Hello Sir You have to clean the réservoir before ashing.. If not the moisture gets in the bowl A tissue paper to suck moisture (or q tips, pipe cleaners) and after you can tilt the pipe for the ashing and cleaning Excuse my language mistakes I m French
I am retired and a noob Pipe Smokers. I received my first Peterson System P-lip Pipe today and presently enjoying my first smoke in this Peterson. I was wondering how to clean a System Pipe, so I searched and found your video. It helps a lot. Thank you much. I am an Engineer and also have a case of OCD. I clean my bowl like you. With this being my one and only P-Lip, I must say I will buy another one or two or......
Thanks for sharing your methodology. I’m pretty much using the exact same method just out of blind luck lol. Good to hear I was on the right track. They are a great smoking pipe and one of my favorites.
Greit...now you made me order an Peterson System Deluxe 8s. Thanks for the videos, I am a beginner pipesmoker and enjoying watching your videos. The pipe will arrive next week. :)
I use a q-tip to swab out the reservoir before using the pipe tool to clean out the bowl. If you just go straight to cleaning out the bowl and got the bowl/reservoir spinning around then whatever moisture is trapped in the reservoir is allowed to go all over the place. Swab the reservoir out first with a q-tip to get it dry
Wow. That's "overboard" all right, but certainly not in a bad way! I'm a yuuuge fan of the System pipe (and actually also that bit shape on non Peterson pipes.) I agree they take a bit more maintenance, but, "those who know, know." as far as the gentleness (?) of the smoking is on the tongue. Hopefully I'm not pointing you toward another single-use gadget for your pipe tool box: I use the spade to do a "daily" cleaning out in the bowl - dumping out the ashes between smokes in the same session/on the same day (these smaller pipes don't burn very long - one of the things I like about them.) For that "put it away and switch pipes" cleaning, I occasionally use a spring-loaded reamer to get an even cut to the cake on the inside of the bowl. I'm assuming they still make such a thing: mine is an antique I found in an estate collection of (wait for it) estate pipes. The advantage of that over a knife or spade is that you get even pressure against the sides of the bowl and won't end up with an uneven cake. Just a few twists and you're done. BUT - this is something that doesn't have to be used frequently, just if you look to be getting a lopsided cake. I don't see a practical use for this tool until the cake starts building up, unless you prefer a pipe with NO cake inside, and want to clean it back to the wood.
Thanks Bradley, enjoyed the video. I am a long time Peterson system pipe smoker. Your video was right on! One thing you might cover in a later session is cleaning a meerschaum gourd pipe. I smoke one from time to time. After several years, its time to do a full cleaning, as the gourd itself becomes a bit "goopy" and it has to be cleaned. A video to cover that cleaning I thing would be helpful for a lot of smokers, whether new or seasoned. Cheers! Really enjoying your series..
Hi! Like your series! It seems to me that todays Peterson Sytem Pipes come WITHOUT this funnel-like metal CONDENSOR at the end of the stem? Do you know if especially Peterson System Deluxe AND System Spigot come still with? Thanks!!
Thanks for the video.... Was very helpful I am also a big fan of the system pipe but I find there's not a large selection of them and I don't believe that all Peterson Pipes have the system which I'm finding out any tips where to find a large selection well thanks again love the videos keep them coming
+Pipes And kayaks - For the most part, only Peterson Pipes that are called "System" pipes use the Peterson System. Smoking Pipes has a good selection: www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/peterson/index.cfm?tag=277 - www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/peterson/index.cfm?tag=12 - www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/peterson/index.cfm?tag=1233
Thank you my friend I enjoy your videos they've been very helpful to me I really appreciate it keep the good videos coming and thank you again peace and health to you
+James Cobb - Thanks for watching, and I'm glad I could be of some help! The "deep clean" is definitely something I was thinking of covering. I'll try to get something up soon!
Hi! Like your series! It seems to me that todays Peterson Sytem Pipes come WITHOUT this metal-sting? Do you know if especially Peterson System Deluxe AND System Spigot come with? Thanks!!
Bradley, great video as usual. I'm having a problem locating Deluxe system pipes. I can only find the standard system without the aluminum or horn stem insert. I called Somking pipes and pretty much they confirmed the only system available is the original system without the end piece. Has the Deluxe system been discontinued perhaps? Love your vids. Ralph
Hey Bradley... I'm new to pipe smoking, my question is... should I buy a peterson system pipe? Right now I have a La Rocca Roma 04 pipe. But I'm searching for another pipe.

Still the best system cleaning video out there

love the series! i want a peterson now! i am really into my corn cobs right now with custom stems...but looking to venture...
I'm a big fan of them (obviously). I don't think you'll be disappointed if you do venture into Peterson territory.

+Michael Hammell - That's definitely a good idea for a future video. I don't actually own a gourd pipe at the moment though.
Sick rickenbacker mate
Thanks for sharing your feelings and thoughts ... experiences ... greetings from New York
Thanks!
The cutaway looks like a poster you would find in a urologist’s office.
Great video bud. My method for cleaning my system pipes is almost exactly the same.
Some people NEVER clean the system reservoir and then wonder why their pipe is smoking poorly. Maintenance is key!
I finally gave in a bought a Peterson Deluxe System 12s, appreciate this video and content, cool smokes Bradley.
I hope you enjoy it!
That's great. Thanks so much. Already gave them a call .
I have a standard system 317 and it didn't come with a condenser should it have one?
Nice video on the Peterson pipe. Love them.
Yes. Every Peterson I've owned has smoked pretty well, and some have been amazing smokers. Thanks for watching!
Hello, Great video. Could you tell me where I can find one like that? I am new to this, and the options are endless and confusing

This guy really knows how to clean his peter.

+Cristian Garcia - Well, it's up to you, but I think they're good pipes.
How come you don't use any grain alcohol solution?
Lick my rag, good name for a metal band. Thanks for all you do very helpful
What model was that on this video?
Don’t you just love the smell of your fingers after cleaning your pipe? Hahaha! I kid. It’s gross, but necessary.
