Kings and Generals' historical animated documentary series on the history of Rome continues with an episode of the post-Caesar Civil Wars, as we look at what happened after the initial shock of Caesar's assassination. Previously we talked about the battle of Mutina and its aftermath ( • Post-Caesar Civil Wars... ) as Octavian, Antony, and Lepidus created a triumvirate, taking over Rome, which signaled to Brutus and Cassius, that there will be another civil war ( • Octavian and Antony: t... ). The latter collected their legions and started building their base of operations, leading to the battles of Xanthos and Rhodes ( • Battles of Xanthos and... ), and that, in turn lead to the battle of Philippi that would decide the fate of the war between the Caesareans and Pompeians ( • Battle of Philippi - P... ). After Philippi, Octavian and Antony basically divided Rome between them. In this episode we will see what was happening in the western part in 41-40 BC as Octavian had to deal with a number of enemies and crises, which culminated at the Perusian War where Caesar's heir was forced to fight Antony's wife Fulvia and his brother Lucius ( • Perusine War - Octavia... ). On the other side of the Roman realm, Parthian-Pompeian alliance led by prince Pacorus and Quintus Labienus invaded and forced Antony and his lieutenant Publius Ventidius Bassus to defend in West Asia in 40 BC ( • Pompeian-Parthian inva... ). Back west Octavian finally decided to attack Sextus Pompey in order to take over Sicily leading to a number of battles, most notable among them at Mylae in 36 BC.

Sextus Pompey has been holding to Sicily against the Cesareans for so long, that one could be forgiven for mistaking it for an independent nation at this point.

Octavian may have sucked at military stuff, but he sure knew how to find the right people for the job

I love badass Agrippa was. This dude was a magnificent general, a great scholar, an engineer, an efficient governor, somehow an excellent admiral even though he didn't have much naval experience... this dude was the living embodiment of master of all.

Octavian was pretty good at military tactics but... I kinda helped a little.

I'd love a whole video on the life story of Lepidus. He's always a side player in these videos, but he seems like he was a survivor. He made it to age 76, which is a lot longer than most Roman emperors.

If a fund is guaranteeing returns, you should show extreme caution. Investing isn’t some get rich quick scheme. I encourage anyone looking to do investing go to r/robinhood and look up people who have experienced losses and are near suicidal at having lost their life savings, down payment savings, or the college fund they wanted to set up for their kids. So it annoys me when a respectable channel like Kings and Generals pushes some concept like “investing in fine art”.

Will you do the civil war between Sulla and Marius in the future? I think their civil war is an really interesting topic that really needs more coverage on UA-cam

I am a long time follower of Kings and Generals and this channel and many like it, has been an amazing source in educating me about ancient warfare and history. However, I have been disappointed that many of these respected channels have been advertising shady products like MasterWorks, which to me sounds like another form of NFTs, preying on human ignorance. There is another product, and I apologize in advance if it wasn't on this channel, where you can buy a paper which (supposedly) makes you an earl in Scotland
