Eric: lyrically I have no idea what's going on
Alex on top of his lungs: C H E E S E B U R G E R
KEY CHAAAAANAGEEES
I find that long time fans generally like this album more than those who just jumped on at AM. This is probably because it’s not very hook driven, like AM was, but I find it much more superior because of this. Lots of long time fans were very disappointed with AM as they found it to be more safe and a little less provocative, and Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino is far from being safe. It’s great to see the album growing on people finally as it’s an enriching experience, I think it’ll have a similar experience as their 3rd album Humbug, which was disliked on release but is now a fan favourite.
Gus Webb It's the same for me
I agree. Humbug has always been my favorite. TBHC might soon displace it.
I'm on of those fans who jumped in after AM came out, no way is my favourite Arctic Monkeys record, in fact Whatever people say that's what I'm not and Favourite Worst Nightmare are my favorites
see i started listening them after AM was released and i love the album but i dont think its their best album by a long shot. me personally i love every single one of their songs (including Tranquillity) I think that Whatever people say i am or FWN or Humbug are my favourite albums by them its just a divide i love them three so much
I didn’t find Arctic Monkeys, until AM. Have listened to AM and enjoyed it more than their previous albums. TBHAC is my current favorite.
She looks like fun is about Instagram posts where everyone posts photos of what a good time they're having.'Cheeseburger' and 'Snowboarding' are photo captions.
exactly, and the words he sings between the "she looks like fun"s lines are actually the pictures you can see on his girlfriend's instagram!

The ‘Moon’s sideboob’ line comes from when Alex was out with Jamie Cook one night in LA and there was a crescent moon which Jamie pointed to and referred to it as “the moon’s sideboob”
is this verified? ONE OF MY FAVOURITES LYRICS COMES FROM JAMIE?
Leonardo G. Yep, Alex says it in this interview ua-cam.com/video/OB5VugKAhto/v-deo.html
@@leonardowaldo3157 jamie is the secret master mind tbh.

THIS IS CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED! Thank you so much for reviewing it, this album deserves so much more.
The album is terrible, one of the blandest I’ve heard. Nothing memorable about it whatsoever.
Someone gets how good this record is
I never thought that they would produce a better album than Humbug, but, for me, TBHAC is their best work so far.
She looks like fun is about social media
She looks like fun is a look at social media. “Good morning, cheeseburger, snowboarding” is scrolling through your news feed.
“Smile like you’ve got a straw in something tropical” - girls pulling duckfaces, stupid posing.
“Finally, I can share with you through cloudy skies every whimsical thought that enters my mind” - well I guess that’s self explanatory.
Love the lyrics to that song, very interesting.
“Dance as if somebody’s watchin... cause they are” One of my favorites, so chilling and then the little solo after just makes me think of someone dancing in a 1984-like dystopia.
Ive always figured that this album isn’t about a literal moonbase, but more about living in a decaying society and desperately searching for purpose and originality. It’s a symbolic, melancholy ballad of modernity.
Yep
“dance as if somebody is watching cuz they are” is one of my top 5 favorite lyrics on the album
I feel like I can in trust you with my financial information.
I give this video Four Stars Out of Five and Thats Unheard of
That One Voice Actor that’s a waisted reference mate.
5/5 for me
Absolutely love this album. The Arctic Monkeys have evolved with my taste so perfectly - capturing my youthful energy, giving me solace in my angsty days, good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll for my best weekends - and just as I get into jazz / lounge, thicker harmony, and '60s - '70s music,, they drop this masterpiece. Best band.
My favourite Arctic Monkey's records are the ones where they don't do something that is immediate on the ears. This is my favourite album of their's. American Sports has the most amazing vocal melodies, and the way the vocals, piano and bass intertwine in that song gives me goosebumps.
I love how the albums displayed in the room change from review to review to reflect influences and similarities
Yeah, the importance of details.
I’m super blown away by the quality of your reviews - I’ve only been watching your videos for a little bit but I can confidently say that you are among the best music channels on UA-cam. Your passion for the music is obvious, your descriptions are vivid and descriptive, and your understanding of the background ideas of albums goes far beyond what many others even attempt. You deserve a lot more subs as it currently stands but I have no doubt you’ll make it big. Keep up the good work man
i love this album. i heard it a little bit through seeing it on youtube but after listening to the full album on vinyl a week ago i couldn’t stop listening to it
Even if I don’t love she Looks like fun as much as the other songs, the solo is just awesome and it sounds a lot like late-beatles George Harrison
AM that solo is pretty good. Also Harrison is awesome
The solo guitar on She Looks Like Fun is a high point for the album, despite the song being a low point.
The one downvoter remind you of a wrestler wearing tight golden trunks
Huh?
I'm pretty sure she looks like fun is all about social media and it's influence on us for example "finally I can share with you through cloudy skies, every whimsical thought that enters my mind" with the cloudy skies referring to the internet (cause some people call it the cloud) and the whimsical thoughts just being people expressing whatever random stuff pops into their head or whatever they're feeling on their social media profile. Also in an interview Alex said as he was writing the song a thing popped up on his phone and as he got distracted he saw a picture of a cheeseburger so he wrote it in the song.
This album is so so underrated and it is FANTASTIC, such a masterpiece. Great review!
You’re the next Anthony fantano this channel is awesome
Jupiter Kenser better
He's better than Fantano. Fantano's reviews are incredibly biased and his prejudice towards certain artists shows.

This channel has a pro material and deserved a lot more views.
While this isn't my favourite AM album, I absolutely adore it! It's just so strange, when it came out I was immediately drawn to it while friends of mine hated it saying that Alex Turner had gone full David Bowie (and not in a good way) and they refuse to give it another chance. My favourite tracks have to be One Point Perspective, Golden Trunks, Science Fiction and The Ultracheese. Thanks for reviewing it!!
Thank you for the great review! I will pick up a copy of this album tomorrow. Your show is fantastic...I look forward to every episode. Thanks so much!
I like all of their albums but in my opinion this album is their most artistic and their most mature work so far. The lyrical work of Alex Turner and the melodies are just genius. It just need some time and a few listenings to appreciate it the way it deserves. You have to listen the whole album from the beginning to the end to feel the aesthetic. This album is a great piece of art.
Quick guide to song context and characters
Star Treatment: Sung by a an ageing, world weary, washed up lounge singer performing at the hotel as part of a residency.
One Point Perspective: The drunken ramblings of a lone performer who has been hit hard by the thought of his own mortality and the end of the world.
American Sports: The smug thoughts/confessions of an ex-musician with mafia connections (inspired by Frank Sinatra) who now lives in exile at the hotel.
TBH&C: The observations made about some of the hotel guests by receptionist Mark including a few lines of random conversation he has had with them.
Golden Trunks: The intimate conversation between two eccentric lovers sharing a bedroom who also make trivial observations about the world below.
Four Out Of Five: An Advertisement for the Hotel itself, presumably shown on one of the rooms Televisions, inviting people and highlighting the taqueria on the roof called the ‘Information Action Ratio’.
TWFEMTFF: Sung by one of the guests who is addicted to the handheld technologies available that allow pointless digital videos to occupy the brains.
Science Fiction: Sung by a songwriter nursing a hangover who is disturbed by the religious fanaticism, aware that the machines are taking over.
She Looks Like Fun: Sung by one of the younger guests at a party where the goers beam VR images into their heads and date each other in their virtual worlds.
Batphone: The reminiscent thoughts of a cynical drinker at Tinsel City (the hotel bar), recalling a past lover who he longs to receive a booty call from once again.
The Ultracheese: Sung by a lounge jazz pianist on a Steinway piano crooning about how he still has old friends on social media but never sees them anymore.
Great review, Arctic Monkeys is my favorite band. I think it's important to appreciate the evolution of their style album to album, Alex said it himself that there was nothing more to make with "AM". I'm excited to see what this leads to.
Also, with The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip: Alex saw the title of that video online and found it interesting how captivating of a video title it was, the album is littered with technology use references. I also think that the concept of it is imagining a place in the future to look back on the present. I can't quite recall the interviews I heard some of this information.
It’s definitely a grower. My first impressions of this album weren’t good to say the least. I still don’t think it’s their best album but it’s far from an awful album.
LOVE Tranquility base 💕
Hi Geek! Personally I really love this album! The harmonies are incredible with amazing piano and bass guitar lines! Thank You for sharing!
Congrats to Eduardo of TX for winning the album on vinyl!
I really love this album. A lot of longtime fans have dismissed it as sounding too different and not as energetic as their past works but i honestly think this might be some of the best work they've done. There's a maturity, cheekiness and observational tone in the songwriting that i find intriguing and a pleasure to listen to. Also feel like the guitar work on this
One of the greatest album of current time, it's totally a lounge pop and that is best enjoyed as a background song in a big hall with medium and medium to low volume.
Alex purposely made AM weebs die. He intentionally wrote an album that true fans love and that AM stans hate. Thanks Alex
How do you not have more subs!??!?!?! You're production quality is so gooood!!!!!
I love this album
Hey, this is an awesome review! I adore this album, and even months after it’s release, I’m still captivated by it in every single way. My personal favourites are Star Treatment, One Point Perspective, and the Ultracheese but to be honest, I love all the tracks. Absolutely brilliant.
Θεόδωρος Αρετάκης και το four out of five
Sense Of Doubt - Panorama και αυτό είναι ένα φανταστικό τραγούδι
this man is a liar
Ikaro Bagano wdym? (Nice profile pic btw haha)
Personally, she looks like fun is my favorite track. I just love the deep voiced chanting and stuff, but thats my opinion.
The line in "She looks like fun" that says "No one's on the streets. We moved it all online, as of March" before COVID happened immediately moves it up a peg.
she looks like fun is supposed to be a song about online media, saying "she looks like fun" in reference to meeting people on tinder, and the random words in the chorus symbolising pop up advertisements
I never got into this band. Not because I think they're bad, but I just had too many other things to listen to. This album, however, hooked me immediately. I love spacey lounge sound.
I love this album. I have been an Arctic Monkeys from about 09 and love all their early stuff, but AM just didn't do it for me it felt to commercial and was lacking the Alex Turner cleverness and charm. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino however I think is a great, albeit alienating album for some fans, which I understand as it is largely unlike anything they done before. However, for me this is one of their best albums and I am glad you did a video about it because I really enjoying hearing what people thought of it. Oh and She Looks Like Fun is about scrolling through a social media feed, like instagram and seeing cheese burgers and snowboarding sort of idea.
Is that what that songs about? Did u get that frm an interview or something?!
I think Alex talked about it in one interview but I can't remember. But i just get that feeling from the lyric "Finally, I can share with you through cloudy skies/ Every whimsical thought that enters my mind" I just kind of imagined it as sending your thoughts through the skies to a satellite and then coming back into someones phone.
@@mwstriker98 The cloudy skies line could also reference The Cloud
While I'm happy that they stepped away from the hooky nature of AM, I'm still warming up to the sci-fi/space theme to this album. I thought thought you gave this album a very fair and solid review.
this is the first arctic monkeys' album i listened... well... for me it's a record of the year... period...
This room where you did this video... it really reflects my vision of the tranquility Base Hotel and Casino style, soo cool. I'm a long time fan and I fucking loved this album.
Also, you saying "I don't really know what the lyrics are about on this one" about She Looks Like Fun then the song with Alex singing:" CHEEESEBURGERSSS" ahahah killed me.
You got to LOVE this album!
Dude this guy style is always perfect
I love this album so much, The Ultracheese is easily my favorite song of the year, incredible vocals!
This album fits the set and dress so well haha
I'm a long term fan and I honestly think it is one of the best albums they have produced, Alex is a lyrical genius.
i love how respectful this review is, it really illustrates that ultimately, we all have different tastes. I've seen some frankly cruel reviews of this album, and it's really refreshing to see someone who can be subjective and opinionated while also retaining dignity for those who may disagree. for instance, 'she looks like fun' is one of my personal favorites on the album, and this interview really did a good job at honestly reviewing it without bashing it.
I think AM is overrated, this new album has successfully killed off the AM band wagoners and I can appreciate Alex for doing that
People say AM is overrated just cos its so big worldwide, but I think monkeys fans from before AM underrate it just because its really big which is sad
Yes! AM is decent but it has bad reputation because of the fangirls that knew the band because of AM
AM is pretty good and has some good production
I like AM and this album.
Omg I was so excited to see this!
I love albums that require more time to really understand them. It’s like building a relationship with the album. This one is really growing on me. I hated it at first but now I think I’m falling in love.
Its such a good album, i cant get over how much i like it
I love this album, by far I think my favorite other than Humbug. It's just so cool to see Alex Turner evolve over the years. Humbug and this album showcases Alex's voice and man he has a fantastic voice. Comparing his voice now to when he first started, Alex has changed so much. He's sings with so much passion, with deeper vocals and pleasant falsettos, and he just amazes me.
I saw Arctic Monkeys twice this summer. Each time, I was always just awestruck and in love with the band. I work at a radio station and I play Arctic Monkey's new album whenever I can, it's just so good.
Sweet tie
Loved the album
Saw them live at osheaga
love this album, loved it from the very start and it was all i'd listen to when it came out. i hope they continue featuring the piano on their music because it's so good, but who knows! they do change a lot and that's why i can listen to their music so often and never get tired of it.
Nothing to do with the album but I love the 60s aesthetic of that room. I wish my whole house looked like that! And your styles incredible
For me, The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip is all about data storage and the name sake refers to possibly a video that would be stored along with other things on a device, like an image of 'You and Jeanie in stetson hats etc.
My favourite album of theirs. Even a Bukowski reference!
Finally someone who understands the concept and appreciates it!
She Looks Like Fun is about how we can say whatever we want through social media (#cheesburger, #snowboarding) hence "finally i can share with you through cloudy skies every whimsical thought that enters my mind"
dude.....this channel is DOPE!
its good to see all the hate for this album slowly fade away, this is some of their best work
That's my boy Connor, Hank would be proud!
he really looks like Connor!
Fantastic. I love how people are making such reviews about this guys.
I bought there album 'beneath the boardwalk' off myspace in 2004. I'm the same age as them and from Sheffield. Seen them once in Sheffield, once in Manchester cricket ground with 50,000 fans and seen the last shadow puppets in Sheffield. Each of their albums seems to go in a different direction. I just saw it as them maturing, evolving and experimenting. After hearing the last shadow puppets and the submarine movie sound track, I really wasn't surprised that Alex had the tranquility album in him. Its not on them to pander to anyone, it's on us to keep up with their genius. If your taste isn't sophisticated enough then that's your loss, your problem. And that's not us being pretentious, maybe you're just basic. Alex is an old red wine in a dusty celler in Paris. Not a beer on tap. And for anyone struggling to understand them, just watch the movie Kes. Then you'll understand what part of the world they're coming from
Brilliant album. The kind that gets better with every listen.
I've got this on clear vinyl..great record!!
I absolutely loved this album! One of Arctic Monkeys' best works!
I got this album in cassette, duplicated by Brazilian vinyl plant Polysom, just to see how their tapes sound like, went in completely blind. As someone who didn't really care about Arctic Monkeys for years, I really like it, and it only grew in me with each listen. By the way, there was also a Brazilian vinyl pressing of this album, which is pretty rare for Polysom to press international releases, not sure how it compares to the original Domino UK one.
Now, I just woke up. It's 6:50 IST
I need to go to school, but priorities. Long live the vinyl geek!
I love the sound of this thing !!! Makes me feel calm and good !!
At times his vocals sound just like Bowie.
Your channel is excellent. I've recommended it to several people.
Awesome content and great channel. Amazing band and this album is fantastic. Thanks for creating and sharing this review.
Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino and Favourite Worst Nightmare are my fav albums by them
YOU NEED MORE VIEWS MAN! I support you from now on
I’ve always compared parts of this album to pet sounds and Phil Spector. Finally someone agrees
I personally like this album more than AM
Glad you put Bowie's records on the background
It's a masterpiece and people are only just now realising it.
What a nice review! I have the limited edition clear vinyl and it's a piece of art! The design is amazing on this album!
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEEAAAA. Been waiting for this! Thank youuuu!
I love the Lounge Lizard style of the band so much.
I actually searched your channel for a video on this album, and here it is! Love your channel so much. I’ve been thinking of maybe sending you some records to check out...
I'm a long time fan and it took me a while to get used to AM but now i love it and when i heard this i liked it and the more and more i listened to it the more and more i liked it, Also the track She Looks Like Fun is one of my favourites for this album, containing my favourite lyrics from the album "Dance as if somebody's watchin, cos they are" which leads into a nice guitar solo. I just think that line really represents the world we live in these days.
Even though you put "the" before Arctic Monkeys, I will forgive you because I am SO EXCITED that you are finally talking about Arctic Monkeys!!!
Listen to bleachers gone now, it’s such a good crafted pop album
Well, For me this masterpiece is the first step of an new arctic monkeys era with a new style but for me this is steel rock or whatever we can say that is one. I consider this one like an glam rock album or maybe space rock album as they designed in wikipedia. I really loved this album and it reminds me The Last Shadow Puppet's album The Dream Synopsis (2016). As their singer always said, don't believe the hype.
Mine is not black it's this sort of stone Grey or whatever. Definitely a great piece of art work in the highest expression of the mature Alex turner.
I've got the clear one, and it looks siiiiiick
Favorite record of the year
Amazing video, great production. I love the set!
Great review man🙌
You had no idea about she looks like fun back then.
I think you know it all now.
Just found your channel, and It's great to see someone who is clearly so positive about music! I would recommend reviewing Random Access Memories by Daft Punk, as it gives me a lot of the same relaxed vibes that this album does.
