I can't fucking belive how coincidental this is Just before this video I watched AVGN Can't belive there is someone out there who watches both of these channels
Ok, real talk? I don't know if this has already happened yet, but I would love to see a collaboration between Chugga and Jirard one day. If Jirard ever wants to complete the original Xenoblade Chronicles, he should definitely get Chugga on the horn.
I'm 17 now, and just as I got 16 or something, I started to realize just how damn awesome the fact is, that my mom had a SNES I could play with, and that games like Kirbys Dream Land (yes, GameBoy games work on snes), Metroid 2, and Super Mario Bros All Star Collection were a part of my early childhood, although this wasn't even my generation of consoles anymore...
it's hard to put completion bonuses to a game without a battery to save data. Back in the day I always used to play in extra mode (I love this game, it is the very first game o fully completed myself without any help when I was 6) and it would had been very annoying having to play trough the normal mode, or having to put passwords (which essentially would had been the very same thing that the code you have to put but more tiresome) every time I wanted to play. And essentially been given the code once you passed the normal game is the same thing as a completion bonus. Specially back in the day without internet, I myself didn't knew about it until I had beaten the game.
Some people forget what the early days without Saves were like. What if I want to listen to the music? Having a menu code was the only way to get there in decent time.
This was the first game I ever beat, I still have my original copy of the game. It will always be one of my most favorite games, brings a smile to my face over 25 years later
As a kid, I’d play this on my brick of a game boy. I remember playing through as fast as I could to get to dedede, just to dodge the king in the ring and enjoy that theme song. Still get it caught in my head 20 years later. Good stuff.
Star warrior 101 i already have the game ALMOST 100 percented. I even looked up the mini-games to see the max and did that...but I don’t think I have it in me to do that new story after all I did to get everything else.
3:46 actually this choice was made from a design perspective as the team needed an easy to play character to start with and one with a mode of transportation that defies physics
"King MF DeDeDe: Triple check" - A Triple Deluxe reference? "Completing KDL is a relative breeze" -Reference to Spring Breeze? I feel like there is more that I missed.
Me, a European, looking at that Dream Collection pack : I wish we had that. And it's bold of you to assume Kirby, the most powerful being in the universe, survived only because he is Sakurai's son
The copy ability as you mentioned first appeared in adventure, but in super star you can play through a remake of dreamland! Maybe you just mixed those up.
On top of that, Kirby finishes Dreamland by absorbing the Sparkling Stars and turning into Balloon Kirby. Technically Balloon is his first copy ability. Putting it out there, I always thought the silver lining to this game's ending was "oh you're going to get crazy abilities next game because of this."
I remember that Kirby's Dreamland was my very first gameboy game and I love it so so so much. Kirby was also the very first character I attempted when I started making Amigurumi. It was always amusing to see my friend walk about with it sitting on top of his afro.
I hope that whenever Nintendo brings Game Boy games to the Switch that they have different color palettes. I don't want to see puke green monochrome anymore.
I've played Kirby's Dreamland 2 so many times that I used to dream of that games levels because I had it completely memorized. Just a fun and relaxing game and the second one is even a bit longer.
DUDE this is super trippy, I literally just watched the Let's Play of this on Super Beard Bros Channel this past week. This is some coincidence I did not see coming!

Keep up the good work man. Edit: Also GTA5 would also be interesting to see you go for if you haven't done already off screen.
@9:00 Great it’s 9:32 PM but now I’m gonna go make myself a cup of noodles, that sounds so good right now! Thanks for this, I was going through the stories and mechanics before playing DL 3 on NSO.
Dude, I remember this game being IMPOSSIBLE when I was really young, like 7 years old. Perfect difficulty for Sakurai's philosophy. Also, King Dedede's theme is the single song that got me interested in music. Literally the first piece of music I actually noticed and cared about
Jirard?! Your beard is gray! Why are you doing this to yourself?! Graybeards aside, this was a treat, and since I'm thinking of getting into Kirby games officially, this will be a game I have to play at some point.
A couple of years ago me and a friend tried to beat this game as part of a Nintendo completionist thing (Inspired by you Jirard). We were using an emulation on the computer, and searched around a little for the start key. It took a bit, but we got into the game... And got absolutely thwomped, neither of us could so much as beat the first level. About an hour later, we both quit and said "Wow, games back then really were tough huh?" We had accidentally entered the Extra mode combination while searching for the start key XDD
3:42 I think that Sakurai sacrificed Kirby, making him "eh" at higher level play, but making him intuitive for a beginner, so he wanted players to be forced to start with him. He's also, of course, one of the characters available in the main mode at the beginning of Ultimate, providing another chance for new players to get used to the game with a simpler character.
Kirby's Dream Land has always been one of my favorite classic Game Boy titles! I received it as a present and was totally surprised at this new (at the time) character. It wasn't Mario, Mega Man or Zelda ... this was a strange ball I've never seen before. You weren't saving the princess or the land from evil either. You where getting back all the food for Dream Land from a big fat penguin! This was quite unique, really showed what the Game Boy could offer, and I loved every single play-thru. If you are a fan of that classic playable grey brick from the early years of Nintendo, you need to own this title! When you're done, there is a stack of other games to play after. All of witch just improve on this simple idea! ^_^

I love Kirby for that aspect, too. I mean, Epic Yarn for example is a game I can always pick up and just indulge in because it is so beautiful in design.

Kirby is like Pennywise for monsters, He eats them, is kinda unkillable, and comes back after 27 years
Last time I was this early, Jirad's beard didn't have white in it.
It’s because the white paint he had to put on for the thumbnail. What, you thought those were drawn?
