If FN had not outsourced the manufacturing of this shot gun to Turkey, it might have been too expensive for most people, look at what happened to the Winchester 94,they stopped production here in the US and transfered it to Japan then the price of the 94 went from 500 dollars new when made in the US, to 1100 hundred dollars new when made in Japan, glad I bought years ago when they were still being made in the US.

Just because its msde i. Turkey does not mean its automatically garbage. The turks have built guns for centuries. If they can build something for a sultan or for the ottoman empire it cant be that bad. Its a product, there will always be lemons with any serial produced item. I held the field model and i loved the fit and feeling in hand.
Looks pretty cool but it's couple of steps down from the discontinued Defender model. Same speed pump action with a steel trigger guard and 7 plus 1 capacity.
Steve from TargetFocusedLife has used these Winchester pump action shotguns. There is no need to doubt the quality of this particular product just because of the country of manufacture. The number of shots Steve could have fired is and his knowledge and skills are on a completely different level compared to TFB James mentioned in many comments, whose image includes mocking Turkish shotguns. It is true that some manufacturers in that country make cheap, low-quality copies. In the case of Winchester, it is not a question of a cheap copy, but the production is distributed in cheaper countries.
My bedside shotgun is an sxp. Not the trench gun, but still an sxp. I bought it because of its feel. Went into Academy and handles several other popular 12 gauges in the similar category. What I loved the most is how it fit my hands and it pumps like buttuh! Not a lot of jiggle. Actually none. And I added a glow sight over the bb sight, an extra round holder on the side, and a bigger but pad , however honestly not super necessary. It feels nice right out of the box. It’s a self defense gun. I don’t care how it performs in extreme abuse or a burn down challenge. It has been reliable so far and feels custom made for me. It rapid fires so smoothly. I think it pushes a bit over its price point. It’ll do what you need it to do.
ALL Winchester SXP shotguns are made in Istanbul, Turkey, for all you haters out there. I have this one and the Marine Extreme......awesome, affordable, reliable, built to Winchester standards shotguns....period!

As much as I love the look of this one, I think mossberg really blew it away with the 590 retrograde. Mossberg and remington really own the field when it comes to the pump these days in my opinion. Love you videos sootch
*What would have really made this SG great, is if they would have made a "Trench Gun" clone.* *That means make it with a bayonet lug and include an authentic looking bayonet, also; the action should throw lead by holding down the trigger, and pumping out each shell.* *This really is just a cool looking, well built shotgun, at a great value price.* 💥💥💥💥💥🤠
People criticize guns made in Turkey but the ones I've seen and shot are as good as any other. Remember that there has been some real crap made in the US too. I just bought a Win 20ga SXP High Grade Field for skeet and upland birds and it is a really nice gun. Flawless in every way and the High Grade means I paid a little more for better wood and it is fantastic. I owned three Win 1300s in the past and this new gun is as good as those that were made here. It was only $360 on sale but also had a $50 rebate so a great deal too. Not better than the US made but just as good and less money.
Good video Scootch, if you're interested there's youtube tutorials on how to load two and even four shells at once to speed up one's combat reload. Thank you for this trench shotgun video.
Excellent review as always Sootch. Personally I wouldn’t buy a Turkish shotgun. My limited experience with them is very poor. Mossberg or Vintage 870 for me.
I'm no expert, and every shotgun test I've ever seen was done by the same person (James Reeves, TFBTV), but every Turkish shotgun he's ever tested has failed. To be fair, he's pretty rough, and some say it's not fair, but the Mossberg Maverick 88 survived, and that's the cheapest shotgun made (that I know of), so...
Those tests (while impressive) I don't think are fair or realistic. I don't see anyone putting their shotguns through that much abuse! Particularly if you just want a sporting shotgun.
@@bobhill3941 if they fail at 500 rounds, they can fail at 100. that's the point of those tests. The army uses burn-down tests to determine reliability. Its a valid test.
Definitely a bargain at that price ! Can’t go wrong with that ! I’d like to see how well it groups slugs at 40-50 yards with a set of XS Ghost Ring sights on it. I’ll bet it would do as well as any smooth bore cylinder shotgun
My main concern a buddy got a sxp 4 yrs ago with a 28 inch barrel. He shoots clays with it. Took him 3 yrs to get a 18 inch barrel for it. While i got my mossberg 500 with a 28 inch barrel and took me 7 days to get my 18 inch barrel. Getting parts or other stuff is my problem. I will stick with my 500 or 590
I’m loving these retro builds that companies are doing! I’ve made generic shotguns look like tranch guns or at least riot shotguns even before the retrograde Mossbergs came out. I think people are realizing as much as a gun is good as a tacticaool machine, there is something soooo good about walnut and steel. Hopefully the quality control on these is good because many Turkish shotguns are just crap The trigger guard shape is very Turkish… not very cool. But again, if it functions well, I’d let a few things like that go
Similar to the discontinued 1300. I know this is based on the original trench gun design which I love, but I don’t like when the forearm moves over the receiver on cocking. The receiver on my 1300 developed crazy wear marks due to this design. For the price though this gun is irresistible.
Far too many gun shops do not carry the Winchester products and here’s why… Now that it’s made in turkey, getting parts can take several months for some reason and this has been the case for a very long time… Hence why so many gun shops will not carry Winchester. Also, none of the parts are interchangeable with the model 1300 even though it closely resembles the model 1300. They should’ve kept production of the shotguns and lever actions here in the United States. I am waiting for the day when Henry will finally come out With a 12 gauge pump action shotgun.
I remember the armory in Berlin. Hundreds of defender model cause t load shorts and t bean bag non lethal were shorts. 870 easier to clean and maintain.
I would suggest when firing, put back with some tension on the slide. When fired it will automatically eject the slide to the rear. Then the recoil will raise the gun. Lower the gun, slide the slide forward and lock it in. Take aim, at the same time and fire again. You were not real smooth in the video, jerky. Practice some skeet shooting; I suggest #9 shot. Yes, the clays will fly through the patten. The point is you will get the muscle memory for rapid fire. You will own the center station. Wear glasses because you can be showered with clay.
I had an SXP, but I couldn't get used to the bolt being kicked back on its own. I was always trying to pump it back when it would already be back. I'm not saying it was a bad design, just I couldn't get used to it. I guess i'm just old and not easily adjusted to new stuff.

@@trevorpollo American made used to mean something....been on this earth 78 years, a gun collector for 64, I have 7-590's (A) variants....love them....the SXP out racks them and if you don't believe so, you don't own one to compare and if you didn't know it was made in Turkey, you would be like, this shotgun is great......why the hater.....Turkey is NATO ya know, right?
That M16 on the wall got Russian DNA
The glossy heat shield on the matte barrel and receiver drives me nuts
I’ve had to take mine to a gunsmith twice now. Had failure to feed issues and wouldn’t drop shells out of the tube into the action. My brother has an sxp and it works flawlessly. It’s really just a hit or miss.
Made in turkey. HELL NO!
As much as I love the look of this one, I think mossberg really blew it away with the 590 retrograde. Mossberg and remington really own the field when it comes to the pump these days in my opinion. Love you videos sootch
*What would have really made this SG great, is if they would have made a "Trench Gun" clone.*
*That means make it with a bayonet lug and include an authentic looking bayonet, also; the action should throw lead by holding down the trigger, and pumping out each shell.*
*This really is just a cool looking, well built shotgun, at a great value price.* 💥💥💥💥💥🤠
Thanks Sootch !!! I’ve been thinking about buying this shotgun.
40 ish years ago i had a winchester ranger pump in 12 gauge.
For some reason even though theyre very different this reminds me of my old shotty.
I wanna see the Ithaca remake.... ejects at the bottom.
Panzer arms makes one also made in Turkey called the panzer arms pa37 check it out you might like it if thats what your looking for
Good video Scootch, if you're interested there's youtube tutorials on how to load two and even four shells at once to speed up one's combat reload.
Thank you for this trench shotgun video.
Great review. Informative and concise.
I have the SXP marine defender. I like it, and you can’t beat the price.
You lost me at Turkey.🙄
100
3 shots in 1/2 a second!?! Give me some of that stuff you are smoking! No way in hell a pump beats a semiauto!
An invitation to bring it on ! A true classic 💥
Great to see shotguns being reviewed.👍
Winchester shotguns don't generally fit me, but at that price point I just might make an exception!! Good review Sootch
I will stick with my 500 or 590
If they put the bayonet lug on it, im in
Kinda liked the ac/dc style music good video thanx sootch 😊
Man that bad boy can shoot
Hell yes
Adding to my tool box.
Hopefully the quality control on these is good because many Turkish shotguns are just crap
The trigger guard shape is very Turkish… not very cool. But again, if it functions well, I’d let a few things like that go
most comprehensive vids🤙🏿
nice to see wood on a gun , but really i like the ithica , with slam fire
Looks like a shotgun you would see in Fallout, retro-futuristic.
Would be nice if it had a bayonet lug, would really round out the look.
Similar to the discontinued 1300. I know this is based on the original trench gun design which I love, but I don’t like when the forearm moves over the receiver on cocking. The receiver on my 1300 developed crazy wear marks due to this design. For the price though this gun is irresistible.
Really wish they would offer alternative short length of pull aftermarket stock options for these.
*sootch00* Hay sootch that's quite the shooter you got there, thank-you sir for taking the time to show us. GOD Bless brother.
The tactical condiment salesman
Would have preferred all matte finish.
Aw I was hoping they just made a really moderned up version of a trenchgun reviever.
No bayonet lug = pointless
I have a 97 and 97 riot model. Those are real winchester shotguns. Not what we have here.
Thank you!
Refreshing ! Ringed corncob akin to the mod 12 but more than their low budget Rangers from the 80's .
At least the rangers were U.S. made and I think the parts were interchangeable with 1200/1300 but I'm not sure.
no bayonet lug? That's the most important part.
Built it cheaper, America will love it.
Just a whinchester shotty with wood furniture. Not a trench shotgun=no bayonet.
I'll keep my american made Mossberg 590s. I have a Winchester 1300 from the 80s too. Nice shotgun
I've owned this shotgun going on two years now. If you can find a better shotgun than this one made anywhere........buy it.
If it doesn't slam fire, it is not a trench gun. Itchica!❤
I really like that classic style .
Your channel has always been absolutely amazing! Thanks so much for putting these videos together for us.
Great review as always.
Nice review of a worthy shotgun at a fair price. All the best! "The JJ" SW Penna.
Any idea of what kind of wood the stock is made out to of?
Great video nice Winchester trench sxp 12 GA shotgun thanks for sharing sootch00
Where is the bayonet lug?
For home defense I prefer short spear. Much more quiet.
have you played with the 590 retrograde..... i have it with heat shield..... beautiful gun you have there
I had an SXP, but I couldn't get used to the bolt being kicked back on its own. I was always trying to pump it back when it would already be back. I'm not saying it was a bad design, just I couldn't get used to it. I guess i'm just old and not easily adjusted to new stuff.
