Fantastic work! One thing I've noticed though is that the jumping feels very "heavy", it's like Rayman's falling velocity is too fast compared to the original :)
Yea, I thought at first that this is due to my gravity formula, but after playing around with some values, I believe I just made the gravity acceleration too high. After making it lower, I think I have something that looks much better and resembles the original game closer :)
This is really great work, my whole family was playing original game when i was child.

Dude, you explain everything so well. I'm really glad I came across your youtube channel. As for your question to the should you explain more about the C++ side of things, I mean to be honest I think your in the sweet zone between too much explaination and not enough explaination so you're doing absolutely fine on that. And your video editing is amazing too, being able to tell your development process while also keeping people engaging is really good man. Glad you also threw in some jokes here and there too. Im glad you also referenced your Udemy course too, I'll also check that out.

He is less floaty because of my gravity formula. My gravity acceleration is linear, while in real life it is not, at least that's what I think is going on. This is something I intend to fix in the future. Now that I think of it, I agree that it would have been a good idea to mention this in the video

It's too much work for me to make the entire game alone, but maybe at some point I will be able to get some help. However, I am still working on this.
Question about ledge grabbing, are you setting each grabbable edge with that collision channel?

Too realistic light, the artistic touch is missing here. I preferred the gradients from the original as here : 1:11
I would go for a compromise, bump up the geometry, add new textures, add normal maps and possibly displacement in places and even parallax occlusion.
As for the light I would look for a sweet spot between the gradients from the original and realistic light. The original has a nicer vibe and it's not too dark in certain places.

Im bad at C++ too, but I didnt really use it that much yet.
It's kinda hard to stick to c++ when blueprints are so much easier, at least in my experience
