Walter Payton Sweetness is still no.1 in my book he ran, he caught passes , he blocked great ,he passed for touchdowns plus he even he won the kickoff return title earlier in his career with an avg. of 31yards per return plus he could punt the football too so Jerry Rice is not no.1 maybe no.2,stats alone does not make you the best.Payton not only have rushing stats against defenses stacked to stop the Bears rushing attack he did many other things as stated above I donot agree with the vote.
I figure HBCU is like a tiny college but I thought it was overrated players when I saw Michael Strahan it's a sin that he has the sack record because Reggie White was 3 million times the player Strahan could ever dream of being
The problem with this list is that because there were so many great future NFL players who played at HBCU's in the 1950s through early 1980s you could actually come up with a top 50 list. There are 30 NFL Hall of Famers from HBCU's including many of the "best of the best". You could certainly make an argument for all 30, but most especially among those not included in this list that are most deserving of being on the list are Buck Buchanan, Willie Davis, Leroy Kelly, Charlie Joiner, Bob Hayes, Larry Little and Shannon Sharpe. But, to put one on you have to take one off and Doug Williams is the only one on the list not in the HOF and he certainly is deserving as the first African-American QB to win a Super Bowl. Then there are other non-HOF players like Steve McNair, Hugh Douglas, Fonald Driver, Everson Walls, Too Tall Jones, L.C. Greenwood and Greg Lloyd who were really good too.
You Gather Up Everyone On This List And Place Them In The Starting Lineup With Anytime Today And Without No Question This List Of All Time Greats Would Win Every Game And The Superbowl
Whether it be Willie Lanier or Doug Williams, it wasn't that folks thought they weren't smart enough, it was just they played positions preserved for White players and the Black player was supposed to think he couldn't play it...which made Blacks want to play those positions.
Doug Williams' career would best be described as "solid." Far from a Hall of Famer, not even a Pro Bowler, not such a great completion percentage. But he took a marginal team to the post season multiple times, we all know what a great Super Bowl he had. And he tossed more TDs than interceptions over the course of his career, which is a benchmark for QB success. Joe Namath can't say that.
Why do people ignore the fact that Jerry Rice had 2 HOF QBs throwing him the ball most of his career?! Walter Payton went to the Bears when they were awful! He single handily made them into a playoff team in 1977!
Great documentary! I learned about guys I'd heard (from media professionals) went to D1 schools that actually went to HBCU's. Adam Rank summed it up nicely at the end. This is not the greatest HBCU players of all time this is the greatest players of all time
I always kinda thought they called it a "sack", cause that's what it looks like normally when the QB is sacked. Like if they were in a sack, legs wrapped up and fall over, like the sack race, on field day.

Even though it's in the description
Or they know what it is but are being intentionally obtuse
Can u please take me to heaven?
I can recall that until around 1975, the top Black recruits absolutely wanted to go the Grambling’s, etc.
I figure HBCU is like a tiny college but I thought it was overrated players when I saw Michael Strahan it's a sin that he has the sack record because Reggie White was 3 million times the player Strahan could ever dream of being
15:52, 16:05 ,16:08 sounds brought to you by nfl gameday ps1 lol
Love entire the list...shout out to no. 4 Mel Blount. One of my all-time favorites.
Now they gotta do Top 10 players from HWCU!!
(i.e. Every College & University in the South before 1980)!!
They should make a NFL top ten missed field goals next
We all know what #1 would be.
Norwood or Blair Walsh
Loved this 💜🤙🏽
The problem with this list is that because there were so many great future NFL players who played at HBCU's in the 1950s through early 1980s you could actually come up with a top 50 list.
There is no way Scott doesn’t smoke
Young people go 2 HBCU,u will get noticed and build your communities up,put fans in stands,NFL scouts will come!
4 time super bowl winner John "freakin" stallworth I believe should be on this list.
You Gather Up Everyone On This List And Place Them In The Starting Lineup With Anytime Today And Without No Question This List Of All Time Greats Would Win Every Game And The Superbowl
If deacon Jones played now he would get lots of flags with the current rules.
GTKelly Its called HBCU YARD SPORTS IT COVERS ANYTHING THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH BLACK COLLEGES
Whether it be Willie Lanier or Doug Williams, it wasn't that folks thought they weren't smart enough, it was just they played positions preserved for White players and the Black player was supposed to think he couldn't play it...which made Blacks want to play those positions.
Love those creamsicle Bucs uniforms.
Still the best uni ever.
Sweetness, my personal GOAT
Doug Williams' career would best be described as "solid." Far from a Hall of Famer, not even a Pro Bowler, not such a great completion percentage. But he took a marginal team to the post season multiple times, we all know what a great Super Bowl he had. And he tossed more TDs than interceptions over the course of his career, which is a benchmark for QB success. Joe Namath can't say that.
DEAR BLACK ATHLETES PLEASE GO BACK 2 ATTENDING HBCU's THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED!!!
Black athletes are still going to HBCU'S. Do you really want to go back to segregation?
I can't believe Steve McNair didn't make it
Why do people ignore the fact that Jerry Rice had 2 HOF QBs throwing him the ball most of his career?!
