Gents, because of your channel and the quality of the content, we recently purchased a set of of VIV 19T's. So far so good, we're still adding miles and breaking them in. Wow, there is a MAJOR difference between these and stock. We are also running an e50 blend on MHD and will be doing a full custom tune very soon. We also have an XHP transmission tune (this is a must) to keep up with the new 19T turbo's. Thank you for sharing all the info you do, it has helped us make some important decisions for our 2007 335i.
The Classic RB turbos were my first set of upgraded turbos which I bought 9 yrs ago. There were issues with some of these but mine lasted 27,000kms without any before I upgraded to the EVOs. Managed a 11.28s run before removal after which I found plenty of side play in the shaft requiring them to be rebuilt. The main issue with China turbos is the quality especially in the balance of the rotating mass.
I just got a pair of viv 19t v3's installed also. Got all the supporting upgrades, will be running on e85 PI hopefully getting up to about 28-30psi. I havent hit the road yet, just waiting on bearings and seals for my LSD to come in beforehand. I'll continue to follow your channel, best of luck with the new snails. I'm personally interested in seeing a side-by-side comparison with the 17t's.
I have the VIV 19t's on my 07 e90 335i. They were leaking at the compressor housing o-ring after only a couple thousand miles. I got the Turbo Labs kit and went through them upgrading all the parts included. The kit has a new o-ring that sealed up the leak and the bearings included were quite a bit more robust with larger contact surface area. There's also an additional oil port with the Turbo Lab's kit. I don't forsee having any problems with them for the foreseeable future. I've got a port injection controller I need to install, along with a Vargas cast valve cover and external pcv setup/catch cans. Then it'll be tuning and to the dyno. 600whp shouldn't be a problem...
Just bought a 335i wagon with pure stage 2 DDs,meth FBO.Fun car.Just high flowing back turbo outlet at momen,which wasnt done.Good on gas,comfortable ride,practicle,real sleeper.Must be equal to 17 ts I think.Enough power for me.😃
I got turbo labs upgraded turbos. ~15T based on what they said on Amazon reviews. They feel great so I suppose I'll just not know what I'm missing going bigger. Lol. I've put 2k miles on them and I have a bit more peace of mind over China turbos for what that's worth.

Great video, thanks! More blades on the turbine wheel makes it more efficient, but does not mean it will spool faster. More blades also mean higher inertia, so it could be possible a turbine wheel with less blades spools up faster. Less blades does indeed result in more flow. Curious to see how much power can be made with the 19T's......

Yup, what he said. Vargas and DAW are just China Turbos with better quality control and looked over. Actually that applies to most other products in life from shoes to electronics, etc. Its not the China uses inferior quality, its the fact they don't thoroughly check the specifications. So for a DAW maybe 1 in every 20 Turbos will fail, but with one purchased right from China maybe 1 out of every 8 turbos will fail becuase they weren't checked properly.

I upgraded my Ford G6Et turbo from the stock 6+6 cast wheel to a 11 blade billet and much prefer the 11 blade billet wheel. Better spool and drivability in my case.
That’s the theory with the 11 blades. I think the China N54 11 blades had so many failures due to improper balancing tolerances. The slightly heavier 11 blade wheel ended being just out of tolerance. The N54 twins have some of the highest rpms turbos on any petrol engine and I guess that’s when lazy balancing will come in to play and I have no doubt the China ones are not being balanced to 220,000rpm.
Biggest problem is the thrust bearing. At higher boost levels, the surface area of the thrust bearing is too small to support the load. That is exactly the issue the guys at turbolab address. A good balancing job never hurts though ;-)
In regards to balancing, with the turbo barra's, the ball bearing turbos spin for around 30 seconds after shut down. With the original cast 6+6 compressor wheel it was a really rough and a rattly spin down. I then changed to the Billet 11 blade compressor wheel with no balance, no nothing except a direct swap. The spin down went quiet and smooth as. I think it says alot about billet vs cast compressor wheels. I got the billet wheel direct from KTS turbo billet in Malaysia and do recommend it as an upgrade for those that like to tinker.PS you do need a proper torque wrench and puller to do this swap properly.

All china turbos are balanced. The question no one can answer is how well are they balanced. Are they being balanced to 25000rpms or the 200000rpms that they will hit at 28psi. The chinese manufacturers know how to make a turbo, the thing that is iffy with the N54 turbos is they are one of the heights spinning turbos on the market. These will spin a lot faster than a single turbo.

@@n54andrew the viv inlets were not re-inforced and under certain load were collapsing causing a massive restriction in the inlet. In turn working the turbos too hard and it melted.
Great Info. What do you think. For a daily N54 535xi (some basic mods - inlets, downpipes, intercooler, charge pipe, MHD stage 2) what turbos to buy: the VIV 17t or the VIV 19t's V3? Not going to push, just would like to be more reliable :)
For a daily, I would get standard “ stage 2” hybrid turbos, 15T compressor wheel. That’ll give you stock-like spool and a nice power bump. But you’ll need a custom tune, MHD OTS maps won’t work properly.
Personally what ever you can get a better deal on. The lag on the 17t and 19t isn’t really noticeable if you know how to drive a turbo car. So if you ain’t pushing for big numbers just try and save some coin.

With meth you don't actually need any e85 at all. I personally run (so do several of my clients) a stage 2 lpfp, 93 fuel, and dual nozzle cp injection, 750 whp no problem (on an auto car) at 28 psi. With that said, 28psi is all she wrote with 750cc meth, i was able to run 31 with 1200cc but it gets rediculously insatiable for meth, so might as well get pi at that point. But for the power level available from the 19Ts,his fuel system has it covered. PI would be needed if he's actually wanting to run e85 anyway, to which i would say why not! The more high octane we have in there the better.
@@igotaction we had to drop to E20 and could only support 25psi on the single 375ml/sec nozzle. The v2 nozzles from Snow have been on backorder for 2.months, but I managed to get some parts on the way to get to 630 on one and 855 across two nozzles in time for rolls on Saturday. 😁🤞

Please stop saying "China turbos" because everything is made in China and most things are actually good quality. "Ebay turbo" is more suitable.
But the ones in question are made in China. They are China turbos that you buy from China. Vtt, daw, pure and rb turbos you don’t buy from China.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I don't understand why they refer VTT as Chinese turbos.
@@thisguyshorty3554 I think its becuase the housings are cast in china. Not sure how much work is done by VTT in the states on each turbo or if they are completely assembled in china
They aren't actually made in China ?
I beliefs the Pure 600’s are also 100% Chinese
Have you guys taken the 19Ts v3 apart to verify if they actually upgraded the seal, spacer and collar. There’s a new video on YT that shows the 19Ts V2 we’re no different than the V1. This leaves me to question if they actually made any changes to the V3 or if they just threw the “v3” to attract buyers
Unfortunately we have not. And you could be on to something
@@ZeroTo60Tube I don't believe I've seen any v3 failures yet, however they are still fairly new to the scene. Just wanted to bring it to your attention, might not be a bad idea to check. Just search BMW N54 19t rebuild and watch the video by Xreedd, it has some pretty good info.
I am part of a 19T group on Facebook. The only adjusted something with the wastegate. Everything else is same as V2.
Correction, apparently they did upgrade some components.
60-120kmph or mph? I was guessing mph but 3.5 is wicked fast
KMH, we use it as a benchmark to judge how fast a car would be at ovetaking.
@@ZeroTo60Tube nice! I did 60-160kmh in aprox 3.5, I am single turbo tho. Not finished on the tunr from JSR
and my bov sounds like yzseesssshhh @0.36+
I freaking hate when people say "Stage #” tune. It means absolutely nothing. Stage one can mean literally anything. Down pipes and intercooler or turbos and cam. If you are going to rattle off a list then just do that, don't pretend this is a video game and say Stage whatever tune.
Sorry, rant over.
I cant deal with the "Stage" shit. Unless someone makes a unified system of what stages are it means nothing. Its like saying Stage Pineapple. I built my car with a Stage Pineapple Fuel pump. Just say 350LPH or something.. No wonder the JDM guys think that euro guys are just carpark queens :P
Not a fan of the silver foxish beard hahaha it ages you man.. makes you look way older than old mate aka your brother hahahaha
I have the same problem btw. Just no brother hahahahahhaaha
