the "cookie jar" is a RUM TOPF. Throughout tbe year, fruits get collected and "perserved" in RUM. Add some sugar and by winter time, the RUMTOPF is done. The fruit is blessed by the alkohol. Thats how we German's celebrate the fruit bounty in the winter.
Your badge is a 'St. Christopher' medallion that were usually placed in vehicles to keep the riders safe from harm. The wings denote those of the angels also keeping you out of harms way. (Quick, safe travels). 🙂
Alex you are looking younger and slimmer and more handsome than ever. I don't think we as your viewers ever realised how much pressure you were under during Covid with the store.😢😊❤
Thanks for taking us on this adventure. Sorry you got stuck, but glad you worked it out and got us there! My favorite items were the matching glass candy jars you didn't pick. 😂 Happy ST. PATTYS DAY
It looks like a Dutch license plate, now known as historic plates. These plates were registered between 1951-1978. The one on the table looks like one of the first round registered. Because of the 2 letters in the front
@@mirandabruning3953 definitively Portuguese, the font is different, larger also. If you look it up, you will see the difference. I do absolutely understand why you would mistake one for the other.
1st channel is GREAT! as a collector I've learned so much. So thank you Alex. I think we should create a new drinking game where we take a shot every time Alex says "little "!
18:08 Alex I believe the medal with the wings is not military but a St. Christopher medal that folks used to hang in their cars on the visor or some had an adhesive on the back to hang on the dashboard. St. Christopher is the Patron saint of travelers.
Enjoy your videos but, unless I missed it, it would be helpful if you could tell us what things cost. If not individually, then the total cost. It helps us going to our local estate sales to understand what people will accept for things.
The Indian matchbox is cool, the factory where they built the motorcycles is close to where I live. They turned it into condos about twenty years ago unfortunately. Very cool building “V” shaped. All the brickwork is still used. Mason square area, lots of old buildings.
I keep meaning to mention it but the word you're looking for is a beaded chain rather than a toilet chain. Beaded chains can be made of stainless steel or nickel plate. Great video content Alex. Thanks for posting.
There are two countries that use that arrangement of numbers and letters on their licence plates, The Netherlands and Portugal. The raised letters WERE common in the UK in the 1960s, but not with that arrangement of numbers and letters.
In the comment from @DoroHiro he said instead of a cookie jar, that it was a Rum Topf. During the year various fruit was added to rum in that jar along with some sugar thus preserving it and by the end of the year concoction was then enjoyed. Interesting.
You can get all that military pins and buttons for very cheap online. The only thing that is worth 100 bucks is the shell art turned into a wine holder. The pocket knives are 1 dollar each online. And the figurines are all 1 dollar each online. The made in Germany steins are 3 to 4 dollars each. The guy has nothing of value except the shell turned into a wine holder . The pipe made of flow blue ceramic is cool I didn't think his wife smoked a pipe though he said that was his wife stuff ? He is con job . He said they go for 1200 . His whole house is not worth 1200. Empty the swords . Average 100 dollars each
Just because she didn't smoke a pipe doesn't mean it wasn't hers. Maybe someone special to her gave it to her. Just like the other stuff was special to her for whatever reason. Might not have had monetary value but had a lot of sentimental value to her which is why he didn't want to sell it. Just like I have an old 1930's Gillette razor that was my grandpa's. I don't shave my face but it's mine. Obviously Alex knew a lot of that stuff wasn't worth much or he would have come home with it.
My father and his cousin took two of the families Confederate swords and started cutting down the corn crop . Cousin Emory said they got the worst beating of their lives for their actions. Spare the rod and spoil the child was taken to heart in the 1930's and 1940's.

Those weren’t just figurines in that cabinet but Hummels from Germany probably close to or over $200 each
Love Hummels!
Great haul!I don’t always comment, but always hit the like button!
Nice finds! I liked everything. Especially the thermometer. Thank you Alex!
Nice to see some old Dutch stuff at your video. Greets from holland ;-)
Im 54 and remember using a ringer washer. Sure hurts when you get it pintched.
My grandma used hers a lot especially in winter when electric rates were higher. And we line dried our clothes no matter what season it was.
My stepmom used to tell me horror stories about the ringer machines. She used to make her help her with the wash and was scared to death ❤❤❤
Great video Alex. Thanks for the meet up the other day with you and Bill 😊
Long time no see Bob, hope all is well ❤
That pitcher on top of that shelf is called Iris and Herringbone. It is depression glass and we have a LOT of it.
I like the indian motorcycle matchbox
Thank you for taking us along! Very interesting.
Hope you are feeling better and the rest of the family is healthy and looking forward to Spring!
Awesome again 🎸🎸 🎸🎸
Loved the beautiful Dresden figurines in the cabinet. At least they looked like Dresden. I think they would sell good if they were.
They were charming, one shouldn't overlook the dainty in favour of the rustic.
Awesome video as always, thank you🙏😃
Good finds Alex!
The Jedi portfolio reminded me of that amazing Star Wars artist you visited!
Hello Alexander. You have an early Royal Tank Corp cap badge. Tanks were first used in the Great War.
Thanks! Learned turtle wax for the metal signs, we have a bunch from our parents hoard that could shine up!
Alex you are looking younger and slimmer and more handsome than ever. I don't think we as your viewers ever realised how much pressure you were under during Covid with the store.😢😊❤

Lovely finds, Alex. I hope you have fun with your research on those military badges and that you get lucky.
Thanks, a word of caution practice bombs sometimes have a smoke charge.
Great thing you found...thanks for sharing...🥰🥰
Hi Alex, that licence palte really looks like an old Dutch one. If its blue it might be.

Great Dinky collection.
02:24 We had those TV tables the beer steins etc were sitting on. I'd rather have had those than the steins.(LOL)
Just read an article in U.K. national newspaper that old digital cameras are experiencing an 8000% uplift in sales (yes 8 thousand!)

-2 nerd points, Alex, that's not a mace, but a flail
Respect for taking care of those dogs. Glad we are subs to you.
The Indian Motorcycle match box is very cool. I live a few minutes away from Springfield Massachusetts.
Good haul
5:40 watching from Didsbury in the UK nice to see this badge in the Canadian town sharing the shame name
I like your new video intro!!
Verrrrry Interrrresting...!
Hoooogaaan!!!!

Nice variety of things from trucks to bombs, wow. And a wine bottle holder so you can sip some wine while you enjoy it all.
My mother had the little Monk set.
WHAT A BIG SHELL
❤❤❤
The Dinky toy collection is neat, we called all our matchbox cars dinky toys lol, now I know why
The mace is a ww1 german trench mace a brutal weapon
I'm surprised you didn't get the Schwinner! What's up with that 🤔?

Aloha 🌺🥰
Very nice!
Which wax do you use for the signs Alex? Turtle Wax or any wax for vehicles?
ROFL, I have that ROTJ portfolio as well
Is the Star Wars set complete? How many does the box say there should be?
I haven't seen you at a sale for awhile.
You never know with you.
Hi Alex, what did you use to shine up the thermometer? Thanks this was a fun video.
Turtle wax. It's a car polish in the US I believe.
It's a good thing you didn't buy the flail, pretty sure it counts as a prohibited weapon.
In your box of spare tires, I think I saw a boat trailer that goes with a Dinky boat, which I have . Any interest in selling it? Thanks, Stephen
Alexander,
What they all said(see below:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector
I have a similar Germany beer mug/cookie jar with all the cups. How much could I sell it for?
In the comment from @DoroHiro he said instead of a cookie jar, that it was a Rum Topf. During the year various fruit was added to rum in that jar along with some sugar thus preserving it and by the end of the year concoction was then enjoyed. Interesting.
Winged badge is religious…St. Christopher/Catholic.
Stuff is going only worth what someone will pay you
New live podcast soon?
I know you are used to it but all that snow - not for me !😊

Alex hard hats are made of plastic.
Are maces and swords even legal? 🤔

The mace is reproduction also . Germany makes all weapons for the tourists.
Badges? We don't need to see no stinking Badges.

That number plate is not from the uk ..from uk black back ground and erased silver letters🇬🇧🇬🇧
The owner said it was from Portugal.
