- Today on the channel we are playing the cancelled dragonball z game that you never got to play! Thats right we are playing the long thought dead mmo, Dragonball online! Will our custom character be able to save the timeline as a part of the original time patrol or will the other players just embarrass us in PVP. In this Dbz mmo game anything can really happen!

Apparently it isn't as widely known as I thought but yeah, a ton of stuff from Xenoverse is lifted straight from DBO. Time Patrollers, Towa, Mira, all of that came from this classic. There's some crazy post Z shit that happens in this game too that is super cool.
Dragonball online may not have lived for long but its effect on the dragoball franchise have!

Too bad there isn't a Cell X Time Patrol Quest in Xenoverse 2. Never played Dragon Ball Online and yet I'm still fascinated on the story of Cell X and the entire destruction he left in his wake. Not too sure how many defeated him but I'm probably sure it took a lot of people to take him down.
The buu race also came from this game, and i heard that before the game died, there were plans of making a fourth playable race, the Frieza race, which ended up being in Xenoverse as well.
It sucks because i can only wonder what kind of classes the frieza race could have had.

Just like how he was involved with Kakarot. I wouldnt even call it copying, just redoing it to let more people know the world the DBO created.

Unfortunately, it appears Dragon Ball Online Zenkai has stopped it's servers. so Unless Doto were to try another fan made redoing of the game this will be where Macchiato's origin story ends
I tried so hard to play this game back in the day as well. Looks so charming and fun. I would much rather have an mmo style like this than xenoverse.

I think this would actually be a fire spinoff. An Earthling kid who wants to prove himself by getting stronger using the power of friendship. Simple plot but I'd watch it.
I am actually extremely happy to see this type of content, the gem wad how nice people were to you in game and the fact that one of them actually agreed to show you around is something really rare and nice. I wish all MMO communities were like this

What I really like about this is how all the lower levels were kids. So getting all the low level together is like a bunch I of kids getting up to mischief

@@leoultimaupgraded9914 Can't say that I do. In th case of the sleeping one, it's the same hypnosis move Roshi has in FighterZ and original anime to distinguish it at least.

The editing is so funny, Doto on his own has such good comedy but the editing got me laughing even more
the pvp ring gave me flashbacks to spending 50% of my time in this game getting 1 shot by max levels and the other half leveling and grinding unlocks to 1 shot them back one day

I actually met one on my best friends back in the day playing this mmo when i was a teen and im 25 now. We used to play on the Taiwan server and somehow met irl later on since we both stayed in the states. I cherish this game alot. After the game cancelled we kept hopping on the fan servers to see if it'll reopen and within that we kept looking up our gamertags in every fan server site forum to see if we existed. This game was just ahead of its time.
I need SOOOOO much more of this and Amole in my life XD Perfect series. Can't wait for the sequels already lol

As a heads up Doto if you see this. The Zenkai servers shut down so you will probably have to use something like DBO Global since its the next best one if you come back to this game

I played this when it originally launched from Netmarble Korea. Man the hoops I had to jump through just to get into the game....
Had to buy an account that was made with someones Korean SSN then register the account to my own e-mail on a korean site using a VPN so it didn't get flagged/banned.
Once I did all that, I played the HELL out of this game from its initial launch. It was really fun but easily the MOST grindy mmorpg I've ever played. Obviously my latency was terrible too, but it had some fun mechanics like the child/adult thing where at level 30 you could do a quest to grow up and gain access to a whole new set of abilities/classes. If you didn't grow up you could still be really powerful.
The PVP mechanics were really cool too and they had world PVP. Basically there were Dojo's and one guild at a time would have control over it and you would raid it with your guild to try and overtake the dominant guild. The attacks were super cool even though the game itself wasn't overly good. Finding/Grinding for Dragon Balls to make the wish for Super Saiyan form was REALLY hard, but this was how every class got their ultimate transformation.
There was ancient namek= Giant form (like lord slug and piccolo at end of DB). The majins transformed into Kid buu and Humans (which had some saiyan blood) transformed into SSJ which was really cool but it burned your energy super hard.
The enemies weren't very cool. They were mostly characters from early Dragon Ball, also a lot of Red Ribbon Army oddly enough. All in all, it was a fun experience. Koreans were super friendly to us English players and even went out of their way to help us. THere were also language mods to translate a large portion of the text to English which was super helpful as well.
I can't remember the game that well, but I played a Human Swordmaster and a Namekian Warrior but I can't remember what class I ascended to

I live in East Europe and i played this game 3 years ago for a week, and then i unistalled it. I was young and i didnt know back then how precious the MMO games are. 😭

I played it for a very brief time years ago. I don't remember exactly how but it was like some fan translated version but it was SUPER unfinished and kinda half assed lol. I still had a good time with it though and really wanted to play more. This make me really happy to see that people are keeping it alive. This game is what kinda jump started Xenoverse in a weird way because Mira and Towa are pulled directly from this if I remember correctly.
I used to play DBO on the official Taiwan server about 2 years before the shutdown so I heard a lot about groups that would create the private servers before they even existed. Now I play on the private server Dragon Ball Online Global. Personally I only think private servers for online games are bad if they are hurting a mmo that is still alive and trying to survive but with DBO the game was already dead and it is just the love of the fans trying keep this wonderful game going. It didn't really hurt the game or anyone else by bringing it back. After that Xenoverse came out and made tons of money using a lot of the ideas from DBO.

Korean here. If you are wondering about a lot of these shut downs, they had rumors about copyrights that they never paid for. It was those good ol'days when Korea attempted to make a lot of PC games but 90% shut down for profit just because they thought a bigger project could save them.
