Venus and Mars are really good, but the mysterious and foreboding theme of Jupiter Lighthouse...gives me chills every time. Also reminds me of how long I spent wandering around in that place my first time through the game.
On another note I like how the elements encompass the 8 kids you play as; With Mia, Felix, and Peir they represent the cool and calming of water along with it different forms(solid, liquid, and gas) Felix and Isaac are both quiet in there respective titles and stand a strong solid leaders unchanging in there convictions. Sheba and Ivan are arguably the most mysterious and charming of the kids. You don't know next to nothing about each of their pasts but the continue on like the wind that blows in all directions. and finally Garet and Jenna hot boiled, passionate red heads that shine as bright as magma deep underneath the core of the very earth. They may be a little rash at times but the warmth they give off is always soothing.
Damn this makes so much sense now! It also explains why Mercury stands out to the other lighthouses, it’s not only Mia, but also Alex!! And Alex was in the Lighthouse too!! That’s why the soundtrack clashes so much, you get Mia calmness but worry, while also Alex and his plan on it! It makes so much sense!

Ivan being sent away from his home in Contigo with Hammet with the Shaman Rod, told of a great destiny he has and goes most of his life not really knowing where he's from or who his family is either. I also always felt bad for Ivan too. In Golden Sun we hear repeatedly about a great destiny he has before him, and how his destiny is tied to the Shaman Rod, only for the Shaman rod to be taken from him at the end of the game and its true purpose completed not by Ivan, but by Felix and his companions. The Rod was supposed to be traded for the Hover Jade that was being kept by Shaman Village only to be traded with someone from Contigo to replay a great event from the past that brought peace to the two regions. Initially Felix is refused because none of them are from Contigo, which is why it makes sense that this duty was intended for Ivan.
The silent Felix completely blew that game! They took the only character I cared for, gave him a cooler design and BAM! They completely ruined his characterization! In my fanfiction Dark Sun Golden Eclipse Felix becomes a silent criminal (not a silent protagonsit as the protagonsit is a talking cyborg detective named Katsuya) named Man With No Name who, after unmasking himself, starts talking, and what's the first sentence he says? "I'M NOT AN AVATAR OF ANY PLAYER! FUCK THIS SHITTY SILENT PROTAGONIST TRADITION! I'M FELIX, AND I'M MY OWN CHARACTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'd like to think the Elemental Stars theme, which plays in Mercury lighthouse after all the events have occurred, is the actual music for it, because it sounds so calm, pure and "holy", as the water element should be.
Venus will always be my favourite. It has the real feeling of epicness and power which I associate with the way the lighthouse plays out... Also being the final dungeon of the first game just makes it all fit better. Mars is cool too, and has the final dungeon vibe, but as more of a desperate race against time. Jupiter I really like, it's the only one that reflects on the idea that the lighthouses are supposed to be ancient. Mercury is weird, but it's during the chase... Venus>Jupiter>Mars>Merc.
I dont know what all the hate for Mercury is for, its not my favorite but it has such a classic tune to it. If I were to rank them all it'd be: 1. Venus 1. Jupiter 1. Mars 1. Mercury
From the first moment Alex appeared in the game I knew he was going to be the biggest asshole to ever exist but holy crap, man. He's so good at being an asshole I can't help but love him.
interesting that the lighthouse themes reflect what was going on at the time. Mercury was a sense of rushing, Venus was climbing to the top, facing the tasks, Mars also seemed like a hard climb, but it was also urging you to be quick. I feel like Jupiter was how all the lighthouses would have been if they weren't in a rush. I also feel Mercury was too...small? I dunno. I'd have liked to revisit it
The Venus and Mars Lighthouse themes sound the most epic in my opinion and they let you know that you're at the end and some shit is going to go down. The Mercury Lighthouse theme is very catchy but they made it seem generic by adding it into different places in the games (Suhalla Gate, Venus Lighthouse part 1). The Jupiter theme doesn't do much for me.
The game wasn't known by many people which sucks... but the graphics of this game is amazing for just a gba game back in the day... and how it has very different yet unique music for every place in all of weyward... and how it was split into 2 halves because of how long the storyline was. The third game, the DS game... it's ok... it's not as great as the gba originals... but it's not bad. The storyline of the GSDD is neat, but it doesn't have the same excitement as the first 2 GS games.
I find it the biggest mixed bag I've ever seen: the characters are dull and generic and I absolutely despise the silent protagonist trope and I despise even more the fact that Felix, the only character I liked in this game and the very reason why I decided to play it, became silent when he desperately needed character development. The story also carries out a good concept (the villins are, in fact, good, and they're exactly on your level), but the execution wasn't the best because you barely see the villains. However I can praise the music, the Djinni system and the Psynergy puzzles and I have to admit: they're absolutely fantastic!

ya, i said IF psyenergy power had no limits, they'd be worth using. on the summon thing, i hadnt thought about that (in that case though they would have to raise the monsters hp and attack in order to make the game a challenge). my current team (about to beat the game) is isaac - master, Jenna - Ronin with tisiphone edge, Ivan - Pure Mage Tisiphone edge and Felix Master. all near lvl 60, best gear possible. with jenna boosting attack, isaac can deal about 1.5k dmg with a normal attack :D
I also find that Mar's is to be the best one. I agree. To me, it sounds like time is at it's end for That town near the Mars Lighthouse. That entire town is at it's last final breath to surviving... In a certain spot of the song, where there's a fast pace is playing, I'm imagining that everyone has a goal of their own they want to achieve. And they all lead to one final area of saving the world. They all run towards that beacon. They all want to save that small town not for themselves...
Mercury's theme is my favourite. It isn't generic at all, it uses a lot of aug chords and the Lydian mode which is pretty dang uncommon. It is meant to be unsettling and unpredictable in the way it goes, which may be why many people don't like it. You want to talk generic, how about everyone's top track Venus? It has lots of minor chords in a major key, with an arpeggio countermelody, and epic chorus. Even the second section is exactly predictable in its timing and where it goes. It is probably the most standard of the chord progressions, which is why it is so satisfying to hear, but it is not exactly breaking new ground.

but for the sake of their survival. They wanted to save them I believe because they wanted to. Mercury Lighthouse brings me - Confusion on where to go. It was almost like a maze to them for the first time. ANd they are all trying to get used to the situation of getting used to each others trust. And their confusion on what Lightning th beacon was all about. And Alex joining them on the "bad side" was shocking to Mia as well. All Three of them were destined to save the world.

i think they should've did what Silent Hill 3 did.. after you beat the game on hard mode, theres another 10 difficulty levels you get to go through, called "Extreme 1-10" in which you have less health, less stamina, do less damage etc., and its the excact opposite for the monsters. lets just say that its near impossible to kill the god boss on ED (Extreme Difficulty) 2 since you get killed in like 2 hits. i dont even wanna fucking imagine with ED 10 is like. Dullahan on ED 10... ಠ_ಠ
True! It´s the only lighthouse which has something between a legend and a religion based on it if you think about the wings for the boat... Mercury´s got the healing water but thats just a legend, mars and venus got nothing on them. In that aspect Jupiter is the most epic
Agatio es el mas fuerte de los 4, lo comprobé experimentando con mis golden suns. Agatio tiene ataques especiales que nadie mas tiene y hacen mucho daño, incluso a nivel 99. (battle arena). Menardi sigue siendo mas fuerte que Krast eso si, Saturos es el segundo mas fuerte por ser principalmente ofensivo.
Gotta have this in mind... What would have happened if instead of two, there were 4 Mars Adepts on GS 1?... I Mean... Saturos, Menardi, Karst and Agatio.... togheter... They would have succeded from the very beggining with that much firepower
Isaac was more level-headed that Garret and both Ivan & Mia were sheltered. Felix was trained by the people of Prox, he had the most experience of any of the heroes. Jenna and Piers had some by that point and Sheeba was frail. Mathew was Isaac's son but even then Karis was essentially the lead. She was the smart one, always having a plan for where to go and was with him from the beginning. Compared to Tyrell who was worse than Garret was at first and the other 5 were all pre-occupied and only joined to learn more after their situations were largely resolved. I feel like the Mercury Adapts are most charismatic

i think they should've did what Silent Hill 3 did.. after you beat the game on hard mode, theres another 10 difficulty levels you get to go through, called "Extreme 1-10" in which you have less health, less stamina, do less damage etc., and its the excact opposite for the monsters.
lets just say that its near impossible to kill the god boss on ED (Extreme Difficulty) 2 since you get killed in like 2 hits. i dont even wanna fucking imagine with ED 10 is like. Dullahan on ED 10... ಠ_ಠ
True! It´s the only lighthouse which has something between a legend and a religion based on it if you think about the wings for the boat... Mercury´s got the healing water but thats just a legend, mars and venus got nothing on them. In that aspect Jupiter is the most epic

Agatio es el mas fuerte de los 4, lo comprobé experimentando con mis golden suns. Agatio tiene ataques especiales que nadie mas tiene y hacen mucho daño, incluso a nivel 99. (battle arena). Menardi sigue siendo mas fuerte que Krast eso si, Saturos es el segundo mas fuerte por ser principalmente ofensivo.

The reason there weren't is because Karst & Agatio flat out weren't as strong
Mercury was actually one of the most awesome lighthouses, if it weren't for the power of mercury we wouldn't had been able to defeat Saturos.

Mercury desperately needs a remix, Venus is epic enough. Jupiter is just so creepy because it takes ages to reach it. Mars is just serious business
the only problem with goldensun is the fact that they caped the elemental power at 200, if only we could go further psynergy would be devastating.

Felix was trained by the people of Prox, he had the most experience of any of the heroes. Jenna and Piers had some by that point and Sheeba was frail.
Mathew was Isaac's son but even then Karis was essentially the lead. She was the smart one, always having a plan for where to go and was with him from the beginning. Compared to Tyrell who was worse than Garret was at first and the other 5 were all pre-occupied and only joined to learn more after their situations were largely resolved. I feel like the Mercury Adapts are most charismatic
