- On this day, NOTHING WORKED! All residents were in activities but Mama wouldn't go in there to participate. While everyone was occupied, she wanted to shop in their rooms. I tried, along with staff, to get her shoes on to outside and burn some energy. However, Mama refused to put on shoes. She walked around and around INSIDE for hours. She woudn't stop to eat or anything else.
The staff was happy I was there to at least keep an eye on her as they are often short of help. My asthma was cutting up but Dementia does not care. It is really mind-blowing. This is US and Dementia is REAL. Our new normal.
I feel so blindsided by some of this. There is no way I'd keep this to myself. Everyone needs to be AWARE of what could be. None of us are exempt.

Not sure what meds she's taking but I ask her provider if there is something more they can give her for agitation. As they move through the different stages of dementia, their medication management may need to be adjusted to keep them safe.❤
Miss Anne was a lady I took care of. She would walk all day and night. When she got tired, she would lean when she walked but always refused to go to bed. She was a school teacher and would always correct you if you didn't use proper english😊

I see why you cant keep her at home not sure why others dont. Your mom is going to do just what she wants. She is safe. Best of all, she has plenty of places to walk.

I lost my Mom September 29, 2023, stage 7 of Alzheimer, she was 97 I miss her everyday.

Norma walks really well and it look like most of the floors are carpet. She’s good.
Young lady I've been following you with your mom God bless you I am a retired nurse of 30 + years and I've worked in alzheimer's unit or dementia unit this is one of the symptoms that people have with your mom's disease they call it the wandering affect where they walk and walk until they usually wear themselves out my prayers are with you this disease can be very very overwhelming for family and staff my prayers are for you this process is not an easy one so I'm asking God to give your mom the piece to slow down I'll give you the strength and the and the support that you need to get through this God bless you

Just as long as your mom is safe and getting her exercise in, God bless her she still can walk and her posture is great. My mother hasn't walked in 4 years and I thank God for the staff that do the best that they can to help her and help me. God Bless you and your Momma Loves you.

My Mom was a sitter, she sat all day only got up to go to the bathroom. I take hats off to you Crystal, you are getting your daily steps in with your Mom. May God continue to give you the strength, the Patience and the Love towards your beautiful Mom. When she does not respond to you calling her Mom, call her by her full name, they always respond.
I am glad she's in a nice facility for your sake as well as hers. I would probably go nuts if it was me and my mom.

I'm so sorry you can't keep Mrs Norma still enough to visit with her. I'll be praying for her peace and ability to enjoy you like you want to enjoy her. Take joy in these walks though, because we never know when they will cease!

God bless you dear woman! My mom passed from Alzheimer’s in 2019 and I was her primary caregiver. She was a handful and she was not nearly as feisty or busy as Ms. Norma!!! I’m so grateful that she has you, and I pray God’s grace, strength and blessings over your life!

Have you introduced her to a treadmill? She obviously LOVES to walk and I notice when she comes to an end, she turns around to continue to walk. And Bless you, you are a good daughter.
She a fall risk. She cannot get on a treadmill. If she were to fall and break a hip, it would be over.

I really love your personality! You don’t give up and you try to make the best of every situation! We need more people like this with their elderly parents. Some people have a bad experience with them and say well they don’t know me anyway and just stick them in a facility and move on. You make sure your mom is nicely dressed and even have earrings on. You probably are keeping her up the way she kept herself up when she was able. And I really appreciate that. I have seen some patients at rest home facilities that always look like it’s time to go to bed. You ma’am are a GREAT daughter! Keep up the great work and God bless you and your family! ❤❤

I love your nick name for her!❤. My Granny wouldn't be told anything! Couldn't keep her still for shit. Dr told her once she had alzheimer's and couldn't go home until she was back on her medication. All 4ft 11inches and 6 n half stone flew across his desk and popped him in the eye! He was absent from work for 3 day's coz it was swollen shut!😢

I wish there was a way you could put a step tracker on her bet she walks miles a day if not more . I know miss Norma has a strong heart ! I know it isn’t realistic that you could keep a stepper on her but would be curious to see how many steps she takes in just one day

They don't sit down. My father paced until he couldn't anymore. I just sat a crocheted until he was tired. I knew once he sat for 15 minutes he would sleep. It's apart of the disease
Since I have been on this journey with you and your mom, I 've noticed a difference in her weight with all the walking. Is my observation correct? Wouldn't that be an improvement in her heart health with the walking exercises she gets in ?😊

she gets aggravated with what feels like harassment, a camera stuck in her face, being forced to eat, to not enjoy walking without being questioned about every little thing.
Perhaps more of your time could be spent with other family and friends instead of profiting off of your about to go off on you mom!!
Usually Ms. Norma is sitting down, relaxing & crystal comes bothering her, & she starts the walking.
