I never get tired of this game. My 1st beat em up game love here! Bowling Alley introduced me to this game back in the late 80s/early 90s. You see the visuals!!!! You hear that music!!!! Forever Epic!
@@PlasticCogLiquid i took the slow down as if the game was treating me fairly. Because when there was too many enemies on screen ganging up on me making it difficult the slow down was very helpful.
@@PlasticCogLiquid The slowdown is due to Double Dragon being an 8-bit game, despite looking like a 16-bit one. Other game companies had gone 16-bit by the late 80’s, but Technos couldn’t afford to use the more powerful and more expensive 16-bit CPUs at the time.
@@PlasticCogLiquid Well one big problem is that the slowdown is far worse in Mame than it is on a real PCB, which makes the game only barely playable. Same is the case with the sequel, but can at least overclock the games in order to fix this very annoying issue though.
One of my favourite arcade titles, oh man it brings really good memories of my childhood. Great content and awesome channel. Let’s keep the retro alive my friend, even though we play modern games. Arcade is unforgettable. Have a good time
after years of playing as a kid, 3 in fact, On one day, I beat it on ONE quarter. I count this as one of my best ever achievements in video games. This was the one game I was amazing at when I was ok at everything else. No one can take that from me and my lil brother that day watching me. I'll admit, the ending caught me off guard when Abobo threw u into the rafters and you beat the machine gun guy up there. WOW, didn't know that was possible. Blew me away and I laughed my ass off for real. Neat trick.
If you're playing this on MAME and want the slowdown to go away just go into the slider settings and look for "Overclock CPU maincpu." Overclock it to roughly 180+%. Going too high might crash the game so experiment. I'm still using MAME64 but I do remember doing it in other versions.
@@shoutingmuteness3902 Thank you. As a kid in the 80's you don't notice things like this too much. All of it is new. As an adult though, and trying to play, I noticed it enough to make me not want to play. I knew one of the major problems with the arcade cabinet is that they were using a slow processor. Fooled around with some settings and figured it out. On some forums it seems a few others have figured out the hack too. I figure most don't know so I might as well pass on the knowledge. Enjoy Double Dragon at a very playable speed.
How come I remember the ending of both Double Dragons differently… wasn’t the bad guy your brother in the first one or something and didn’t the girl like stab you … it’s been forever so forgive me
I mean, it's probably one of the only ways to get through the game without credits. Especially if you want to get to the end without dying, even if it takes the fun out of the game.

People bitch about the slowdown, I like it. It's part of the feel of the game

My brother and I beat this arcade in the marina at lake berryessa when I was 7 or 8 circa 88/89 probably cost my dad 40 bucks lol. Good times
@Travis The Maximus it's not the 80's anymore lol emulators are the way to go.
Ah, but which one of you won the final fight?
@@hardcorexbl if my little brother would've won I wouldn't bring up double dragon..ever lol
This is a classic which will never get old! I still play this to this day… amazing game, perfectly balanced as well.
It always killed me that they hit ole girl right in the coochie. “Niggas was ruthless in the 80s!”🤣🤣
That cat is huge.
Double Dragon was a must have in the day. All of them! We use to beat one another up too. Lol
"For Right!"
"For Might"
"WE ARE DOUBLE DRAGONS!"

Cool.
The elbow smash is the most effective move....it's worth cool 180 points for each hit.
this is my first arcade game wich only 1 coin i finish with :)
BELLOS TIEMPOS
Same move over and over, so boring.
