      I love Redken Brushable hairspray 12 medium hold. It’s great on very fine hair. It’s workable and dry ,adds texture and for me when it’s brushed out and reapplied it makes the styling even better. Love, love, love it. A moisturiser and heat protectant I love is Bondi Boost Prep + Protect Hair Primer (I don’t know if it’s available in the UK) it’s also excellent for fine, slightly frizzy hair. I agree with you on not liking oils! BB doesn’t add weight but smooths beautifully and adds moisture making fly away hair behave. Love your videos, you are very generous with your knowledge and entertaining. Thanks!

    As volume is for my hair more a problem than a goal I never use all those texture-giving goodies.
    My hair is ridiculously thick and tends to frizz. Every hairdressers loves my hair, but on a daily basis it is a struggle to keep it in check so I don't look like a dandelion seedhead, at the end of the day.
    My only pro go-to stylingproduct is Olaplex bond-smoother (no. 6). It keeps my hair in check without making it hard and sticky.
    My hair reacts well on oils and balms because it is as dry as kindling

      Think of it like dry shampoo/soft hold hairspray had a baby, it’s for volume at the root and the softest hold, with texture.

      So the tricky thing with recommending Sephora haircare is the UK stock different line to the US…and I can’t even access the US site from over here.
      The best formulations for hard water are ones that are NOT sodium lauryl sulfate free.

      Thanks for your response. Will keep an eye out for your shampoo video. Am thinking that Sephora's UK stock might be similar to Canadas Sephora stock as we can't access the US site either and many of the US brands are unavailable at Canada's sephora. Thanks also for your suggestion not to use sulfate free shampoos for hard well water . .. would that include all "sulfate free" shampoos or just those without sodium lauryl sulfate? TSM!

    What is the difference between drugstore and professional products? Where would the investment be wisest? In shampoo and conditioner or styling products? Should one use an entire line or not? Advice please.

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  2 місяці тому +1

      The difference is often (not always) the level of development that goes into the formulations and the quality of ingredients - that’s not to say that cheaper/drug store products are bad, they are simply different.
      It’s tricky to give you an answer as to where to make the investment. For example, as I mention into video, my favourite texture spray is only £6…but it’s so good I’d pay £20 for it.
      If your hair has specific needs like adding strength or stopping colour from fading I would suggest investing in pro formulas for shampoos and conditioner.
      You might well find next weeks video helpful….

    Hi Craig! Greeting from NYC! Thank you for another great video! I’m always looking for your content! I normally don’t use a hairspray since I cut down heat styling. Have you tried Kevin Murphy’s Touchable Hairspray or the Bedroom Hairspray? I’ve found the bedroom hairspray to be very soft and very brushable and doesn’t leave a crispy texture like other hair sprays but my experience with styling products are pretty limited, the other hairsprays I have tried in the past are the Oribe’s Superfine Strong hair spray, The Invisible Defense Spray and the Dry Texturizing Hair Spray. I have a few styling products from Oribe that I have no absolute idea how to use correctly 😂 I didn’t like the Invisible Defense spray because it felt very very sticky and oily, I rarely ever return a product but I hated so much I actually returned it 😂.
    What do you think of the K18 Dry Shampoo btw? Do you think if it could also be used as a light setting spray? I’ve never used a dry shampoo in my life so I don’t know what to expect.

    Thanks for another really informative video! Sad to hear that Redken Big Blowout is being discontinued in the UK; it's great. If you're still looking for suggestions for future videos, I'd love to hear an expert opinion on protein overload as I have fine, curly hair and am susceptible to it. It would be great to have some professional recommendations for products that don't contain protein (as so many seem to now) but also to find out if there are some milder formulations of products that make hair strong when it's been damaged that it would be ok to use. I'd also like to know more about high-lift lighteners and lightening shampoos, etc. and why they are bad (as you briefly mentioned in one of your drugstore videos). Many thanks!

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for your kind words and for watching, I really appreciate your support.
      Yes, I’m such a fan and will be stocking up!
      So “protein overload” isn’t really an issue with modern haircare formulations - it’s really a left over from a different time and even then it’s a bit of a myth.
      Contemporary formulas most often contain a balance of both protein and moisture - if you were to use a purely protein based treatment, (I don’t know of many that sill exist) you’d have to use it repeatedly, every day, with your hair already being compromised for it to cause breakage.
      My go to treatment is K18 Molecular Mask - there’s an entire playlist of videos on here that go into it in detail. You’ll see on the ingredients list that is contains a little protein, this is used as a carrier for the peptide that does the repair, (as is often the case in modern formulas) there isn’t enough in there to cause “protein overload”.

    • @rachelwaring5020
      @rachelwaring5020 2 місяці тому +1

      @@theworldofcraig That's really interesting, thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I've had quite a bad reaction to products containing protein a few times - the Redken Extreme range, several keratin masks, and even if I use Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer too much. My hair suddenly becomes very brittle and extra frizzy, starts to snap and my curl pattern goes - until I use clarifying shampoo and really simple products for a while. I had assumed this was being sensitive to protein as taking it away seemed to help. Maybe I'm having a reaction to something else!

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  2 місяці тому

      @@rachelwaring5020 You’re welcome. The Extreme range does contain a lot of protein but there is some moisture in there too…that said it might (possibly) be too much for your hair but “protein overload” is a bit of a hairstylist break room “myth”.
      I think you’d really enjoy K18 if you have had issues with your hair being weak, it is incredible…and they don’t pay me to say that.

      No questions are dumb here at TWOC! It really depends on the hair texture - although I rarely use anything oily or greasy…even on thick/textured hair. I’d rather something slippy, with dimethicone in the formula. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. 👨🏻🙏🏻✨

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  2 місяці тому +2

      Hairspray holds hair in place - different formulas have different “holds”.
      Texture Spray has a volumising effect on the hair, creates movement and texture - like a soft hold hairspray with a little “grittiness” to it.
