That's her primary caretaker, her "dad/mom". She associates him with love, kindness, food, comfort, companionship, scratching, tummy rubs, rough and tumbles. She knows his smell, what he looks like, his behavior when in her company, he is her family. She loves her human. She will never forget him. Her loyalty is sure, as long as she's well fed, taken care of and he maintains regular contact with her. Any other human should probably not attempt the same priveleged association with her.
The man saved the lioness when she was a cub, she recognise him as her friend & rescuer. 💜 This is truly a heartwarming story of a close bond between an animal & a human. 💜

I had the gentlest, loving, female cat. One day I was putting an object on a shelf and the whole thing collapsed making this huge noise as it broke to the floor. When my cat heard this, she quickly ran over and bit my leg.... really hard. She did that out of fear, but I remember thinking if she had been a lion my leg would have had a huge gash. (Or, it could have been my neck!)

Of course she does know her strenght, all big animals do. Otherwise they would constantly kill their offspring (at least animals that raise their young) on accident. But human skin is very fragile in comparrisson to other animals of our size and lions have sharp claws, so scratches will happen.

You know this man raised this lion with lots of love. I was impressed that a human-raised lion knew how to hunt just by instinct. I wasn’t shocked - just impressed. I think Sirga sees him as her family. It doesn't even cross her mind at all that he could be prey. It's such a beautiful bond, I think in her mind, he's a lion that just looks different. I love love the connection. I love how God made everything especially animals and just deposited this level of love in them, I see that in my dogs as well, when a stranger is around he acts really violently like he can tear them apart, but then with me and the family, you can even put your hand in his mouth and no harm. Cesar Romero (the dog whisperer) would tell you that your dog should absolutely not act violently to a stranger & fix -- or at least attempt to fix -- that behavior. As he says, he rehabilitates dogs & trains people.
When you get a little hurt, it is like with some of our big dogs with a lot of energy. They don't know their own strength and just want to exuberantly play or cuddle or sometimes want to vigorously want to guard us and in all there excitement to rush to the door and bark, they may accidentally harm us. Such a sweet relationship she has with you. You are definitely her Mr. MOM.
What you are doing for Sirga and other wild creatures is awesome. You've done a great job raising her. I love how she jumps into your arms as she has done from her youth. Such a rewarding career you have.
