So glad the UA-cam algorithm put this in my suggested feed. Love to hear about any of the Redwall books!

    Hooray for fun reading!
Brian Jacques was a child during ww2 and survived the bombings and hunger of those years. When he would read a story and they would say “they sat down for a meal” he would ‘hungrily’ bemoan the fact that they didn’t tell what they were eating. Hence the reason for his detailed feasts and meals 😂❤
Also, now that you have read Redwall & Mossflower, any order is fine. The only reoccurring character is Martin. They all have the same beats of Good Vs Evil and battles, but often different woodland creatures feature as the main protagonists 🤗

That doesn't surprise me, I'm glad you mentioned it though, it helps to understand why Jacques would be writing that way. It is super funny tho, I hadn't realized outside food, how much he relies on songs, till I was listening to the audio for the first part of this one and the narrator is constantly breaking into song. So creative and fun, surprisingly dense for midgrade writing though.

Thank you. I was off to a couple places but primarily western WA, my relatives are out there and I haven't been back since before 2020.

I've never read the Redwall books, but I wonder if they would work for my son. I may see if I can convince him to listen to the audiobook...

They are brilliant fun, very entertaining and not overly simplistic in the writing to be too childish. I will say I listened to the audio for part of this one, and to me it was a bit of an annoyance there is a difference in volume between the narrator and the dialog (full cast), with the cast audio being quite a bit louder and they are often squealing and screeching. So, I'd say give it a sample if he's sensitive to that.
