered it anyway... I really need to paint the house..
I just bought one from my local nursery and it says it's cold hardy to zone 5, am I being fooled.
I had some for years on a lamp post but it totally took it over, breaking the light on the lamp post so I dug it up! Never again.
How do you kill it in a juniper bed ?
Help🥺

I'm trying to get one to climb a cedar tree on my corner lot near my back fence.

No…it’s only yellow. You probably got something else. If it’s evergreen maybe a Crossvine. If deciduous likely Trumpet vine.
Jim does it bloom during the summer?

Had 2 in zone 7a they both died over winter
👍👍🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
The forsythia of the south
this is one of the most dangerous plant on the planet
What why.
