What I love about Holy Bible era live Manics videos is that they made the pre-Holy Bible songs sound more aggressive and totally fit them in with the era of the band.
Sounds great here with Richey high in the mix and the entire gig is the most confrontational and aggressive i`ve ever heard from that era Manics. When they come back after the middle 8 they`re rocking that much that they speed up almost twice as fast. Fucking ferocious.
Manics at his best moment, James with his sailor suit, Sean´s beret, and the military clothes on Nicky and Richey. An incredible rage and attack in the music, with Richey´s guitar plugged in the songs sounds better
@@oliverharper7411 .... yeah man, very choppy sound on that Telecaster!! Agree , they should’ve had him at least audible! I saw them in Cardiff Astoria in October 94, thankfully with Richey and I don’t think he was turned up too much in the mix then? Mind you that was my first gig and many years ago now! 😬🤯
This is peak Manics, I was just 13 at the time and just saw the channel 4 coverage (far superior to the BBC’s) and had a recording of it on video which I watched to death. Somebody build me a Tardis so I can be in that crowd and see it for real! ❤️🔥
Ironic as Nicky Wire's mum would later spend a great deal of time and effort (unsuccessfully) trying to stop a bypass being build through a wood near Blackwood.
Haha the look James gives Richey for accidentally knocking his strings during the intro! along with Nicky's comments, he must have been feeling pretty pissed off
OblaDiOblaDa yes photos of a guy who looks scarily like richey Edwards that have appeared on Facebook. i have the photos too. exactly what richey wanted to do perfect escape.. i still think it's him.
I've read in their biography that Edwards actually was mortified when he saw footage of the gig on BBC with his guitar that loud. But sounds perfect raw punk though, both Edwards and Wire famously couldn't play their instruments.
Richey was throughout his life too hard on himself. This gig is my favorite because of how full the guitars are. If he stuck around and got better over a few years at guitar, Manics would have been even more massive.

It's great that you can hear Richey's guitar playing on all the Glastonbury 94 vids. He'd really improved since '91.

Peak MSP. Richey & James in sync guitar moments almost brings a tear
Featuring the infamous Wire quote at the beginning "I say build some more fucking bypasses over this shit hole".
I remember that.
God i forgot what a really big bitchy mouth he had on him in the 90's 😂
always thought the band sounded better when they turned Richey's gtr up.
I kinda like it because it sounded kind of rough and edgy in a way.

open notes work with this one.
👏👏👏
Fucking love Richey’s playing here so loud and raw
Amazing JDB 1000% Everytime

hahaha, James is such a brilliant guitarist
What a great live band they were, saw them live in 92 and 94
Edwards playing is much better than before he really did practice more
He's just playing a few power chords here, entry level stuff. Still an improvement by his standards though!
Ironic as Nicky Wire's mum would later spend a great deal of time and effort (unsuccessfully) trying to stop a bypass being build through a wood near Blackwood.
Ironic you say that as it was meant as a joke.
after richie disappeared the manics sound also changed you can feel the sadness in their music after their second record.
The third record was written mostly by richie
Haha the look James gives Richey for accidentally knocking his strings during the intro! along with Nicky's comments, he must have been feeling pretty pissed off
@wildebest I assume it's around 0:30. You can hear the strings being knocked. James' looks behind him.
its like 'I've got to play this facemelting intro and you two have to just stand there and...oh ffs'
Lol Nicky Wire was always saying crap around this time.
whoever said richey never played live listen to Glastonbury 94!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear him.. the man in the woods 😉
The man in the woods??
OblaDiOblaDa yes photos of a guy who looks scarily like richey Edwards that have appeared on Facebook. i have the photos too. exactly what richey wanted to do perfect escape.. i still think it's him.
hey, could you tell me where to find those pictures?
Jaun DieIEGo hi i have it are you on Facebook?
Richie is really in the pocket during the verses here!
I remember seeing them here amazing times and can’t believe they didn’t take speed or summit as they are playing with such ferocity and um speed…….
What a riff !!!
The "infamous" Nicky wire quote
The totally ignored one
This is fucking amazing.
I live you James

wire is a pretty competent performer it seems, he just never wrote any of the music in the early days

Everyone says Nick can't play but I've played bass for most my life and I think he's just fine
James Dean Bradfield Fucking Brilliant 🎸🎸🎸🏴🏴🏴
Glasto 94 possibly their peak?
Richey could well play guitar
I don't know enough to comment on Richey Edwards' guitar playing, but it's a much better sound WITH it. Throw another aspect of his loss on the barbie
So much for all the bullshit about not turning Richey up. He's loud and clear here 💙❤️🖤
James Dean Bradfield 💯💯💯🎸🎸🎸🏴🏴🏴🥁💰🥁
Sounds like a punk band
Were they in a hurry to complete their set ???
180 mph 😂 poor sean
And James subsequently embarrassed intro to the song?
I've seen The Light and know I am The Buddha.😃😄😅
