Pete Cowen is a golf instructional genius and I learned that pretty much first hand. He didn’t even need to be there in person to guide me through these swing principles because he communicates everything so clearly in front of the camera.
Pete’s very logical a clear explanations of how the forces influence the “feels” in the golf swing are absolutely brilliant. After I went through watching all of the Pyramid of Learning instructional videos he created, I made a concrete commitment to ditch my current swing at the time and purely focus on every detail of Pete’s instructions to construct what would be my new stock swing. It actually didn’t take long (about a month) but it was A LOT of work doing everything exactly as he instructs along with making absolutely sure I was not allowing my old swing memory influence what I was now grinding in. Once I was fully feeling confident in my cementing in the proper positions sequence to the point it felt completely natural without needing to intentionally remind myself to make sure I do this and that, I did the whole “walk up to the ball and swing” thing hitting about 50 balls. The results were FAR beyond my expectations. Now that I have added in the principles of what Pete is describing here for chipping, I have quite literally never played the game of golf at such a high level of skill. I most certainly was not a bad player before I did this whole transformation. But I was sick of the constant adjustments to gain more consistency so I just went for it and went all in. The satisfaction and confidence is now sky high from knowing that, even if I hit a “bad” shot, it most certainly doesn’t take me very far off of a simple recovery on the next shot to save my birdies and pars. When it comes to communicating the proper elements of a mechanically solid golf swing, Pete Cowen is an absolute genius, no doubt. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Tried this technique today and was consistent, great ball striking, effortless, and accurate. Very simple yet effective.

Dear Mr. Cowen, Thank you so much for sharing your lesson on line since I started watching you on the UA-cam, 3 weeks ago I have improved my golf games and understanding how to hits the golf ball that won't give me back pain. I got lower back problem with my L5 dick, I got operation done 12 years ago. I didn't play much golf after my operation. But in the last 3 weeks I be able to go out plays more like over 10 games, and 4 rounds were my golf club competitions. Whatever tee shot, fairway or chipping even in the bunker. Now I can get out from the bunkers. I have so much fun and enjoying my golf game now. Thank you :)

Pete, I just tried your advice on “right side” in the yard with wiffle balls. Wow when I executed correctly it went a mile with that classic golf shot arc, left a correct divot and was effortless! Wow thank you again so much. I could actually feel my swing path and start some basic shaping. Not consistent but it opened a whole new way for me to feel my swing! I see why you are so highly regarded. Bravo!

I'll stick with being vertical, close to the ball, heel off the ground instead of opening the face, & use a putting stroke. Works for me. Obviously different methods work for different people.

Fantastic, love listening to Peter talking about golf coaching, however it pains me to say it the camera work is shock in most of his videos, i want to look at the club head and Peter, its mostly just Peter in the frame!!

What grip should I use?
Paul Runyon was the first to do this ,and was very successful against Sam Sneed to whom the us open.

Talented coach. But who the heck was behind the camera?
Beginner here -- is he saying at time of a difficult lie, to turn the club inwards (as opposed to opening the club face which many chipping videos suggest)?
Ajay. He seems to be saying that when chipping, the club should be held more upright, so it wants to fall more naturally rather than having to be manipulated by the hands or body. By holding the shaft more upright than for a full shot, the toe of the club then becomes the lowest part of the club, which will make contact with the ground first. By doing so, there is less opportunity for the club to get snarled up in the Bermuda grass or a bad lie. Turning the club face in (or closing the face) a little will make the ball come out a little lower, but with a more consistent strike that you can rely on. Being able to produce consistency in golf is vastly underrated. I hope that my interpretation makes sense. Enjoy your golf career. You’ve just taken up the most wonderful sport!
Basically yes. Just keep the same grip as normal but with a slightly closed face at address.
Opening the club face for chipping is probably the most overrated 'tip' out there, especially on bare lies and hard turf - you'll be 'butter-knifing' wedges through the green all day long 😅

Camera work on this is absolutely shocking.

Pete Cowen clearly wasn't paying attention in school physics lessons. The moment you move the the butt end of the club, the head generates a centrifugal force which prevents it from dropping vertically.
Interesting content, but poor sound quality, as well as poor camera work does not pay attention to a legendary golf instructor.

This particular piece of advice was really geared to the worst of golfers. There is so little substance here for golfers who have some basic common sense and experience in this game.
