I got some of the softy bits after seeing you use one and I like it much better. I can clench and chew on my pipe all I want when I smoke and I not worry that I'm going to ruin my stem all the time.

+Adam Bybee - I use them more to protect ME from the stem (I can clench quite hard and hurt my teeth), but they also do a great job of protecting the stem as well. I'm glad they're working for you.

Did you k ow that the scoop of the check tool can be used as a small pipe stand, works best for straight pipes. Nice video as usual I’m working my way through your collection

I have 5 large Crown Royal bags stuffed full of different varieties of pipe cleaners. My wife calls me ridiculous for having so many, I still feel like I'm unprepared and worry myself to death for not having enough pipe cleaners.🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

also note if you don't have pipe cleaners just use a paperclip especially if you have a small mini cob it works fantastic its kinda like a corncob pipe cheat code of champions and if you don't have an arartor use a paperclip also

I noticed that you didn't mention the need for a reamer, can I do without?. I have a few short knives here that are small enough for a bowl but they have rather sharp tips. Pipes and stuff for pipes are Extremely rare here in the Philippines. I've just bought my first pipe(an estate), it's made in St. Claude France but with no brand.

I wouldn't call a reamer essential, but it could definitely come in handy down the road.

Hi! I love your videos!! One question: you don't mention pipe filters (like the 9 mm filters I get in pipe tobacco stores here in Europe everywhere). Why is that? Is it because it might differ the original taste of the tobacco, or any other reasons? Isn't it much more unhealthy to smoke a pipe without a filter as opposed to smoking with a filter?

If you don't inhale, a filter won't make that much difference in terms of health risks.

Filters, in my experience, just get soggy and gross and make it harder to swab out a pipe mid-smoke. Some people use them, to each his own. I don't really think it's a health thing so much as a personal preference thing.

Do you use Peterson system stand or premier pipes? I found they are really bulky with rubber bits on, and I can't clench them very firmly.

+Shawn Long - I have a couple of System Deluxe pipes. I find that if you put the bit on right behind the button, it works pretty well.

but make sure you clean the paperclip really well before dragging it out of your pipe cause you don't want the tar being dragged back through

Personally, I wouldn't recommend storing your pipes with a pipe cleaner in place, because it obstructs venting. You might keep one in there for half an hour or so to suck up moisture, but after that I'd remove the pipe cleaner in order to allow air circulation.

I prefer the moisture absorbing quality of the pipe cleaner as opposed to unaided evaporation, but to each his own. Thanks for watching!

I stored my saxophone and clarinet with essentially over-sized pipe cleaners in them for years. Worked well and never had an issue with moisture, so I stated doing the pipe cleaner thing. Glad to see other people do it. I usually wait until the pipe has cooled a bit before putting one in there for storing.
