Getting Jay Stansfield back would be amazing but he would cost us a lot of money and I’m sure that would be tough to get over the line. However, with these owners you never know! In my opinion we need cover at right back for Laird and we're still at least one striker short. Overall the signings we have made so far have been top notch and I'm sure that there will be more to come that will address our shortfalls. What a time to be a Blues fan though.

Hmm.... I'm not sure about a third keeper, although I see the logic. I'm just thinking back to the days of Steve Bruce when we had Nico Vassen, Ian Bennett and Richard Kingson. I don't think that it was any secret that Bennett and Kingson were unhappy with their game time. Perhaps a solution might be to send Mayo out on loan with a recall option in case of injuries. I guess it really depends on how the Gaffer intends to use the Carabao and the BSM Trophy. I'm probably getting a bit greedy, but I think we are overdue a bit of a cup run 😉 KRO

He is getting to that stage of his career where he needs to get first team experience, even if that is down to the National League. If that happens and Allsop or Peacock-Farrell get injured we could have a problem. I don't think anyone who we are watching now in preseason will be leaving. Other than the young ones on loan. That said, I think we only need a right back and left-footed centre back. On top of that, stano is the answer up front. He can play through the middle or on the right. Get a couple of loanees in job done. 100 points on the way and up we go for a shot at the Premier! KRO

I’ve mentioned in a few other comments that I can’t really see why any player would want to leave unless of course they were offered an opportunity in the prem or top league in Europe. Interesting I’ve seen speculations of Ipswich being interested in JJ, so that could be interesting. It can usually be quite hectic toward the end of the transfer window and as you point out I expect us to loan some of our young players out but I wouldn’t be surprised see a few more departure. The biggest problem Chris Davies is going to have is keeping all the squad happy, but what a lovely problem to have. It's down to the players to fight for their place and do all that they need to do to keep it as it's all about partnerships and having a solid and settled team, so making lots of changes on a regular basis makes it difficult with that regard. Having said that, the game today is much more of a squad game than a team game, so that’s the beauty of having the squad that we do, we can rest players or if things aren't going well Chris Davies will be able to look at the bench with real confidence. Our current squad is high in numbers and quality. We just need to get to the end of the transfer window so we know for sure who's going to be a Blues player until January at least. As you know I'm a big admirer of JJ and it doesn't surprise me that he's being linked with so many top flight clubs and the likes of Atalanta because he is massively underrated and under appreciated in my humble opinion. I think he's the only one that could leave, but I really we don't lose him. Like you, I think another RB is a must and a left-footed CB. A holding defensive minded but also good on the ball CM would be a very welcome addition. We've already got loads of icing on the Birmingham City cake with all the fantastic signings we've made up to this point, and those are better in quality than those that we've let go. The cherry on the cake would be to sign Jay Stansfield as we do need another CF and there's not another striker out there that I would want more!! (Being realistic, of course). If we could get Stansfield, and I really think we can despite the fact he's highly sought after. I think despite being in League One (hopefully for just one season) I think the connection with the fans, the project and Chris Davies sells Birmingham City and Stansfield had a significant taste of what it's like to be adored and appreciated by the Blues fans and that's a massive pull for him I'm sure. He's still very young, so one season in League One after such an impressive Championship season won't be a major problem. I don't think. And the best thing is that people in the club are saying more to come so I can see another few coming in before the window closes :) Yeah, I saw the rumours around JJ today. I think it was Ipswich that I read this morning. We are holding out for £10 million but they want to of course negotiate lower. Not sure how true this all is but if he is to go then I really hope we hold out for what we want and at least make it a good piece of business. I do think he might stay. The players seem to be really enjoying football under CD and they all seem to have a smile on their face. It's a completely different energy this year. Stansfield really would be the icing on the cake and I think others agree. I still think the CDM is a more pressing priority but if we can snap him up I would be absolutely buzzing. Again, not sure how true this is but I read £5 million and rising to add ons of around £10 million. Would certainly be amazing if he came through the door! Completely agree that the midfield is a tricky area. We’re currently looking decent, but if players leave (eg, JJ, Paik, Miyoshi, etc) we could be left sparse. Also agree that a physical def mid and a quality right winger are essential. Leonard is that box-to-box player we’ve needed for ages though

Agree with what you said. Could see 6-7 more faces however not sure if these will all be permanent or include a couple of loans. Also think it depends on who leaves. In terms of the GK situation, might be able to find a experienced head who is happy being third choice Espesially if they can supplement it with a coaching role. A bit like Scott Carson does at Man City.

But I know the offer is on the table. It’s a better deal than he’s on now obviously but if the Club wanted to, they could just activate the one year extension clause so they are being fair with him.

Possible now concentrate on the right side of things including another central defender and right back. Midfielders and strikers x2 I agree we need possibly another 6 players. Well as we expected it’s looking like JJ is off. I would be happy with that especially if we can get Bosan Lawal. It’d be very tough to get him but I think he would be the first name on the sheet in the midfield. George Hall tends to be put on the right but I always think he’d be better in the middle. Donovan may well be another who can play on the right. He looks like he’d adapt and even if we wasn’t fully ready right now if he had a decent run he’d improve massively.

Why put a young keeper in for the cups when we have two first team goal keepers fighting for number one? Makes no sense to leave one on the bench and play a third in the cups. It just causes unrest with players.

I think with the pure volume of games CD will be looking to rotate the squad a decent amount but I love the fact we now have competition for spaces as apposed to the last few season of not having enough depth and also relying heavily on the loans we got in. It's a good problem to have for once 😂 I also get a really good vibe from the players this year in the interviews and when they talk. I strongly agree with everything you’ve said. Just signing loads of players for the sake of it, is a big risk on squad morale. The team are looking very strong and together at the moment, which will only improve the more they play together. The big risk for us right now is if we lose players in the window. Given our recent impressive performances and absolute transformation, I think players will want to stick around. This could be one hell of a journey for them and their careers (Promotion, possible cup). In my biased opinion Birmingham are now one of the most attractive option for players in English football outside of the premier league. The project is real.
I think it will depend on how many leave. I could easily see another 2-3 permanent coming in and then 2-3 on loan so 7 may not be completely unrealistic Espesially if James and/or Paik leave. For me, we need another CB, RB, and 1 or 2 strikers. Agree about the Gk, depending on Mayo. Then if one or both of James/Paik do leave then another midfielder or 2
Definitely another forward unless they bring Dixon in another midfield like you said defensive midfielder and the right side winger and right back and a centre half maybe some of the youngsters will be bought in but definitely more signings on the way KRO

We have 4 central defenders if we add Tommy Fogarty. Brandon Khela as cover at R.B. Rangers match clock the mass substitution and the position they played

It’ll Be nice to have a squad that aint injured half the season. Since Eustace got the bullet we’ve not had those hamstring injuries and muscle injuries like we did under his tenure. Don’t be surprised to see buchanan playing left side CB as he wont play at LB over Cochran. There will be some surprises to come yet and also maybe one or two leaving. Laird was immense vs Rangers. Id rather have athletic and pacey CB than big tall lumps. I was surprised at how many Rangers fans lauded JJ and would like him at Rangers. Tall forwards = hoof ball gents. We need to play football not the same old rubbish at blues we’ve had for too many years. Cut teams open instead of 50/50 air balls. Keep possession not launch Ariel bombardments. We dont score many goals like that just like marc roberts long throws of previous seasons.. its awful desperate football. We have a proper coach and manager now who will cut that rubbish out.

Injuries have been a real issue for us over many season and it has partly been a result of buying injury prone players and lack of squad depth. Hopefully, both can be addressed under the new regime. We have made some top signings and I’m looking forward to seeing a fresh, new, free flowing style of football which is something we will not have seen before. I’m also pleased we have Chris Davies who will instigate a new approach to training, tactics and togetherness. I’m also pleased we did not appoint a ‘name’ as manager. You are right , we have bought in 8 players so far but at the end of last season we let 5 seniors players go plus the five loans went back to their parent clubs and on top of that we sold Pritchard and it is pretty certain that Bacuna and Longelo will be gone soon. That makes 13 player out and there could be more.. The financial rules are different in League One where we are allowed to spend up to a percentage of our income and these new owners are generating a huge amount of income through sponsorships, corporate income, naming rights and lots of other means. We’ve also sold an awful lot of season tickets and I expect most home game to be sold out. We have business astute owners who I have every confidence that we won’t get into issues with the leagues financially regulations. KRO and kind regards (Gary)

Not sure how true this all is but if he is to go then I really hope we hold out for what we want and at least make it a good piece of business. I do think he might stay. The players seem to be really enjoying football under CD and they all seem to have a smile on their face. It's a completely different energy this year.
Stansfield really would be the icing on the cake and I think others agree. I still think the CDM is a more pressing priority but if we can snap him up I would be absolutely buzzing. Again, not sure how true this is but I read £5 million and rising to add ons of around £10 million. Would certainly be amazing if he came through the door!

@SmallHeathAllianceFC I really hope JJ stays, but if we get £10 million for him, that would represent a decent bit of business. That being said, we don't need to sell him as we're not a selling club (it feels strange, but really good being able to say that 😁).
Who would you like to see us sign in CDM? We desperately need another striker. I do think that's a must, and I just hope we can pull off what would be the biggest business of the summer and sign Stansfield!!!!

Completely agree that the midfield is a tricky area. We’re currently looking decent, but if players leave (eg, JJ, Paik, Miyoshi, etc) we could be left sparse. Also agree that a physical def mid and a quality right winger are essential. Leonard is that box-to-box player we’ve needed for ages though
JJ has been offered a new contract. Davies has said if the players are starting pre-season, it's because we want them at the club. Paik, Miyoshi, are both staying it's been confirmed KRO SOTV.

So happy with the signing of Leonard. In fact, I have been impressed with all the signings. They did say getting a championship ready club but even still, several have taken me by surprise. We are in for one hell of a season and I can't wait for that first game against reading!

Agree with what you said. Could see 6-7 more faces however not sure if these will all be permanent or include a couple of loans. Also think it depends on who leaves. In terms of the GK situation, might be able to find a experienced head who is happy being third choice Espesially if they can supplement it with a coaching role. A bit like Scott Carson does at Man City.

I wonder if JJ will sign a new contract. I'm not sure how true this is but apparently Ipswich are sniffing around him. I'm sure it's all just speculation and rumours at the moment but did see that this morning.
I think the players are possibly seeing Bielik renew and the calibre of players we are signing and genuinely excited to be apart of this club and being on the journey.

@@BCFCRoyalBlue well, he’s been offered a new contract because Dave said it whether he signs it or not is a different story but I can’t see him going for anything under 10 million if he does go, it’s because he wants to leave in that case we don’t need him. But I know the offer is on the table. It’s a better deal than he’s on now obviously but if the Club wanted to, they could just activate the one year extension clause so they are being fair with him.

Certainly seems the left side has taken a priority but what a side that is going to be: Cochran, Buchannen, Hansson, Dembele, Anderson etc. We have so much strength and talent down that side it's unreal.
Need some more depth on that right side for sure and I have no doubt that will come before the window is finished.

Well as we expected it’s looking like JJ is off. I would be happy with that especially if we can get Bosan Lawal. It’d be very tough to get him but I think he would be the first name on the sheet in the midfield. George Hall tends to be put on the right but I always think he’d be better in the middle. Donovan may well be another who can play on the right. He looks like he’d adapt and even if we wasn’t fully ready right now if he had a decent run he’d improve massively.

I suppose it comes down to him now and whether he wants to stay with ‘the project’ or wants to move onto a new challenge. I hope he stays.
As you point out we have Romelle Donovan and George Hall who could both play on the right to back up

Why put a young keeper in for the cups when we have two first team goal keepers fighting for number one? Makes no sense to leave one on the bench and play a third in the cups. It just causes unrest with players.

I think with the pure volume of games CD will be looking to rotate the squad a decent amount but I love the fact we now have competition for spaces as apposed to the last few season of not having enough depth and also relying heavily on the loans we got in. It's a good problem to have for once 😂
I also get a really good vibe from the players this year in the interviews and when they talk. It seems CD has got them really motivated and buying into his style of football.

7 more signings? Not sure about that. I wouldn’t want to ruin the togetherness they have. Would 7 more do that? Also we need to factor in our great youth players like Donavan who would add that depth we need. A new RB and maybe CB also striker for me aka Stanfield (😅)

I strongly agree with everything you’ve said. Just signing loads of players for the sake of it, is a big risk on squad morale. The team are looking very strong and together at the moment, which will only improve the more they play together. The big risk for us right now is if we lose players in the window. Given our recent impressive performances and absolute transformation, I think players will want to stick around. This could be one hell of a journey for them and their careers (Promotion, possible cup). In my biased opinion Birmingham are now one of the most attractive option for players in English football outside of the premier league. The project is real.
I think it will depend on how many leave. I could easily see another 2-3 permanent coming in and then 2-3 on loan so 7 may not be completely unrealistic Espesially if James and/or Paik leave. For me, we need another CB, RB, and 1 or 2 strikers. Agree about the Gk, depending on Mayo. Then if one or both of James/Paik do leave then another midfielder or 2
Definitely another forward unless they bring Dixon in another midfield like you said defensive midfielder and the right side winger and right back and a centre half maybe some of the youngsters will be bought in but definitely more signings on the way KRO

We have 4 central defenders if we add Tommy Fogarty. Brandon Khela as cover at R.B. Rangers match clock the mass substitution and the position they played

It’ll Be nice to have a squad that aint injured half the season. Since Eustace got the bullet we’ve not had those hamstring injuries and muscle injuries like we did under his tenure. Don’t be surprised to see buchanan playing left side CB as he wont play at LB over Cochran. There will be some surprises to come yet and also maybe one or two leaving. Laird was immense vs Rangers. Id rather have athletic and pacey CB than big tall lumps. I was surprised at how many Rangers fans lauded JJ and would like him at Rangers. Tall forwards = hoof ball gents. We need to play football not the same old rubbish at blues we’ve had for too many years. Cut teams open instead of 50/50 air balls. Keep possession not launch Ariel bombardments. We dont score many goals like that just like marc roberts long throws of previous seasons.. its awful desperate football. We have a proper coach and manager now who will cut that rubbish out.
Thank you for to for your comment and you make some good points. Injuries have been a real issue for us over many season and it has partly been a result of buying injury prone players and lack of squad depth. Hopefully, both can be addressed under the new regime.
We have made some top signings and I’m looking forward to seeing a fresh, new, free flowing style of football which is something we will not have seen before. I’m also pleased we have Chris Davies who will instigate a new approach to training, tactics and togetherness. I’m also pleased we did not appoint a ‘name’ as manager. You are right , we have bought in 8 players so far but at the end of last season we let 5 seniors players go plus the five loans went back to their parent clubs and on top of that we sold Pritchard and it is pretty certain that Bacuna and Longelo will be gone soon. That makes 13 player out and there could be more..
The financial rules are different in League One where we are allowed to spend up to a percentage of our income and these new owners are generating a huge amount of income through sponsorships, corporate income, naming rights and lots of other means. We’ve also sold an awful lot of season tickets and I expect most home game to be sold out. We have business astute owners who I have every confidence that we won’t get into issues with the leagues financially regulations. KRO and kind regards (Gary)
