Logic Pro is a DAW, pro tools is also a Daw. Until this year the only sound card for pro tools was Digi Design, the mark that today is knowed as Avid. Now Pro Tools 10 can be runed with any soundcard
Yeah, a lot of sample drum packs are already compressed, he's smart not to overcompress what doesn't need it any more. Hey the drums are funky sounding, i like it. I never heard of this guy but I'm going to check out his music now :)
No they're from Loopmaster's 'Minimal Underground Techno Vol.1' package! Press pauze at 3:21 there you can see the bank he's using --> 'MUT' and Marc Adamo's part is from vol.1 :)
Awesome, thanks for the info! I was originally going to buy KRK's but after seeing these everywhere I was on the fence. I think I'll stick to my original plan now though
I love the look on his face at 13:20 lol! The guy knows he is amazing right there haha. Seems like a humble guy though, not full of himself, just a down to earth dude who has an incredible talent.
In FL studio you create patterns in a sequencer. Each midi track is a pattern, each audio track can be a pattern. It's effectively a loop, but in Fl studio you can only see one at once. Also you have to remember the number of the pattern. It is fine up to about 20 patterns, but then it starts getting fiddly... Its pretty difficult to explain in words... Ableton has a much more logical setup (for me). I use ableton for production work, then render each individual track to a wav, and mix in logic.
@daddelpaj It has already been compressed, he uses samples like everybody else. Compressing it even more (already been compressed if its "sampled") just makes it loose lowend.
Producer > DAW. All the major daws can do generally the same thing in terms of production, but each has a different workflow. I suggest trying out the demos of them to really get a feel for their workflow and how it translates to your production. I use fl studio 10, and would definitely recommend it to anyone. In the end it's your choice, so just watch some youtube videos, download the demos, and have a look around to see what you like the most. PM me if you have any further questions :)
@IModIfyI your best bet is to subscribe to Future Music, you will get loads of advice on gear, technique and production from industry professionals : )
Wow, the advertisement video loaded up in a snap with high quality. The video I want to watch on the other hand... Oh wait, was I wanting to watch a video. Nah, I guess not. Thanks for making that choice for me UA-cam ;).
@DenemChikn You make some good points, but I guess my main reasoning is that making music isn't an exact science and Thomas Gold makes awesome music, so I think 'improving on his sound' is more-or-less a moot point.
@DenemChikn I think by 'sound better,' you mean would 'suit your ideology of what a professional producer should be doing.' There's no orthodox way to being a great producer, so if he makes good music he makes good music. The reason producers use samples are because they sound good.
@IModIfyI yeah fro like 30 to 40 bucks you can subscribe to future music. for me what i've been doing is reading books on it there's a whole lot of stuff on like amazon if you just search like drum programming or music production they'll give you a shit ton of results.
