    DEFINITELY do a video review on the UAD plugins, with special emphasis on Mark's opinion on them ^^ Would love to see what his honest opinion is. (Especially compared to his Waves LA2A, etc plugins.) Disclaimer, I own UAD and am absolutely convinced they're a league above Waves stuff - just would like to see Mark admitting this 😂

    • @nj1255

      They are definitely above most of Waves stuff. The quality of Waves plug-ins differ wildly, and even though they have a couple of gems, most of it are not even closet to same level as the UAD stuff. Lindell Audio probably makes the stuff that's closest to UAD's analog emulations (IMO). There are other developers that make just as good analog emulations - like Softube, Kush Audio etc. - but Lindell's plug-ins sound and behave the closest to UAD's plug-ins.

    I’m so glad to hear you guys are doing well with the mastering. Definitely give the man a break. That’s too many hours per week.
    I think Universal audio is very smart with releasing the native spark system. 1176s and Studer emulation at $20 per month to me is worth it alone. But with UA buying out Bock microphones and releasing the SD1 @ 100 usd less than the sure SM7B and having released the non-DSP volt hardware series should work well with the Spark system. Again I’m happy to see that you’re getting a high demand on your mastering, but give the man a day off and make flop cat the executive mastering engineer. Cheers

    I would rather just pay them once, then I could use the plug-in anytime I wanted, and not find that 3 years down the line, after I have stopped my subscription, I revisit a project and it needs a specific plug-in, only available from UAD. I hate all this subscription crap, make the plug-ins nativesure, but let us buy them! Another brilliant video. Cheers Guys

      Not sure if you've learned this since commenting, but you CAN just buy UAD plugs once. Anything you own is automatically available in Spark (once they've ported it over), free of charge. No sub necessary. Cheers.

    This is certainly unexpected from UAD. I still remember commenting about being surprised their stuf isn't supported natively and since assumed it was just their business strategie (much like Apple). Not too fussed about the fact that it's subsciption based though...

    Not really interested in whatever UAD is trying to sell and I’m just interested in Atmos in terms of how far the tech has come, I’ll be honest. I did, however, miss you guys!
    P.S.: The mastering price is still bloody amazing, don’t sweat it!

    Hey Mark, have you checked the Hornet plugins Samp for Atmos? "SAMP resolves this issue by providing four classic master bus processors that are linked together, so a change on an instance of SAMP is reflected on every other instance, simultaneously." It would be nice for a video review.

    I have almost finished writing a surround album but I tend to only make objects for any moving thing that might need better translation when changing speaker setups. I have yet to get my hands on a cheap modern day receiver so I can test a delivery method. My question is how many object channels can average home theatre receivers process? In my experiments I only need to master the bed as stuff moving around doesn't really need it and just needs to be turned up a little.

    If you were in the market to now purchase an apollo interface, which would you buy the solo or twin x? I was thinking of purchasing the twin x because of the extra DSP but with the plugins being able to go native now does it now make more sense to go with the SOLO interface and pay nearly half the price for it? From my research, the preamps and sound quality are the same which is also the main reason for me wanting an apollo.

    Last things first. You're pricing stays extremely fair and if I may speak as a customer, worth every penny!
    I'd like to see a review on UAD spark, one thing which made me curious in particular. In an early magazine review the CPU, yes CPU load of the DSP plugins were higher, than the native CPU based ones. It would be interesting to see, whether you can copy that behaviour.

    Very interested is a review of the UAD plugins. I’m intrigued whether they are any better than standalone competitors, as many say they are. Practically, I hate the idea (which may be a misconception?) that a sing/mix I’ve made using them becomes non-functional if (when?) I eventually get sick of paying monthly subs?

    • @kehindea
      @kehindea 2 роки тому +1

      Come on man. Freeze the audio tracks so you have them baked in. Also if you need to adjust anything you can subscribe for one month. Gee people moaning about subscription services when they’re on the internet because of a subscription and are happy to subscribe to Netflix, puhleez!

    • @AmateurHuman19
      @AmateurHuman19 2 роки тому +1

      I can second the committing/freezing tracks idea, especially in the new PT where you can commit your plugins to a new playlist, but it is a workaround for your genuine issue. My first reaction was, from a mix engineer's perspective - try to not go back to songs like that. Finish the mix, commit to your decisions, and move on. I think it's ultimately damaging as an engineer/artist to not focus yourself on the process of finishing, because you could ALWAYS decide to change something, forever. Until you die. DAWs are a trap like that.
      The value is, if you buy the plugs and can use them natively, it gives you an upgrade path to a UAD hardware unit eventually without being locked out. In the past, you'd be completely SOL until you got a Duo or something.
      *Edit* - also I can +1, UAD plugs are the MOST inspiring plugs I've ever had the joy of playing with. The compressors alone make the competition's offerings feel like cheap Chinese knock offs (I'm looking at YOU, Waves)

    IMO it's not worth $19.99/month at the moment with what they are currently offering when you have competitors like Plugin Alliance, Waves and Slate which give you way more for the same price or less.

  • @kehindea
    @kehindea 2 роки тому +8

    Too little too late. No Windows licence until later in the year and everything they’re offering have been bundles by others like Slate, Plugin Alliance and rip off merchants Waves. Even DAWs have similar solutions. It’s a welcome step for those invested in UAD hardware but didn’t really excite me as much as it should. This is because I have already invested in alternative solutions.
