- The Boss DS-2 builds on the DS-1 by adding a second "Turbo" mode, which boosts midrange frequencies just a little bit. Enough to let you cut through a band mix for leads, but not enough to completely change your tone or make your volume jump. That's nice. Let's go deeper.

Haha, thanks. It started out with much grander ideas, then it turned into a “late night talk show going to commercial” kind of thing. Still fun, though.
The turbo mode seems like LED clipping. Little volume boost, a tad more grit and less compression. Very cool
Way cool. Good review. All of the sound samples sounded really nice in the mix. I used to have a DS-2, but most of the time, I use lower gain stuff like Tube Screamers. I have 3 DS-1s. One is stock and the other 2 are keeley mods. I like the Blues Driver a lot which gets a substantial amount of gain, but a more mid heavy EQ. The Boss MD-2 is cool, too for overall boosts in treble and bass and also a little more grit than other Boss distortions.
All great pedals. I haven’t spent much time with the MD-2, but the BD-2 is so darned flexible. I should work that into the next video.
Why is the subs to this channel less then 1000…..cmon people….

As much as I love the Frusciante mode 2 tone, I prefer using overdrives before the ds2, depending on which mid frequency I like to boost. I sometimes like it less pronounced than the cocked wah tone. Mode 1 a.k.a. Nirvana mode is always my go to for this one.
