I love my G7. I was shopping and wanted to get a new Canon. The sales man at Best Buy had a G7 hanging around his neck. He said check this out. I fell right and love with it. I shot my first wedding with that camera. Love it.
The G7 has been my main camera on my channel for years now. I've tried to "upgrade" to other brands, but I've always gone back to the G7 because I love the video quality, ease of use, and cheap lens availability.
@@moisevisionshow9443 Right out of the box, standard profile, 4k/24. I've messed around with some "recommended" "cinematic" settings for color grading. It's a waste of time for the kind of videos I make.
G7 was my first camera. Gave me a jumpstart in my videography career, now I own s5 and a7siii, but I still keep the g7 with me, it’ll always be special to me. I still remember many UA-camrs using this camera as their bcam and some even acam, it was such a perfect momentum for Panasonic to lead, but some late business decision pushed them back. In today’s Sony first camera system world, many will be surprised to learn how many careers have been kicked off just because they owned cameras like this, gh3&gh4 and canon t2i and learned the art of photography and videography rather than just the camera body.
This was my first camera, my daughter now uses it for photo class. It's exciting how much love you are showing this camera, it truly was ahead of it's time.
I upgraded to the G7 in 2017 after using the Canon T3i for 5+ years beforehand. I loved it, but upgraded to the G9 three years later. I love it, but the G7 will always have a place in my heart.
I ❤ my G7s. I bought them back in ‘19, and I cannot count how many videos and photos I’ve taken over the last 4 years. With a speed booster, I can use my Nikkor glass, which gives me spectacular video and photos with amazing diversity.
The G7 is, in my opinion, one of the best cameras to use the Speedbooster on because the newer cameras (with IBIS) are vulnerable to having the sensor scratched if you drop it because the focal reducer optic protrudes into the lens mount area which makes it closer to the sensor, etc. (but don’t ask me the reason I know it can scratch the camera…I ruined a G85 this way, LOL)
My first Lumix Camera still it. I shot interviews and it is always on the job. I highly recommend this camera for beginners. It will help you lean photography and videography the right way. I have taken thousands of photos and they stand up against my GH5. With the kit lens or any of the Lumix lenses you will get amazing images. Thank you Marcus, it is nice to hear folks talking about a great camera and as I have stayed with the MFT system it has paid off for me.
G7 user here! All of my current videos are done with this awesome lil' thing! I pair it with a Ronin SC gimbal for those stable shots and for the lens I use a Meike 12mm F2.0 ultrawide lens and occasionally use the Panasonic 25mm f1.8. The only thing I do to my footage though is run in through another program to get the 60fps for the 4k, though unfortunately it introduces artifacts. For photography, I'm still learning but this thing is great! After seeing the results you get, it just inspires to keep practicing. Thanks for this and the previous video on the G7!
I have the Lumix G8, and I absolutely LOVE it! I've shot Canon all my life, but when I got the Lumix, I was blown away! Oh! Where did I get the Lumix G8? I won it in one of Markus' giveaways! Thanks again, Markus! It's my first mirrorless camera, and I would never go back to DSLR. It's that good!

Wow, 2015? I would have believed that this camera came out in the last year. And the one in the gun metal color is probably the most stunning looking camera I've ever seen. It's both imposing and alluring in it's design at the same time.
Your video finally convinced me to buy the G7. Thank you very much! I only have it for like a week now, but I love that camera already! And with a super cheap adapter I can still use my ancient lenses with M42 mount on the G7. My father bought them half a century ago... Does it make sense? Probably not. But it sure is a LOT of fun! My G7 came with the 12-60 mm kit lens and sure, the autofocus might not be the best by today's standard, but since I shoot mostly manual anyway I couldn't care less about it. And the autofocus of the G7 is still better than the one of my phone. I'm happy with my G7.

Thank you so much for yet another highly entertaining and informative video Markus ! I find myself laughing out loud and being informed at the same time ! So much sensible infomation packed into a short space. Thank you again! :-) This is the best way to start my day!
Markus, thanks for making + posting this video, which is equal parts interesting + informative + entertaining. I'm a Panasonic user + fan: very high value for dollar proposition. All the best to you and Cara!
Ok so I first saw this video about a month ago, sold me on the g7 I end up buying it & immediately regretted spending the money on Sony wow incredible wish I saw this sooner. Thanks Markus great video
Great video as always. I have 2 Lumix G7s and a few M43 bodies that do have IBIS. This is a very light weight and fun to use camera with great features.
I love my G7! It's my daily carry workhorse camera. It's insanely light weight and as you said, a joy to work with. You got some banger pics of your model - very sweet!
I still have my G7 and I use it with the sigma 56mm f1.4 for portraits and Panasonic 25mm f1.7 for general pics. I have got some great pictures out of it.I have been wondering if I need to upgrade but this video has convinced to wait till I really need to.
Markus I wish you would try out an OM 5 (or its predecessor the em5 iii)…small, light, good AF and many would say great colors. Fits many of the requirements of the great small cameras that you love! Would be great to see your take on it!
@@MarkusPix ….you said that as well about the Sony 6700; roughly same size, but heavier than OM5 (roughly same weight as the 6300 or the g7 ). Must admit, I do like my rx100 Vii the best.
@MarkusPix love how passionate you are about this camera. The G7 is my first and only camera. I still feel just as passionate about it since I started using it in 2017 with a speed booster and sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens. Other than relying on manual focus this camera is a joy. The only time I had trouble with this camera was on safari with a 400mm lens. Without stabilisation it's impossible to take photos on a safari vehicle.
My wife and I were looking at getting a new camera, as all we use now is our cell phones, and I think your video convinced us that this is the one we want. Great video man!
I've been using the Lumix G85 for 2 years now. It's a great camera for video. Thanks for showing those features. Just switched from 4K to 1080 to save storage space. Though the 4K does allow for some great cropping and zooming in editing. Didn't know about the 4:3 aspect ratio for photos, or the 1:1 to make it look like a large format. Thanks for your enthusiasm and helping me see the light with the many possibilities this awesome little camera has. I still like my Nikon D700 for stills, but this Lumix weighs a lot less, has the fully-articulating flip screen, and can shoot video for at least an hour without overheating (more likely the card will be full or the battery will die first).
I was just in Egypt for almost 6 months taking photos and shooting video. I had several action cameras, a Canon 6D (full spectrum) and my trusty Lumix G7 with several lenses.
I discovered it has not just a time-lapse feature, but a stop-motion feature! It should be a no-brainer for engineers to add this in for little work, but it seems a lot of other companies didn't think of this. If you're not determined to get the shallowist depth of field, I recommend it. Also, having an MFT camera makes it easier to find cheap/DIY/quirky lenses; I have a DIY tilt lens, an awesome swirly-bokeh C-mount lens I got for $18, a shift adapter. I love the dials; I only wish there was an ISO dial. I bought mine for something like $200 or $220 through OfferUp, used--and it has 4K and eye-detection! It can do so much of what my Canon R6 can do at a fraction of the price. Don't get me wrong; my R6 is my favorite camera, but for the price, this is a great buy and I might recommend it as a first-time camera for the beginner photographer.
Thank you for the review Markus! I learned so much from you in the last year I've been subscribed. I actually love most Lumix cameras. Filming in 4K was the headline feature for this G7 camera and I had it but returned it because, call me crazy, but I liked the FZ300 bridge a little more when filming in 4K. I did not know why at the time but I believe it's specifically because of the lens giving almost 2 f-stop gain over M4/3 which makes it appear sharper overall. I realize the G7 is technically better and has interchangeable lenses but for 4K filming the FZ300 just looked better to my eye and a very underrated camera as well. Maybe if I had paired the G7 with a better lens? PS Cara always looks amazing no matter what camera you use!
Anything is sharper than that lens. ANYTHING! 😜 Depends what you are shooting. The Lumix 25 1.4 is awesome. For wide, the 14mm 2.5 is good. For portraits, the Olympus 45 1.8 or Sigma 56 1.4 or Olympus 60 macro are great. Pretty much any lens from Olympus is great.
You don't need stabilisation because you mainly do portraits with flash. Not everyone does that. If you do e. g. landscape images during golden hours or blue hour and don't want to bring a tripod, you definitely want IBIS or OIS. If you don't have IBIS and have bring a tripod, you can't really claim that mft is a small. lightweight system. And I say this as a mft user. I'd highly recommend the G85 over the G7.
Yes some situations benefit from IBIS. I leave my G7 on my gimbal and use the G85 most of the time, in preference to my GH5. So I agree G85 is way to go if you can.
The G7 was not my first MFT, that was the E-PL1, and then I got my old friend the G5. I kept that but upgraded to the GH4 and started shooting video. I needed a B-cam. So I got an E-M5ii. It could not shoot movie as a B-cam, it would overheat. So I got the G7, perfect. I rarely shoot 4K, FHD is so much easier to process. I rarely shoot much video now. Maybe a couple of things you missed. The G7 has a pop up flash which is great for a little fill or triggering an off-camera. The G7 has an excellent panorama mode. The G7 was first with DFD and post-focus and Starlight AF (which need DFD). The GH4 only got those as an update. I had had a G6, perfectly horrible, sold it. G7 or E-M5ii? Good question. My pocket carry camera is the tiny E-PL7. G9? Big pro camera, other-worldly stabilisation, It can run and gun, probably bouncy castle too. For wildlife where to do need that stabilisation. A used G7 is pretty cheap because nobody seems to want them but they must be Panasonic's longest running camera, still on new camera catalogue. Still takes good photos and ideal for talking head vlogs.
Yes I love this camera great even taking photos in the night 4k pack of cool features I love it for me it's a work horse I live here in Las Vegas been lake mead few times and went to death valley and the camera resisted with the heat didn't over heat specially recording videos very surprising.i do recommend this camera anyone wants to start a UA-cam channel what ever great for starters.i love the G7 lumix will continue to use now we in 2023 I bought it in 2016 still solid camera 📸 blown away.😉🤟💪
Like always a fantastic review. Thank you for your enthusiasm and inspiring me to purchase today a mint G7 with Kit lens for $350, what is a great price here in Vietnam, where mirrorless cameras are usually quite expensive. I am curious how the G7 will perform with my old Olympus M43 lenses which I bought for my Olympus EP-3, which I like for its "out of the box" vintage look pictures.
Great advice as in many of your videos. Get the most of out of any tiny camera. However you often use lens adapters and lenses that cost 3 x as much as the camera that not everyone has the resources to buy. What is your main video lens of choice. Or top 3. What is your favorite photo lenses of choice or top 3. What is the one most common lens you are likely to use on any of your cameras. For video and for photo specifically. What is your top 3 to use on any camera with any adaptor? Why? If someone had a cheap older camera, what 1 lens would you choose that is affordable other than the kit lens for video and for photography.
Ok I'm not a photographer. I have many wishes of finally doing my own video, but I'm not there yet. I watch your videos because they are entertaining, so well put together from beginning to end, your editing is awesome and the music fits so well with the content. When I'm finally ready I'm have so many ideas of what to do. So thank you Markus and a special thanks to Cara. You look stunning in all your pics. Ahh. Wish I had a model girlfriend like you. I would definitely start calling myself a photographer. hahaha
Markus-awesome review! I was looking for something as more of a DSLR style camera from my current Lumix GX9. These G-7's are pretty inexpensive bought used with low shutter count. If you need stabilization, just use a Lumix stabilized lens.Love your video's-will be checking out your healthy diet and lifestyle videos!
Not the same camera but I’m highly considering sticking with MFT as my workhorse system while my Leica M10 and M10 Monochrom remain my everyday carry and street/documentary photography cameras. I have amazing lenses for it and if I wait and still have hope for a G9 successor then I will definitely stick with MFT as my main system. Once a G9 successor is released I’m gonna sell off my Olympus E-M1 Mark III and my Leica SL typ. 601 and it’s lenses. I’m glad that there are photographers and hobbyists still showing the potential of MFT.
Dang it Markus! I just got over selling my G7 to buy a G9 and you gotta sit there and rub my nose in it😤 But ya, as soon as I had the G9 in my hands, I realized just how small and light the G7 really was.. although the extra features are nice, they don't make it any lighter on hikes..
I still own two, and three GH5's, I won't get rid because they are such good camera's for the price. Great 4K in 24 or 23.967 lol but it its been great.
Have always wondered Mr. Markus since about 2016 if this camera would find a spot in my collection. It still hasn't happen, but after your posting... I'm a lot closer to saying that I'm a user. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Lumix. Had always been one to lean towards SONY until I started watching your channel..
This is just a fun camera for me. Sony is more for serious stuff, I have both Panasonic and Sony, but the Sony stuff is bigger and heavier (except for the RX100vii)
Hey Mark you and your wife were wonderful I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas I haven't been doing too much UA-cam and now but yeah I love show me some good
Was just considering a g9 or Olympus em1 markii myself. Cheap and capable for the price. Birds were the main consideration. Really can't beat the price to features
Great stuff. Love you guys. As always, your enthusiasm is contagious. I'm continually buying photo gear because of you. I am thousands of dollars poorer as I buy two of everything. Its a terrible disease. lol. You can relate.
Hello Marcus! A very cool review, this camera can surprise even today. You are a great photographer, I would like to learn from you. Well done. I've never had such cameras. But dreams still come true, just like yours. Good luck to you and Kara.😊
I have the G7 and its amazing. I have shot a whole documentary film with it with just the kit lens. I always use there recommended ex company lenses withe the camera because they are matched by engineers. So I never play around with that. The documentary is in post production and I will be sharing it soon. Thinking of sending it to the Oscars. I don't know if I am late for this year..One has to see artistically and compose their shots and light them better. Imagine taking a side pic of that model in the bikini (e.g. a bikini advertisement). Do a little Rembrandt lighting to create shadows and add depth, set the correct aperture shutter speed or choose exposure if you're in auto mode and click. One more thing is that the model needs to pose correctly, give them guidelines. Thats it you'll have great images with this or even your cellphone.
I love my old Lumix FZ70. It has a telephoto with focal length at 1200. I use it for astrophotography and can quickly take photos of Jupiter and its 4 Jovian Moons. It has a slightly larger focal length then my Newtonian Reflector Telescope. Payed $50 for it and wouldnt trade it for the world. Saturn is suppose to be easy to find tonight so Ill give it a try
For very easy use, the 12-32 lens which weights only 80 g. makes the perfect match with the G7, I always have this combo in my pocket when I'm out. Street photography, improvised video shootings, landscape pictures...It can do anything on a minimal budget, weight, post-production memory space...
This is the first MFT i bought. I got it for 400 w two lenses. Loved it, but then needed a GH4 feature (being able to record 4k and output 1080p for streaming) so I gave it to my mother in law. i film with 2 GH4's, a GH5 and a GX8, i love all of those but i will admit the G7's lightweight body is missed.

@@MarkusPix ….you said that as well about the Sony 6700; roughly same size, but heavier than OM5 (roughly same weight as the 6300 or the g7 ). Must admit, I do like my rx100 Vii the best.
Cara & You are a huge inspiration ❤ my Girlfriend finally starts working out and taking care of her nutrition and overall health because of Cara & you
@MarkusPix love how passionate you are about this camera.
I love my G7. It is such an amazing camera.
Yes it is
G7 the legend😉📷💪🧡.
Markus your photography is stunning.
Panasonic Lumix are underrated !📷📸
Legendary is the PanaLumix G7 🧡.
Thanks for all Markus🙏.
I suscribe !🤝
Greetings from Reunion Island 🇷🇪🏝️🏖️🌋🌅🌄🦎.
Just bought one for £230 on eBay 🙌 upgrading to my first mirrorless
This is hands down my favorite camera review video EVER 😂😂😂 God I love this guy 😂😂😂
COMO SIEMPRE... MARAVILLOSOS VIDEOS. YO TENGO 2 G7 Y ME ENCANTAN! SALUDOS.
What lens were you using? The 14-42 kit lens? That would explain it. I never use that lens.
@@MarkusPix Hi Markus! Yes the kit lens that came with it. I only film on tripod either what I fix or me talking. What lens would you recommend?
Anything is sharper than that lens. ANYTHING! 😜 Depends what you are shooting. The Lumix 25 1.4 is awesome. For wide, the 14mm 2.5 is good. For portraits, the Olympus 45 1.8 or Sigma 56 1.4 or Olympus 60 macro are great. Pretty much any lens from Olympus is great.
awesome Markus - the g7 is still great😁
You don't need stabilisation because you mainly do portraits with flash.
Wow I love the Palm Springs shoot. Wonderful images!
It's crazy how well they've held their value
Yes I love this camera great even taking photos in the night 4k pack of cool features I love it for me it's a work horse I live here in Las Vegas been lake mead few times and went to death valley and the camera resisted with the heat didn't over heat specially recording videos very surprising.i do recommend this camera anyone wants to start a UA-cam channel what ever great for starters.i love the G7 lumix will continue to use now we in 2023 I bought it in 2016 still solid camera 📸 blown away.😉🤟💪
Hey Vegas neighbor! 👋
This actually looks like a great backup camera, and one to just have in the car with you at all times
Exactly. The perfect universal photo/video tool. With a 12-32 lens it only wieghts 440 g...
It works great with Olympus lenses! My fav for portraits is the 45 1.8 but they're all great
Im from Philippines and i also have this Camera it so Beautiful and i loved it..
I would definitely start calling myself a photographer. hahaha
My first video camera was the g7. I believe I've owned at least four. One silver and three black ones.
Wow Markus you have the most engaging videos and so knowledgeable love your channel.
Keep Digging and the
More You learn about him, the more impressive. The Real Deal 🎥
Thank you Sir for the review. Just received mine. Can't wait to use it.
Your so good in photography man,
The photos in slide are so good.that look like in the magazine
Markus-awesome review! I was looking for something as more of a DSLR style camera from my current Lumix GX9. These G-7's are pretty inexpensive bought used with low shutter count. If you need stabilization, just use a Lumix stabilized lens.Love your video's-will be checking out your healthy diet and lifestyle videos!
This was my first interchangeable lens camera. The autofocus is bunk but it captures some beautiful images.
The G7 is an excellent camera. I used to own one but sold it to upgrade to another camera. I was always very happy with the results.
Thanks for introducing me to this great camera, I’ll get one for my self.
Hi Markus, I can see why this camera attracted you. It does look like photographic jewellery especially on the top plate.
The video that I was looking for, buying one right now
Not the same camera but I’m highly considering sticking with MFT as my workhorse system while my Leica M10 and M10 Monochrom remain my everyday carry and street/documentary photography cameras.
This video gave me the confidence to click buy now on the G7
Dang it Markus! I just got over selling my G7 to buy a G9 and you gotta sit there and rub my nose in it😤
But ya, as soon as I had the G9 in my hands, I realized just how small and light the G7 really was.. although the extra features are nice, they don't make it any lighter on hikes..
I still own two, and three GH5's, I won't get rid because they are such good camera's for the price. Great 4K in 24 or 23.967 lol but it its been great.
If you decide to get rid of that heavy EM-1, just let me know! LOL! 😆 Love the channel!
Cool. I have a Samsung that came out around the same time…a lot of camera innovation in those years!
I'm disappointed by the G9, I had the G85 before that I really liked a lot!
E m1 ii is awesome!
I had it and sold it for the 6400 and I miss it for the size and the enjoyment. Currently a Fujishooter
I also have this one. Great camera.
Nice 👍
I'm looking to buy my first mirrorless camera and I'm considering getting one of these. It seems they are still in production.
Those photos came out really good. You should do more shoots with natural light.
I appreciate all your videos dude
Thank you ☺
The G7 was my first real camera. I still have it but I have upgraded to the G 85 and then the G9 and I’m hoping the G9 mark two will come out soon.
I had a blast with an EM10. Was very surprised to hear you say the G7 was lighter, especially seeing the size difference.
The EM10 is a magnesium body, the G7 is pure plastic. Markus loves the light weight, i like the "built like a brick" feeling of my Oly's and my G9.
Love your videos! Markus, will you please give us your take on IRE and how you set exposure? I'm looking for the fastest way to nail my exposure.
Excelent photos!!
Love you're enthusiasm!
I love cameras! But I can only afford to have one at a time right now.
Man you are so right ! I think someone should create an international G7 fan club ! We are millions :-) All the best :-)
For very easy use, the 12-32 lens which weights only 80 g. makes the perfect match with the G7, I always have this combo in my pocket when I'm out. Street photography, improvised video shootings, landscape pictures...It can do anything on a minimal budget, weight, post-production memory space...
Thank you for sharing Markus
Love the G7 and the G9!
