And they do come also heads only! How good is that? You can do fitting with ”similar” heads at your near clubsmith and figure out the best shaft to order!
I love the way you guys acknowledge and in effect, support, the smaller companies by taking a good long look at their products. This is a very nice looking club.
Great review guys! I felt like Ian was talking to me. I'm 35 and hasn't golfed since HS. Unfortunately just became a widower and my friends have been taking me golfing as therapy. I LOVE it. I made a set out of clubs they let me poach out of the lost and found until I can get back on my feet and buy my own set. I think these just shot to the top of my list. You guys are the best. Thanks for keeping my mind occupied.
I first want to say I watch all of your videos and find them some of the best on the internet. Based on your review of these clubs, I decided to give these a try. I'm a 7 handicap and have been playing the Mizuno MP20 mmc irons for about 1 1/2 years. I play about 250-260 rounds per year and change my clubs frequently. Just took these into the simulator at my club and OMG are they unbelievable. Not the softest but a great feel, accuracy and wow the distance. Good spin and the launch is perfect. I would recommend these to anyone wanting new clubs that doesn't want to take out a small mortgage for a quality set of irons. Keep up the good work Matt and Ian.
I have a set ordered and I’m so glad to finally see a review of these with launch monitor numbers. This is the first video I’ve seen of these with any kind of detailed review. Thanks guys!
was able to put an order in about 20 minutes ago.. 3 up and an inch longer.. any feedback from you two now that you've had them for a while? I gotta wait till December to get these, but I can't wait!
ordered the 101s in part because of this video (and others)...you guys described me perfectly, getting back into the game after about 15 years away...i used to custom fit about 20 years ago but got refit for Pings with the new fitting technology...saw this and took my fitting to this company for about $500 less...they took awhile to get here and we're snowed in but they look great and i can't wait for spring!!
Hopefully companies like Takomo find success. It’s good to know that there are very well made clubs at a less expensive option is available for the casual golfer. Keep the content coming guys. And as always , great review.
My dad turns 70 next year, avid golfer, with a set of X20s I believe that got hundreds, if not thousands of rounds in them. As a long time fan, I watch all the content, and this is the first time I’ve thought about equipment for my dad. Would have been a great gift! Thanks for all you do for growing the game and knowledge level.
Totally agree! A TXG product comparison between DTC ‘niche’ manufacturers and the branded products would be ideal for amateur golfers to get their thinking and budget around. Food for thought guys?
I know this is old content, but you guys nailed it. I grew up in a similar time, hitting 'Great Big Bertha' woods when I was in college and have made my way back to golf and are ready to 're-build a bag' without spending a fortune while I try and figure out how to swing a club again. There's no way I'll notice the difference between these and a $1,300 set of irons, so it makes a great choice.
Looks like a nice set of Irons and respect to TXG for supporting this new company with a non-patronising honest review. It's not the usual TXG Competition Prize (Private Jet and a night with Paige S etc etc) but hey I could do with a new set of toys!
Great review guys! Ian as usually just hits the cleanest strikes, the sound is wonderful and so smooth. Keep them going boys, good to see you two making the content :) Jeremy
I have picked these clubs up and I am absolutely loving them! I did get fitted and made a few changes in the clubs: I had the lie changed -1, weakened the lofts -2 degrees and put Aerotech I95 R shafts. (Yes I spent a little extra on the shafts) but I am not disappointed. For full disclosure I have been working on correcting swing problems. I was steep previously with my previous clubs. I have corrected that. I am a 15 handicap going into this season. these clubs are LONG!! my old 7 iron was 155ish carry full swing. With this set up my full swing is sending the ball 185 yards on the carry and 200 with roll.Medium tempo 170-175 yards carry. My 5 iron is 190 carry, 9 iron is 150-155, Pitching wedge 140. Very forgiving as well. I know this is indoor golf ( in Wisconsin) I actually hit a 70 for 1 under in a simulator. my best last year was a 83. I love these clubs so much I picked up their wedges as well. Soft and long as well.
Really a great review! It inspired me to give these irons a try. I decided to just order the heads last November and to my surprise they arrived 9 days later. I paired them with MC MMT 80 stiff shaft. The swing weight was a little heavy when I got to try them out and I didn’t like the ball flight. I got back with my fitter and we did some tweaking. Changed the swing weight to a D2 and changed the lie to 2 deg. Flat. The difference was amazing ! The feel is excellent, not quite forged but not far off. Higher and about 8 yards longer than my previous irons which are only 1 deg. Weaker in loft. Spin is still very good for their lofts. Last but not least workability. I find it quite easy to work the ball left or right very much like a players iron. Flighting was a different story, knock down shot is not so easy. The Ball really wants to fly , not balloon but not low and penetrating. Overall I’m very happy with the result. Thanks Guys Bill from Arizona
I am currently awaiting my new set of 101 irons, custom specs and left handed. I've had Takomo on my radar for the better part of 1 1/2 years and saw and read enough reviews to be a confident buyer. As a lefty who lives in a major city and still can't walk into a golf store and physically put hands on more than two or three sets of lefty irons(drivers selection not muchbetter)let alone hit them before buying these direct to consumer companies and their price points are a godsend! I simply will not order 1500-2000 irons without trying them...but I will take a shot at highly rated Takomo for 500.00! Top mfg.'s take note!!!
I went ahead and purchased a set of these to give them a chance after watching your video. Should be receiving them within a week. Thank you for the review and share!
Nice to see a new brand. Great results. Ian’s comments resonated with me. 2005 - age 41, 7 hcap, x16s, Heavenwood hybrids, Cleveland Launcher. 2021 - returning to regular golf after career and family limited playing time, age 56, 13 hcap, just invested in TSi2 and Ping Tyne 4 and looking to replace x16s without spending $1200+ on 790s, Apex or 921.
Lately, your content has been resonating with me on so many fronts. After taking some time off golf to focus on family matters, I realized that my game is now in shambles. Mind you playing with 15-year old TM r7 irons isn't helping. Despite the lockdown in Ontario, I dedicated some time during the winter to find my swing again, which helped me to realize that my age and physical ability is trying me that I need help! 😀 I've considered the Inesis irons based on your review but was waiting to get fitted first before committing. Thanks for opening my eyes to other brands besides the big guns!
Just went and got my first swing analyzation. What a difference to see your own swing and how your swing changes happen in real time. Getting close to getting my first club fitting. Thanks guys
I was wondering what to do with my old set of shafts so I ordered the heads after seeing this. For $300 + $50 shipping, can’t go wrong! For a second set, they look great. Thanks for the review and I’ll let you know how they work out.
You described me to a tee… lol. Taylormade oversize irons, rifle shaft from 1997. Back into golf 3 years ago but now I’m single figures and play Mizuno JPX 919 Tour irons. Was wondering about the 301 CB from these guys actually…
So funny, Ian is literally describing me. I’m 43, it’s been 16 years since I played and I recently broke out my TaylorMade RAC irons from 2003. Looking to get into something new after playing my first round in well over a decade. Been practicing at the range for the last two months and I’m hitting the ball pretty well, but the shafts are way too lite for me and obviously the clubs are 20 year old tech. Iron sets are double the price when I last bought a set, so it’s nice to see something like this
Yes please! I am a 1.8 handicap who struggles with distance (but boy is my short game good). If I had some extra distance I feel like my game would be significantly improved. If I won, I would even chronicle the change for you guys.
in 2000 i met a couple of guys in bangkok who were making golf clubs on a houseboat with the help of advertising pictures. processing the different metals, painting, everything on the boat. They were paid by a policeman who picked up the finished clubs and brought them to the shops. they were well made and very professionally packaged like the originals.
As usual, excellent in-depth review on even an unknown brand, which again reinforces your typical honest and unbiased reviews. Thanks again, and keep them rolling. If I could offer just one little criticism on this particular review, and respectfully so. You did not mention or give an idea of the feel of these clubs, which to me at least, is fairly important. Thumbs up gents.
This is definitely the way I am going for my next irons, direct to consumer is the future of golf buying, absolutely beautiful looking clubs, thanks for the review
Wow. Pretty impressive. Entered for the contest. Thx for doing a small OEM outside mainstream and being so honest on the good performance. Value was there.
Well this is the second review I’ve seen on these little beauties. The tallest man in UA-cam golf, James Robinson, did a review not long back which pricked my ears. Very interesting to say the least. My dear old 710 ap2 irons are a little dated to be sure . And at 52,,, I could probably use a little help. The Haywood irons also looked quite nice. Great content as always guys!
Golfsmith… I used to love them. I built and played a set of their blades back when I was a decent player. Loved them and built 3-LW in DG shafts for like $300 or so I think it was. I really get people wanting to go to sets like this.
Can't believe there isn't any "click"...for that price I thought for sure we'd really hear the hit. Great review gentlemen!! And Thx for always sharing with us!!
I'd love to change my irons to a unified set, currently playing with Wilson half set completed later with odd pair of Pinseekers and mixed set of wedges... These Takomo irons look good and price is right there for the average club golfer, nice
Agreed! I just purchased a set of the Maltby TS-1 irons custom built to my exact spec from Golfworks for $600. I’d love to see them get some love here with a review.
@@tke2414 They’re awesome. Consistency and control are as good as anything out there. Very similar to Apex Pros or P770s and lots of folks would argue they perform better than both.
you've hit the nail on the head re going back to a more traditional iron ,, Im 58 went to the P790 's 2 years ago because I loved the look and the feel ( among other things ) and have never looked back !! Thanks guys !!
You hit the nail on the head there, 34 haven't played since i was 21/22 and i want to get back into it. Pulled my old clubs out of the shed to find the shafts have rusted and the grips have not faired well, i can't even find any information on them (Brosnan Striker) so i can't see myself spending any money on them. 500 Aus $ barely gets you a 10 year old set of irons on ebay so at 711 Aus $ delivered to Australia this is definitely on my short list.
Thanks for the great video. Two recommendations: first, you should review Gigagolf irons. Have a combo set of the blade and muscle back irons and love them. Second, you should do a direct to consumer head to head test. Would love to know how they all compare.
Ordered a set immediately after watching the video. I was fit for a set of t100s irons last September and paid 2k for them. Taking lessons from Golftec and my swing has changed dramatically. I lost 8mph with my new swing but much more accurate. Hoping these will fill the gap until my swing speed improves. Seems too good to be true. I will update after receiving my irons from Takoma.
I used to be avid golfer and getting back into my groove. I am looking for something more forgiving than my blades from 2007. These look great and are definitely a good option in my price point. Thanks for reviewing!
Those are some pretty clean looking irons. Direct to consumer market reminds me of back in the day when you could order components and build a set from Golfsmith
This is a good looking iron. Thanks for testing a smaller company's product. Need to see, I imagine a number of mid handicap players being interested as well.
Love that they also have understated branding & markings. One of the reasons I went i500 vs the other hollow body players irons. Keep up the great work!
Great value and great review. I just got new Srixons, but I can see getting these for my dad who is turning into a golf junkie at 76 years old, never having played before now. I have been looking at options for him to progress from the 20 year old starter set I gave him.
I'm gonna take a risk and get a set of these. Currently have a 16 year old set of irons so need to upgrade. Have 3 kids so can't justify spending out loads on a new set, so these seem perfect. Thanks for the review!
It is amazing the DTC clubs that have come out the last few years (Haywood, included), of the affordability and yet, the playability they offer! Nice review, boys!
I like the way they look.. would love to try them out.. backordered to June.. they must be a good product if their sold out.. my current irons are from 2012.. thanks for the great vids guys..
Excellent review guys, these irons look amazing and seem to perform just as well as they look. I currently have an old set of Ben Sayers M2 irons. After a while out of golf (due to career/family) I have decided to get back into it and as you can imagine this video has really resonated with me! Keep up the good work. I will definitely be entering the competition!
These seem to be exactly what I am looking for to replace my Ci9 iron set! Any info on when the draw is planned for? Otherwise, I might head to their site & take a look. Thanks for the chance to win!
Just received these clubs and love them! I’m a high handicap golfer and they are forgiving and looks great. Never have I played better maybe it’s just the confidence of new clubs, but I don’t care as long as it bring my stroke count down 😂
Thanks fellas really enjoyed this. Recently retired generally watch you guys daily Glad to see Matt back, you guys work well together. You seem to really enjoy what you do, it shows through on your videos, keep up the good work, thanks
I ordered 2 sets of the Takomo heads yesterday. I have Aerotech shafts in my 2011 Callaway Diablo Edge irons and was looking for a new set of irons. I have a club-fitter in St. Catharines Ont who will change the heads. Many thanks TXG
Agree with all the others.... Very glad yall test more than the big money items...i enjoyed the sub 70 review and almost ordered. Playing an old set of AP2s I found at a garage sale atm.
I heard you mention Maltby clubs in your opening dialog. I use their clubs exclusively throughout my bag, driver to putter. Id like to see a driver review, particularly of the KE4 head. That would be great. Love your channel, by the way, I've learned so much from watching, and it's improved my club building as a result.
When you guys demo clubs at this price point, and have nothing negative to say about them, I take that as something worth looking into.
or because it's just an ads
And they do come also heads only! How good is that?
You can do fitting with ”similar” heads at your near clubsmith and figure out the best shaft to order!
I love the way you guys acknowledge and in effect, support, the smaller companies by taking a good long look at their products. This is a very nice looking club.

sorry for your loss too. let us know how your club selections goes

This my favorite channel. My fiance doesn't understand why I watch all these videos. I just love it!
Great honest review - will be sending this to a friend who is looking to get his first set. Maybe couple these with the Kirkland wedges too. TXG FTW!
Would be great to see a DTC hollow body vs branded players distance iron (P770, i500, etc) match-up video.
Totally agree! A TXG product comparison between DTC ‘niche’ manufacturers and the branded products would be ideal for amateur golfers to get their thinking and budget around. Food for thought guys?
Won’t happen TXG wants to to sell the branded irons. They’re not going to come promote a DTC as performing close or better then the branded irons.
I know this is old content, but you guys nailed it. Glad to see you guys not being dictated to by big brands and reviewing alternatives fairly.

They're new to everyone. This is their first product release.
Started golfing last year and fell in love with the game. Pieced together my set on a budget with hand-me-downs. These look right up my alley!

Direct to consumer clubs are where it's at! More content on these clubs would be great.
I've been playing these irons since mid July and I have to say I love them. Thanks dudes. I've lower my handicap 4 strokes.
Steel or graphite shafts? Which model?
Takomo 101 irons, steel stiff flex shafts

Just went and got my first swing analyzation. What a difference to see your own swing and how your swing changes happen in real time. Getting close to getting my first club fitting. Thanks guys
You guys have over taken all others as my favorite golf UA-cam channel. Keep the great content coming!
I was wondering what to do with my old set of shafts so I ordered the heads after seeing this. For $300 + $50 shipping, can’t go wrong! For a second set, they look great. Thanks for the review and I’ll let you know how they work out.

Some of the lesser known companies make inexpensive clubs, some even make inexpensive, quality irons. Thanks for the tip, well worth considering.
This is definitely the way I am going for my next irons, direct to consumer is the future of golf buying, absolutely beautiful looking clubs, thanks for the review
Great to see TXG supporting other club companies.
Wow. Pretty impressive. Entered for the contest. Thx for doing a small OEM outside mainstream and being so honest on the good performance. Value was there.
Enjoying to see you fellas doing direct to consumer golf clubs. Golf equipment can get quite pricey really fast. Enjoy the videos as always.👍
Love seeing the versatility in content. Not just about the expensive. Great job guys. So addicted to the channel.
Love seeing you guys test the cheaper and less known brands!
Awesome review. Thank you for reviewing direct consumer clubs which very rare to see.
Wow. I love your objective tests. Even a small company without big advertising has a chance of getting a good fair result. 👍🏻
Golfsmith… I used to love them. I built and played a set of their blades back when I was a decent player. Loved them and built 3-LW in DG shafts for like $300 or so I think it was. I really get people wanting to go to sets like this.
Playing PXG 0211 dualcore right now , LOVE THEM

With a very hard ball too! I bet they feel downright buttery with a Pro V1 or Chrome Soft.
I bought a set because of this video. I can't wait to get them.
I'd love to change my irons to a unified set, currently playing with Wilson half set completed later with odd pair of Pinseekers and mixed set of wedges... These Takomo irons look good and price is right there for the average club golfer, nice
Loved this review. Great to see you’re open to equipment that performs well regardless of the brand.
Love to see the industry grow with all these smaller, DTC brands. Great way to grow the game
@TXG It would be interesting to see a test on one of the MALTBY iron sets as they are priced similar to these.
The DBMs specifically - seems like those are their most popular.
Agreed! I just purchased a set of the Maltby TS-1 irons custom built to my exact spec from Golfworks for $600. I’d love to see them get some love here with a review.

Very nice looking irons and comparable specs to the P790’s at only about a 1/3 of the price! Great review!

This video is for me. Im pulling out my Pink ISIk I played in highschool and college. Love the content
I think the DTC club market has been great for growing the game. Really great to hear you giving them an honest review.
Right when you said “pulling out big berthas” nailed my situation 👍
Never heard of them. Look forward to seeing them in the future
Newer to golf, this set is exactly what I've been looking for
I am a 16 yr old playing titleist dci 762 from like 2001, looking for some new irons with out spending a grand. Love these types of vids
What a ball striker, absolute joy to watch. Get yourself on tour 👏👏👏👏👏
I am late to the Takomo brand. Thanks for your review and comments. Plan on looking in to these irons in greater detail based on your review. Thanks

You can still do it with Golfworks. Great stuff.
This is a good looking iron. Thanks for testing a smaller company's product. Need to see, I imagine a number of mid handicap players being interested as well.
Excellent approach in reviewing clubs. Very informative
Love that they also have understated branding & markings. One of the reasons I went i500 vs the other hollow body players irons. Keep up the great work!
i500s luv mine
Can’t believe how both you guys are swinging the club. Great to watch and nice set of irons.
Love the way the club market is changing with quality, DTC at great prices. Sub 70 and New Level great as well.
Never heard of these irons before. Thanks for the honest evaluation of the irons. Definitely going to do some more research. Keep it up guys.
Great value and great review. I just got new Srixons, but I can see getting these for my dad who is turning into a golf junkie at 76 years old, never having played before now. I have been looking at options for him to progress from the 20 year old starter set I gave him.
Great review guys. Any high handicap player would be pretty chuffed to strut into the Saturday comp with a set of those irons in their bag👍
I'm gonna take a risk and get a set of these. Currently have a 16 year old set of irons so need to upgrade.
Have 3 kids so can't justify spending out loads on a new set, so these seem perfect.
Thanks for the review!
Picking up a set of 101s for the 2023 season for sure!
Gotta love the marriage of technology and modern business modeling.
All of the quality DTC club makers popping up relatively recently is REALLY making me consider a new set of sticks.
Love the efforts here by newer companies for budget clubs
Great stuff guys - €459 in EU. Worth a look....
I'm in the market to upgrade my irons. These definitely look interesting to me. Thanks for the great, honest review!
Second review I’ve seen on these. May have to make a project out of them. Really cool to see that kind of performance out of that price point.
These seem to be exactly what I am looking for to replace my Ci9 iron set! Any info on when the draw is planned for? Otherwise, I might head to their site & take a look. Thanks for the chance to win!
I’ve been thinking about replacing my Ci9s also.
Just received these clubs and love them! I’m a high handicap golfer and they are forgiving and looks great. Never have I played better maybe it’s just the confidence of new clubs, but I don’t care as long as it bring my stroke count down 😂
Just found your channel recently and am absolutely loving the content. Thanks so much!
Thanks fellas really enjoyed this. Recently retired generally watch you guys daily Glad to see Matt back, you guys work well together. You seem to really enjoy what you do, it shows through on your videos, keep up the good work, thanks
Great review. This kind of quality and price is what will save golf, enable more people to play.
Tacomo now has the 201 which is closer to a players iron for lower handicapped golfers.
Looking forward to you guys reviewing those.
This videos is awesome! I’ve been hitting the same clubs since HS but now I think I’ll get a set!!
These look so clean! Thanks for the opportunity to win these lads
What a great video! These types of videos are a major reason we love you guys.
Brooooooo the wildest thing I’ve seen in this channel is hearing Ian say he was 36 holy cow
He was always either 25 or 45 to me

@@mattc3233 Legit thought he was in his 40's just because of how mature his delivery of his craft is.
I ordered 2 sets of the Takomo heads yesterday. I have Aerotech shafts in my 2011 Callaway Diablo Edge irons and was looking for a new set of irons. I have a club-fitter in St. Catharines Ont who will change the heads. Many thanks TXG
The second set of heads is for a friend.
Still waiting for my 2 sets of Takomo iron heads. Delivery is now delayed to mid-July. Hope this is a legitimate company.
