    I know this video is like 4 years old - but for anyone watching this, please be a LOT more careful with the grease than this guy. You really don't want that anywhere near the pad surface, and you want to ensure it's not on the side of the friction material either. As the pad wears, even getting just a little bit of that grease on the brake surface will greatly impact your braking ability.

    Very awesome, detailed instructional video. Only thing I find issue with is removing fully functional ebrakes without finding a viable solution and running a second pair of calipers that aren't even functional. Imo, that just takes away from the credibility of an otherwise awesome video.

    • @JonnyBarajas
      @JonnyBarajas  7 років тому

      Don't have the time or the money to continue any further with the brake system. It would also be a pain removing the lines for the ebrake later than when the system is fully accessible.

    nice vid,you could/should upgrade your lug studs get a longer one instead of buying or using spacers. which sometimes arent that safe,but it depends. someitmes its usefull tho, please get longer lug studs

    • @JonnyBarajas
      @JonnyBarajas  7 років тому +1

      I run conversion adapters that don't decrease or increase lug stud length from stock. I've been using them for 2 years since I got the Frs and haven't ran to any issues yet. They make it possible to run the custom wheels and line up my wheels with the rocket bunny.

    Is it necessary to do dual rear calipers or would it be ok to just do rotor and brake line

  • @ComputerGeekOnTwoWheels
    @ComputerGeekOnTwoWheels 6 років тому

    Wait wait, woooo...How did you connect the second brake caliper to the system? Did I miss something? Did you use a y-connector to feed a brake line to the second rear caliper? How does it work for parking your car? Oh, you answered it below. So what is the advantage of having a second rear caliper besides removing the old style drum brake?

    just a heads up... a forum member on FT86club.com found that the evoX rears fit (almost) perfectly and he did all of the math in regards to finding a rear upgrade that will compliment this exact front upgrade, so as to keep the stock front/rear brake bias, and not have it change, upset the brake balance of the 86....

    • @thegroundhurts
      @thegroundhurts 6 років тому

      So after doing the CTSV caliper kit and then doing the evoX calipers to correct the brake bias you are still close to the cost of doing a proper front BBK. With a proper front BBK you don't need to upgrade the rears at all(except pads) and you are getting a proper 2 piece rotor as well.

    I got a quick question for wheel clearance.
    do the caliper will fit on stock rims? 17" for sure?
    my current wheel is 17" 35mm offset.

    Right, you've removed the mechanical parking brake and fitted a second set of hydraulic calipers, which are not connected to anything yet...?!
    Do you have Hills in Arizona?!! How do you stop your car rolling away when parked? Relying on the drive train to hold the car is not wise, especially as you mentioned cracked drive shafts in your previous video!!!
    It's clear you have produced a well thought out instructional video, but it's a shame that you haven't applied the same amount of thought to what you are actually doing to the car...!!
    If you're modifying the brakes get all the parts to complete the work, don't stop half way through because it's expensive!

    What size wheels do you need to clear these?

      17 inch wheels will clear these, only issue will be back spacing. Its best to run bbk compatible wheels or run a spacer if your wheel face doesn't clear the calipers.

    Will this fit the IS300?

    • @JonnyBarajas
      @JonnyBarajas  7 років тому

      This won't fit on the IS300. The bracket is what makes it possible.

      I have seen people with IS300s swap in brakes from an LS400, which isn't a brembo, but it's definitely a cheap big brake kit you could look into for your IS.

    3:40 how come you grinded down your socket?

    • @439530
      @439530 3 роки тому

      Sometimes mechanics grind it down for better clearance. It doesn’t mean you need a thinner socket for this install.

    Hey Do you know what specific rotors we’d use if we switched out bolt patter from 5x100 to 5x114?

  • @AndrewRodriguez-nl2rp

    Can you use the same rotors as the fronts for the rears or do they have specific rotors for the rear.
