Thanks, I've been wondering how to remove the pulley w/out damage. Does the pulley go back on by tightening the nut downward along the bolt over the split collar?
Did you pull and replace the rack & pinion axle? My 1989 244 VOLVO has had the steering mech. replaced & the rack axle replaced 4 times since I moved from Berkeley, CA to Calaveras County, climate is extreme + country roads asphalt on CA Hi 49 still needs work...what do you advise?😢
I recommend a steering rack shop that will warrantee their work. I’ve had my 240 steering rack rebuilt about 3 times all under warranty at the shop I go to here in Phoenix. Unfortunately with these old racks they will never be perfect.

Yup it’s a 1973 1800Es. I picked it up about a year ago. You can’t beat the look of that wagon.
