Given that your channel is tailored to people of colour, I do think it is important that you use certain scientific epithets with greater caution. For instance, within your introduction in this video, you stated that most cosmetics on the market are manufactured by the west for Caucasian people. As a doctor you surely must be endowed with the gen necessary to elude the common misconception that Caucasian people are all "white". In fact Caucasian people would include peoples from N. Africa, Western Asia and South Asia - which would thus include your native origin. Consequently you too are Caucasian but not "white."
Given your platform and focus on colour, I believe it to be an obligation almost, to deter from the spread of misinformation by providing accurately educational content.

I think you need to launch a sunscreen, eye cream, serums, night creams, cleansers and other relevant skincare products that will protect our skin from hyperpigmentation but also improve it. I honestly don't know what to buy now. I've switched to ordinary now.

I find it sooo chalky and flaky! I tried using moisturiser underneath but it's still chalky. Don't know what I'm doing wrong! Any suggestions or maybe it's just not for me?
r same girl!!! It's probably more suitable for oily skin, I have dry skin so it is not the best for me. Buy the normal one, not the anti-shine one, and you should be good!!!

I came here from Dr. Dray’s review on this brand. It would be so cool to have you two discuss sunscreen as you both have your individual perspectives, experience etc.
Dr V is referring to skin of colour user….i am one and so Grateful to her review.
In France, the third suncreen was recommended from a website written by doctors in pharmacology, so I wasn't really scared (and they also had roasted the other products because of alcohol, fragrance or spray).
But I'm still very happy to have a second opinion from a healthcare professional.

I love LRP, as I watch this I am using anthelios. So light and creamy. My dry middle eastern skin loves it. I layer it with Elta MD UV clear tinted.

I just stopped using the aveeno ultra calming moisturizer with spf 15 after two weeks because it was irritating my skin and stung and gave me rashes not knowing it can get into breastmilk 😭😭😭 and I’ve been breastfeeding while using it. Thank you for your honest reviews, Dr. V!
I used to applied Anthelios Mineral for more than a year! And used to love it. At the beginning of this 2021 I noticed that was drying my skin very bad all around my mouth and chin area! And right now I still struggling from a lot dryness in all that area. Looking forward to find the right sun cream for me.
Use cetaphil to help with the dryness. Highly recommend

I really love the shaka fluid, it's super resistant and has an amazing UVA protection. I don't feel like it's drying my skin but i am not gonna use it everyday anymore. maybe just on days when I get a lot of exposion. The fact that it's liquid and light make it easy to put several layers of it and to make sure that's properly protected ( quantity wise )
I usually use it during the summer because it is the only one which does not melt and physically blind me :)) other ones just melt off

I really enjoyed this video and the detail you put into it. The only thing i will disagree with is how much kids care about the white cast from sunscreen. I personally remember as a child refusing to wear sunscreen because of how it looked and by the time i could make my own choices made the horrible decision to stray away from it (im not as old as i make myself sound lol only 20). This was and is still a common complaint i hear from kids and adults alike, i know people to this day who dont like sunscreen because of the misconception that whitecast is the only option.

I appreciate your videos and its so eye opening. I want to limit my dark spots but didn’t have an idea of all the dangers I was facing and unintentionally making it worse. I have a sample of Anthelios 50 mineral tinted and I’m looking at it like: if it wasn’t for this video just reading mineral I would’ve been confident trying it 😫

I am Hispanic and You are correct. I used this product as a sample. Initially I loved it because it was light but after a while my face was very dry. It had cardboard look and feel. I am glad it was just a small sample. I much rather use ceraVe.
I think that it would be more helpful to do a day/night routine for oily/acne, dry, combination and normal skin with the products we should use (cleanser, exfoliant, serum, moisturizer and any actives/oils) as the priority and then the reviews of brands. I think many of us just want to know what IS good for us so we can purchase it and get started and the information on the other popular brands is just extra info. Can you do that?

I would really love a video on a top 10 mineral (or even chemical), non-tinted sunscreens without Denatured Alcohol, that do not leave a cast for dark skin. I have looked through all of my sunscreens and they all have denatured alcohol. And I have yet to find a readily available mineral sunscreen available in Europe that does not leave a cast on dark skin. Tinted sunscreen especially during all this mask wearing is not preferable at all.
Sun block mineral sunscreen from eco cosmetics is great.
Have you tried the IMAGE skincare prevention daily matte moisturizer? Its non tinted, mineral, no den. alcohol and its SPF 32. It leaves no white cast (I have medium dark skin)

I had lasered surgical scars before discovering ur channel and the scar tissue improved but the skin around it became significantly darker.

@@vanitarattan Do you know of any physical sunscreens that works for ppl with polymorphic light eruption. I have been using Eucerin sun allergy formula. I had to buy on Amazon bc its only sold in the UK. So, far, it has worked for me. However, I haven't been to the beach to do a real test.

How did it take me so long to find this channel! Thanks for your videos Dr V! I know you have not monetized the channel because you're not looking to make money from this but UA-cam seems to push monetized videos more and you might be able to reach more people if the channel is monetized. You could maybe do giveaways with the ad revenue, or donate it (or keep it, it's not my business to say what one should do with the money they make) but I think a monetized channel would probably be pushed more by UA-cam and you could reach more people!

I actually had one of these sunscreens in my cart ready to order it. I have started looking at your videos today & since deleted it. I would like to find a good sunscreen since I have been educating myself on skin care. I have a darker complexion so the one that has the zinc really would be a disaster on me.

I'm so happy that i had found your videos because i thought i was crazy. My dermatologist recommended those spf from la roshe posay( even though i told her i have sensitive skin )and they smelled like straight alcohol and when applied it burned my skin. I'm fair/light and i suffer from melasma but all the things you say and recomend for women of colour i think it applies to my sensitive skin. Thank you for your great and informative videos. I use the invisible fluid because it's the only sunscreen that doesn't have perfume, doesn't leave me looking like a ghost, and doesn't sting my eyes. Also, the options are limited in my country, and online shopping taxes are really expensive. I guess I'll stick with it. I'm tired of looking for a sunscreen.
Same here The La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF50+ has been the only sunscreen that has been good for my skin, not greasy,does not sting and just has a flawless finish....I am so so tired of buying sunscreens. I will stick with this one 😩🙌🏿🙌🏿

If it has chemical filters, don't settle. There are many mineral-only sunscreens to have little to no white cast, and no irritants like fragrances. Dr. V's own Inzincable sunscreen has no white cast

I am a lupus patient and needed sunscreen badly because sun really irritates my skin even just our lamp in the house and I couldn't find a real good sunscreen for my skin that is not adding irritation and burn to my skin. I akways see and hear about this La roche and somewhat convinced me, I did bought actually but it leave my skin so itchy, even their moisturizers did the same to my skin, I thought they are very good because of all this mktg things. Switch your sunscreen. Try cetraben as a fatty emollient.
Thank you, So relieved that you made this review. I used to used it and noticed that dried,dehydrated my skin, my skin felt tight as i had been exposed to a fireplace it felt very irritated. I could not continue using, althought i got combination skin and normally i always do produce oils after 2 hours of applying other suncream brands. my favorite is dermatologica so far.

I've been using La Roche Posay ciclaplast levres barrier repairing balm. It's unscented, unpigmented and by far the best balm I've ever used. My lips aren't chronically dry anymore
I was just wondering which physical sunscreens would you recommend for oily skin and skin to colour that are not too expensive? I was thinking of the paula’s choice spf 50 but are there any others that are as good in your opinion. Also if you could recommend some good mineral sunscreens that would be great
I had such a bad reaction using this sunscreen last week. My whole face came up with hives and eyes got swollen. I had just started using Paulas choice retinol + Bakuchiol and everything was going fine. As soon I I used this sunscreen the next morning, the skin reacted to it. So it makes sense now. Thank you Dr V for sharing with us this vital info.

I just bought some la Roche products but opted out of the sunscreen and settled for a mineral Neutogena sunscreen and cheap! After listening to this one I am glad I didn't get La Roche.
