I disagree with you at some points because am both north and west, but how people in the northern pronounce is quite different from western so not all of them sound as it is thank you.
Guys we spend alot of money trying to learn those alphabets and so we must make use of them😂😂😂😂in Uganda we don't eat letters ,we must say things the way they are lol..I got to learn that lady we speak same languange
True makes her English abit hard to be understood coz of her pronunciation. As western people have difficulty in proper pronunciation. But I love her for her naughtiness 💖💖💖💖💖
Hello, guys good content well done. For Uganda's accent can not be represented by one person because it depends on two aspects, some ones school back ground and their local dialect thats how they will always sound when they speak English.
My partner (from Kenya) and I (American) have done a couple of these challenges, and she still was surprised by some of these words. She’s had me say “mischievous” like 10 times now.
I’m kenyan we say thigh-land too 😂😂😂😂😂 Yes we also say gross-Ery It’s boot not trunk It’s also Harry po- tee 😂😂😂 We have similar accents to Ugandans but also very different at the same time DONT’ change your accent 😂proudly East Africans Yes we also say quota
Uganda has different accent depending on regions, because some one from northern Uganda can't sound like one from western as well as central, so we use different accent in Uganda unless, if you can speak from at least different languages especially form North and Central you can at least sound better but a real Northern or real westerner sounds funny. That lady participating sounds central Uganda and that is the best in Uganda I think. hahaha.
To answer the question about “gas”... In Australia, they call it Autogas, really LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas), a mixture of Propane and Butane. In US, there are not a lot of cars that take that kind, roughly 150,000 vehicles. We also have Natural Gas (CNG Compressed Natural Gas) vehicles; about 175,000 in US. You will find these more commonly for city buses and the like. My town uses CNG powered garbage and recycling trucks. Gasoline, AKA petrol is still king. I’d say there is a larger trend towards electric power for the future.
When she said "in my real accent we say "kattro" (cattle)" she probably meant that she she switches between Rs and Ls which is a very common troupe in Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Eastern Bantu languages languages. I had a Kikuyu teacher for Highschool physics and let me TELL YOU the struggle was REAL. Glass block became Grass Brock. Longitudinal became Rongitudinal. And so on and so forth lol. My man had me tryna decipher every other word he was saying for me to make sense of his lessons but after two years I sort of just got used to him.🤷🏽♂️
Ash's accent is strongly Runyankole - Rukiga, she must have done all her school in western Uganda. Pronunciation of English words in Uganda is strongly influence by the mother tongue and the kindergarten background of learning a e i o u ( a e i o a/oo ) sounding your alphabets. It was fun to listen too!
Hey Guys I enjoyed this a lot : I was born in Uganda _ but grew up in Rwanda _ for years now I live in Southern United States and it’s so interesting how accents can be a thing; and Yes I don’t know how petrol ⛽️ Stations became Gas Stations 😀- Regular- Mid-grade and something Super that’s how gas is served in United States-
Awesome video. Very entertaining and fun to listen to different accents. Aussie girl is definatly saying Crayon wrong (From an Aussie). Oh and I say Almond the way you do Jess. I once order a Latte and my name is pronounced simiar to how you would say Almond, they gave me an Almond Coffee. Hopefully more videos to come
The Australian girl is soooo my kind of humour! Lolest!!!! And Ash and Evan are just adorable...!!! Oh, My!!! All my prayers and best wishes to you too! - Thomas from Uganda.
Actually in Uganda we pronounce according to out tribe accents or school we have attended, our sister is trying but we ain't really that way only that we pronounce a word the way it is we dong chew them and usually never mind about r pronunciation like heart but some where we can be wrong
One's accent in uganda specifically depends on particular area one comes from and Only if you attentively listen to more than one person ,u can tell the difference. That lady must be from bantu speaking group BUT with village style. Easy to relate and respond with bantu in conversation.😄😄
Petrol is a light fuel oil that is obtained by distilling petroleum and used in internal combustion engines. While Diesel fuel in general is any liquid fuel specifically designed for use in diesel engines, whose fuel ignition takes place, without any spark, as a result of compression of the inlet air mixture and then injection of fuel. Therefore, diesel fuel needs good compression ignition characteristics. Lastlygas is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture ... in excess of 1,100 °C (2,000 °F) making it a powerful domestic cooking and heating fuel.
Honestly.. We Ugandans have different accents, basically influenced by your local dialect, social status and education background.. I love 😍 the video though
I am a proud ugandan. I so love the typa english we use. However, the accents we have in our country are different, depending on mostly where u did your primary level from and some times where you come from(as in region) some times matters. So, the accents are different. But.... most of we here in uganda, have the same accent of not eating or swallowing any letter. So, I am really happy 2 see this young lady representing us🥰😍
I like the way how we pronounce English words in Uganda even if you'renot not more educated you can understand one another but American accent is not easy .
I totally agreed with Evan. I was born in the carribean, raise in Montreal, concerning the gas. Here in the U.S there three levels. 1 Regular, Silver and gold. or premium.
There are no gas cars. It's just that Americans call it a gas station and the others call it a petrol station. But its the same thing, we get gas for cooking even at a petrol stn. Plus petrol and diesel for the car as well as kerosene.
gas?, types of fuel at fuel/petrol/gas stations 1- petrol, 2- diesel, 3- kerosine (parafin)- meant for lighting and some modified vehicles and generators, 4- gas this one is mostly for cooking . then we have jet a1 and afgas for planes
Interesting comparisons here. In Uganda my Motherland, a child s L1 affects greatly L2. L1 is the mother tongue normally learnt from childhood and L2 is the English we learn at school. So one's accent depends on one's place of origin and the language the child is introduced to during childhood( first language) . Many Ugandans do speak English accent with effect of mother tongue call it L1.
