@PreppyKitchen John, I am so happy to see you on Food52! Followed your channel for years from the beginning, and it’s so great to see your successes. 🎉
Hmmm... never have seen the Food52 logo on your videos before. Some of my favorite bakers are on Food52, like Erin McDowell, and now you, of course. I've followed you for quite a while, and love your recipes! Thank you for always putting out great content John. 🤗😊😋🤤
It looks lovely, but what happened to the jelly? In the UK a trifle ain't a trifle without a fruit jelly and chilled custard. The jelly absorbs into the cake and makes it soft, gooey and delicious. The custard adds to the creaminess instead of a mountain of cream all the way through. Idk... is jelly and chilled custard not a thing in US trifles?
My in-laws and other Americans I met think custard is old fashioned. So of course my sherry/jelly with custard and cream trifle is now the definitive trifle for them and is reqiested frequently. They get very protective when someone does one 'badly' 😂 like using fru fru liqueur or a big layer of jelly instead of letting the cake absorb it. While I like the fruit combo and the liqueur is delish, this is just gonna be a soggy mess. It's a no from me.
Looks delicious! But not really an English trifle. It's missing the custard, jelly (jello) and lady finger biscuits are more traditionally used than pound cake.

I believe i could eat that large trifle on my own. looks delicious!

John is 🥰😍.
I made this last night and it was outstanding. I substituted Grand Marnier for the Lillet.
Fabulous more Preppy Kitchen content!
I'm definitely going to make this! However, I'm going to make custard instead of whipped cream
Traditionally custard is used for the layers and maybe a bit of whipped cream on top.
How do you pit your cherries and where can I get one of those juicers? Thanks in advance!! Love all your recipes!

Traditionally, a trifle includes a Jelly (Jello) layer but it's not critical :)
Are you in a different setting
He is in food 52 kitchen
