      ​@@HPSupportOh, no no I was speaking generally, not personally. Puncturing, twisting and damaging li-ion batteries in general and the resulting short usually can cause a rather explosive reaction including a rapid persistent fire. It merely amused me that this reaction was dubbed a "Thermal event" something I'd more equate to a midsummer's day in Arizona than a battery's deflagration. Good humored ribbing I assure you.

      @@zoe4965 I use it every single day I literally just got off of it from playing video games for hours on... It doesn't get hot as long as it is ventilated and it runs phenomenally. I highly suggest it and honestly I would totally buy another one just because it is so sturdy and reliable.. I use it for intense video games and it runs amazing I can do all my work from it and school work from it and it runs amazing

    Hello hopefully you can help me. I just received my laptop from a repair shop and it was working fine.but now I keep getting an error “the selected boot device failed” so I ran a diagnostic and it says “dst failed” anyway I can fix this ?

    When receiving this laptop, I plan to switch out the HDD with a Samsung Evo 860 SSD, is there anything in particular that I'd have to look out for? seems like an easy enough process for me to handle, but how would the laptop recognize the new drive? Also, is it completely necessary to remove the battery before implementing the new SSD?

    good video, I have the same computer with the touchpad problem which works well in the UEFI BIOS but in windows it does not work, it is not detected by the operating system, some help, what is the model of the touchpad module or chip to find more info and solve this problem (I am a technician) the hardware administrator is OK, nothing with error or exclamation. Windows 10 version 21H1

    I bought this one month ago and I can distinction gear a weird buzzing suond coming from the system board, especially when plugged to the charger and when doing more complex tasks.
    Is it something to worry about? Should I send it to assistance even if it gives no other issues?

      1) Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the Esc key to enter the Startup Menu.
      2) Now press the F2 key to access HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu.
      3) On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
      4) Click Extensive Test.
      5) Click Run once to initiate the test.
      Note: It will take few hours to complete the test.
      Let me know the results!

      Maybe I'm a bit too late, but it doesn't void the warranty. You just have to make sure that if you have a problem with your computer, first remove the SSD you removed and put the original HDD. If it didn't had any and it came with a m.2 ssd, then you just remove the SSD from the HDD/SSD slot and your good to go

    So how long should I expect HP to take to send a replacement panel to Microcenter for a 15-ec2021nr with the manufacturer defect? Only had the laptop a couple months and while watching a video.... the screen goes black and shoots vertical lines.... Microcenter was quick to call it "the manufacture defect" so it was painfully apparent this is a common issue. My son really needs his computer for school. Shame we have to wait for HP to respond. They should have a stack of these panels in stock in each authorized repair center ready to go for WHEN they fail. Because at this point its evident they will ALL fail eventually and need replaced with the new panel.

    Two of the screws are stuck. I can’t remove them to get to the battery. Should I just let the power drain on its own? I’m having the issue where the power light turned on but nothing else turned on. This happened after a forced shutdown and is the only time this problem has happened.

    Hey, I’ve had my laptop for over a year and now all of a sudden it’s staying stuck on the HP loading screen. I’ve done EVERYTHING in the reboot menu and tried all methods in the troubleshoot but nothing is happening I tried the reboot repair but as soon as it’s done it’ll say that it failed.

    So my sons laptop (this model) has what I’m assuming a bad charging port. (Haven’t had time to open it ina year) there’s no hard drive where it should be. Just a cover but it’s never been opened before and worked just fine prior to the charging port going out. I have never been so confused

    My gpu is not being detected in my system at all. I’ve already gone through device management and looked for adapters, it doesn’t appear, I’ve tried all the commands. It literally is not appearing and the nvidia control panel app doesn’t even open, tells me I need a GPU. Where is the GPU and how do I take it out and replace it?

    Is it possible to install a SSD rather than an HDD? I really liked the video, but that’s the only question I have. I want to install an SSD because they’re faster and have a less chance of breaking over time.

      @@HPSupport i added a 1tb ssd as a dual storage, but in the list u mentioned, it is not supported (i actually had problems with my laptop after adding this ssd like bsod and errors about boot device not found) so do u think it is better to take that off?

    Hello, I have not found any information on the HP website regarding the replacement of RAM with this gaming laptop. There is even nothing about the motherboard.
    1. I need to know: what are the lowest DRAM's timings supported?
    2. And another question: why does a laptop have two DRAMs in total at 51,200 MB/s (25,600 MB/s for each), if the motherboard memory bus bandwidth only supports 46,770 MB/s? Why they suppost to exceed the bandwidth of the motherboard (I just want to understand on the basis of this which RAM to choose)?
    3. And thirdly, why are both DRAMs at 3,200 MHz frequency, when the processor supports a maximum of 2,933 MHz (according to the Intel Core i5-10300H specification)? Of course, I understand that this is only an effective value, but besides, over-bandwidth is completely confusing. I can't understand why RAM still works even with such exceeded indicators.
    It would be very good if such an article did exist, maybe I was looking for it badly.

      P.S.: Strange, the manual "Maintenance and Service Guide" says that only 16 GB (8x2) is supported. I just noticed. And I realized that 3,200 MHz by downgrade become these 2,933 MHz.
      1. That is, this motherboard does not support RAM more than 16 gigabytes?
      2. Nevertheless, not a word has been said there about the timings (CL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS and etc). Is it possible to get information about this somewhere (because as I said above, I did not find any information about the motherboard on the HP website)?

    Hello @hpsupport. My 16-a0063nq got spilled with liquid on its right side while open. I immediately closed it and wiped it dry. It seems to work fine including all ports in that area except the right usb A port does not work anymore with 2.0 usb devices, only 3.0 usb devices seem to work. When I plug any usb 2 device it says that "the usb device has malfunctioned". Its likely the liquid problem and the pins seem intact, but:
    1. could it be software?
    2. would a disassemble and thorough cleaning help?
    3. from the above clip it does not seem that in that area are any user replaceable part for usb port so can some parts be replaced in a proper service?

      +Dylan Estrada It is not normal. Let's do a battery test to isolate the issue:
      1) Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the Esc key to enter the Startup Menu.
      2) Now press the F2 key to access HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu.
      3) Go to Component Tests, then click on Battery Test.
      4) Click on run once to initiate the test.
      Let me know the results!

    I got this laptop not even 6 months ago and it has had no issues, then suddenly now it refuses to turn on. When plugged into the power cord the power light and charging port light blink continually, with nothing cycling on inside the computer. I have tried out the procedures listed in the webpage, but however the pointer of my wireless mouse keeps dragging on the screen and its not sharp and active, I tried the mouse on another laptop, I did not experience the dragging of the pointer it was very smooth and sharp, could it be a hardware problem like the Bluetooth module, how do I fix this please?

    Hello, i just changed the thermal paste (for high performance) and when i turn it on, GPU usage its 0% no matters what i do, i already install new driver version and try to run a game, but i get a Really bad performance, i checked with a GPU stats program and its working good, but not really 😢
    I also torn the silver tape, is that maybe causing my issue?

    Do you know anything about this everytime I turn on my laptop it always says "you need to restart you laptop for an update" And I restart it and then keep using and then another pops up just wanting to know if it's actually a update or a virus it's from HP support the alert that I get
