Here's another tip I thought might help : For very detailed characters, always use another layer for coloring, it take time but trust me on the process, it's also useful when shading or appliying effects 😃👌I also advise making storyboards so you don't forget what you're working on .
@@Lokifur Another thing, if you're animating a cartoon-like character, ex: Mickey mouse, Spinel, anything like that you would apply the rules of squash & stretch! Oh, btw, if you want to animate but don't want to draw the lasso around the whole character EVERY. SINGLE. FRAME. to fix a certain mistake, you can double tap the lasso tool twice and it automatically selects the whole character!
The fact that the top of the ball lined up with one of the gridlines before the grid was even turned on is so satisfying 😔🙌 also your art style is gorgeous and adorable, thanks for the tutorial :D

Little tips!: •if you’re working on big projects,I recommend 80-90 frames for a smooth result! • if you don’t like tracing, you can copy and paste with the lasso tool if your using layers your art on the other frames :) •WHEN ANIMATING, TRY NOT TO BE LAZY OR RUSHED ABOUT IT. Take your time! It takes a while to finish it :3 •I recommend coloring before doing another frame, when doing coloring last, you can sometimes loose the color each frame and it gets complicated. Especially when you’re lazy!
Hey! I just wanna say (I forget if I commented before) that this tutorial and the tweening one helped me out a LOT, and animation is actually a lot more fun! I'm actually in the very beginning stages of a silly animated series, one I don't think I would want to pull off without this!

Thank you so much! I'll keep this on my animating playlist so I don't forget, I finally decided to animate again after nearly a year of no motivation and this helped me a lot 😭🙏
You should try out the pose to pose method, it really helped me in my animating journey! It’s basically where you draw all the main poses, space them out, and then add the inbetweens! (It makes it smooth again)
The main thing shown here for smoothness is an “ease in, ease out” technique. I’m a beginner myself so it may not be the best advice, but in general, lots of movement over a couple frames means fast, which usually turns into smear frames when you’re showing very fast movement. Slow movement is shown like you did with the ball-little movement shown in lots of frames. Another trick I found to help improve smoothness is to set your key frames first on a much lower fps (I use 3 or smth like that usually). For people who don’t know what I mean, it’s the key poses in an animation. In this, when the furry starts, when they shut their eyes, and the final pose after that. It looks pretty rough when you start, but if you start filling in your inbetween frames with an eye for timing (reference the “ease in” or “ease out” or both thing to achieve different looks) it can look pretty smooth, even if you’re a beginner! Final tip: when you are reaching the furthest pose (for example: a hand reaching out) always make the last pose overshoot, or just go a little bit further. It looks more organic than if you don’t. That may not apply to all animations-just some tips I find work from one beginner to another :]
Well, it can pretty much depend! The body can stretch within, or in the video the fur goes a bit up from the neck :] I think it would look better if the body does move up. If the character looks up, the neck can also go down. Also if it has fur it can go down. (Sorry if the explaining is a bit unclear) but i hope this helped somehow ^^ You can ask more questions if this was a bit unclear ;^;

Heres a detail no one seems to be suggesting; USE KEYFRAMES. Keyframes are crucial in any frame by frame animation. You cant just do one frame and then the next frame aimlessly. After you do that, you have to draw the in-betweens, which will be harder for a higher fps animation. And as for the ball, many professionals use a time chart. Thats how they organize the slow-ins and slow-outs of the animation between keyframes.
