Im a Diabetic type 1 from Last 15 Years. Allhmdulillah Using Insulin from Day 1 after Diagnose.!! Feeling Better...!! But its Really Get Hard to Gain Weight...
Hi Raja. Thanks for your comment. We appreciate that some diagnoses can be difficult, particularly if you're having to gain weight. If you have diabetes and you’re underweight or struggling with your appetite, it’s important to eat the foods you like rather than being too restrictive with your diet. It’s important to see your GP if you have been losing weight without meaning to. We all have different body shapes, but if your body weight has changed and you’re not sure why, or it isn’t normal for you, then it’s important to speak to a healthcare professional, or even a dietician. We have more information about this here: www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/enjoy-food/eating-with-diabetes/whats-your-healthy-weight/tips-to-gain-weight. Please don't hesitate to get back in touch or contact our helpline (www.diabetes.org.uk/about_us/contact_us) for further support. Take care.
I AM NOT A DOCTOR, CONSULT WITH YOUR PHYSCIAN. I'm a type 1, diagnosed 2019 at age of 37. If you're "pretty sure" you don't have to wait. Go to ANY Walmart in America. Buy their ReliOn Brand of Blood Glucose testing strips/reader. They are CHEAP. Finding out if you're a diabetic is really pretty easy and straight forward. One way to test for diabetes is to fast ( stop eating) for 12 hours or more, then use the Relion testing strips/meter and test your Glucose level. If it's above 100 then chances are VERY good you're a diabetic. You can also test yourself at anytime (not as fool proof) without fasting (so eating like normal) and if your Glucose is over 200 ( double check that #, ) with food in stomach it's likely you're a diabetic. To determine which type (1 or 2) you need a peptide test which your Endocrinologist will order.
I've been diabetic for about 6 years now. I will be turning 45 years old in a few days time and I've just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just a few days ago. I had lost a lot of weight as well as other symptoms. I told my doctors and diabetes nurse that I suspect that I have type 1 diabetes but they just dismissed it and failed to connect the dots. I feel very angry that I've been misdiagnosed for so long especially since it was a simple blood test that would determine it. I even had a stroke which probably could have been prevented with the right treatment. I feel like I've lost a crucial 6 years of my life unnecessarily

My twin sister has had T1D since April 2003. I have had it since August 2012. I do sympathize with Type 2 Diabetics, but the fact that both of the diseases are called Diabetes means that nearly everyone I tell about my T1D thinks I caused my own diagnosis. It’s actually quite embarrassing. I always explain it, but I think the name should be changed.
Hi Nabil, unfortunately there are no insulin supplements available in the UK. Insulin is only effective if it is injected, because it absorbs into the body and starts working fairly quickly. Anything digested (like a tablet / supplement) takes a much longer time to breakdown and absorb into the blood stream. If you need any help or support managing your diabetes please give our helpline a call: www.diabetes.org.uk/about_us/contact_us. Take care for now.

Yeah. I bet it can be pretty scary. I was diagnosed at age 31 and I literally went to the hospital and demanded them to test me for it as I had already figured it out. So that was a trip right to the ICU. As I had already figured it out it wasn't scary for me. I already knew what it was and what it implied. At least what it meant living with it as a cousin of mine also has type 1. I think the nurses however were pretty baffled with my behavior as I was calm, collected and didn't really react to the information they gave me. I think they expected me to be sad or shocked. I was mostly just bored out of my skull. The nurses acted like I didn't understand what they told me, but I understood more than well. There was just nothing to react to so I didn't. The way I see it. It is just another way to live life so do not make to much of a fuss about it.
also kind of sad, saying goodbye to the life you knew (even if it's really just the same with added daily injections and blood tests). stuffing your face with cake is not the same when you have to play pancreas.
it's genetic so there's a chance you'll pass it on. odds are: 1 in 17 if the father has it 1 in 25 if the mother does and has the child before the age of 25, after the age of 25 odds decrease to 1 in 100. in other words, something us blokes have to worry about fs.
I'm not diabetic. Doing my basic info research on what it is for my friend. I'm a nurse and give a lot of vaccines. I also have friends that don't or try not to take vaccine shots. Some friends have kids that developed immune and mental disorders. I find it so interesting that everyone that has kids that started to develop such things blame vaccines and they just try to stay quiet about it because of people's shame and opinions. What if some of these vaccines really did effect people differently and because of that developed some sort of immune disorder like diabetes?

Take care.

There is no cure for diabetes
Im pretty sure I have it. When I’m 18 I’m gonna bring it up to my doctor
You gonna fucking die if you wait
you will die if you wait, probably, most likely a bunch of health scars

Hi may I recommend my new channel!

Learning all about this for my bf :)
Sweet.
What if we take insulin supplements? Is it gonna work?
Hi Nabil, unfortunately there are no insulin supplements available in the UK. Insulin is only effective if it is injected, because it absorbs into the body and starts working fairly quickly. Anything digested (like a tablet / supplement) takes a much longer time to breakdown and absorb into the blood stream. If you need any help or support managing your diabetes please give our helpline a call: www.diabetes.org.uk/about_us/contact_us. Take care for now.

Was diagnosed this past summer as a teenager. Scariest moment of my life
What is "diagnosed" can u please elaborate to me
@@absol1462 diagnosed means the doctor tells you that you have type 1 diabetes
I got it when I was 5, my bloodsugar was 35.5 when I was going to the doctors right there and then, scary shit.
also kind of sad, saying goodbye to the life you knew (even if it's really just the same with added daily injections and blood tests). stuffing your face with cake is not the same when you have to play pancreas.
If your type one and have a child would your child have it or is there a chance ?
well you can try to check for symptons or do a checkup at a hospital, most likely a chance though
it's genetic so there's a chance you'll pass it on. odds are:
1 in 17 if the father has it
1 in 25 if the mother does and has the child before the age of 25, after the age of 25 odds decrease to 1 in 100.
in other words, something us blokes have to worry about fs.
My father has type 1 diabetes at age of 39

Your good. Exercise and eat right. Type 1 can't be reversed.
My sister might have type 1 so I am watching this to understand what’s happening
if she does then you should probably get to the hospital as quick as possible, or else a bunch of health scars may occur
