    Good review. Love the airflo impact running line, that stuff jacks!

    Great review and have enjoyed your videos as well! Have been considering this rod and can't wait to try it at the fly fishing show next month! How do you think it would handle the lighter delta II 7/8? Thanks

      I can guarantee you'll be impressed when you get to cast it. As far as using a 7/8 Delta II, yes the rod will cast it, but it won't be a long range solution like the 8/9. Just keep the casting stroke short, like when casting shooting heads, and it will go just fine.

    Hello, really enjoying all your videos! I wanted to ask what reel you had on this Asquith for the balance? A danielsson I’m assuming… what model?

    • @hooked4lifeca
      @hooked4lifeca  2 роки тому +1

      It depends on the line I'm using, but I alternate between a Danielsson LW8twelve and an HD9thirteen.

    Great review!
    Do you think #8 NRX+ would handle this wide range of heads too?
    What's your favourite Airflo Rage Compact grain on Asquith?

    • @hooked4lifeca
      @hooked4lifeca  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, without any worries. I normally use a 510 Rage on the rod along with 10' PolyLeaders.

      @@hooked4lifeca that was my feeling after casting 540 grain Rage with my NRX+.
      It did alright but I think the sweetspot for Rage is that tiny bit lighter head around 500-510.
      Thank you for help!

    Hey peter.
    Great review own the rod and it's fantastic.
    I'm just wondering have you cast the Asquith 14' #9 weight as i want it for Early spring conditions and windy conditions for Skagit casting fir Atlantic Salmon.
    Great to get your input on this 👍
    Thanks

      No, I haven't had the chance to cast the 14' 9/10. The 13' 6" 8 wt. is a very powerful rod so I can imagine the 14 footer would be the same. Loomis rods are generally consistent across each model range.

    When will Gloomis have some Asquith or NRX salmon fly rods available in 6 piece travel rods.
    I would buy one in a heartbeat if they were available. 14ft and 15ft. The bigger rods get misplaced in transit frequently on international flights. Shorter 6pcs are easy to fit in travel cases. Guideline LSI rod for no is my go to travel rod . Wish it was Gloomis

      I don't have any inside knowledge, but I don't see any six piece rods on the horizon.

      @@hooked4lifeca Thanks for the reply its a pity as Gloomis are missing out on what i would suspect is a significant percentage of the 14 & 15FT market. a lot of people are back on planes travelling abroad to foreign destinations .. travel rods are essential for this . I've had several Gloomis rods , IMX ., GLX 14 & 15ft & pro4x . all excellent rods . but too long for packing into travel cases. :(

    Thanks for the nice review. How would you say this rod compares to the NRX 13 8/9 action and casting wise? And also, have you tried the 14 #9 Asquith?

    • @hooked4lifeca
      @hooked4lifeca  5 років тому

      The NRX is slightly less stiff with the action oriented a little more toward the tip. Both have a very low swing weight and despite the extra 6" of length, the Asquith feels just as light as the NRX. Normally we would notice that extra length, but not in this case. That extra length does give the Asquith the distance advantage.
      I've not yet tried the 14' - 9 wt.

    What reel did you happen to have on there?
