Mu’awiya once said “by Allah, it’s easier to move the firm mountains than to follow abu bakr and umar”. The rashidun took the caliphate as a responsibility rather than an honor to them. They ruled with piety and justness that later empires failed to match.
In their reign you could see unarmored soldiers trampling two empires because of unity and fighting for one cause and not wealth and equipment. It’s impossible for any empire to match the rashidun caliphate because they firmly believed in Islam and followed the prophet’s footsteps.

It's the same story with all empires. The founders and initial movers of that empire had a solid foundation based upon faith and then through hard work they become successful and resilient . The generations that proceed this do not have the same motivations and fortitude.
General john glubb wrote a Paper about this called 'the fate of empires' it's a good read if anyone is interested. It's a possible explanation but I wouldn't say it's the explanation (just one of the best ones I've come across).

Ignoring the religious aspect of it there's important historical aspects as well. As for Yazid,he was really a very incompetent ruler despite gaining his experience fighting in anatolia.
He was a man full of insecurities stemming from the fact that a number of the Prophet's companions refused to Giver their Alliegance to him, despite some of them actually choosing to do so.
Muawiyah wanted to give his son the Caliphate under the fear that the people of the Levant (Damascus especially) wouldn't accept a leader from outside the Umayyads,as they grew accustomed to them flourishing in their forty year rule under Muawiyah.
He was harsher with those who refused to give bay'ah in comparison with his father, sending men to both Ali and Abdullah Ibn Zubayr.
When dealing with Hussain's rebellion,He didn't follow the Rebellions updates as he should've,and in that in the End resulted In Hussains death.
Something that he wanted to avoid despite his rebellion.
During the Talks between Ubaydallah and Hussain,he was initially proposed to go to the Yazid, either to hold a border area in his name or allowed a return to Mecca,or to just pledge alliegance, which he reluctantly accepted after a while.
The problem was that Ubaydallah grew overconfident and heeded the advice of Shimr ibn Dhi'l Jawshan, who advised him to force Hussain Into submission under his personal authority, resulting in the breakdown of talks and Hussain's death.

Well that is partly true, but you Muawiyah was also a powerhungry theif. He broke his teaty with Ali and his sons multiple times. Even if some sunni muslims like to suger coat it, Muawiyah was a political genius but not a religious one. He killed and slaughtered, not in the name of islam but his own gains. I find it quite interesting how Ali and his sons are just the polar opposite of the ummayyed rulers. Let us not forget how the ummayeds was the tribe that fought Muhammed. Many theories that the Uthman, Muawiyeh, yazid conflict against Ali was just revenge against he prophet Muahmmed because he took power form them, 60 years earlier.

      You're quite evidently a Shia.
This 'conspiracy' idea doesn't exist anywhere but in Shia histories which are quite unreliable.
Uthman was one of the first to enter Islam, and he made the two hijras (the one to Abyssinia and the other to Medina) and married two of the Prophet's daughters and contributed heavily to the Muslim expansion, and in their stay at medina.
While the conversion of Muawiyah and his father came late,It was still authentic and Abu Sufyan really gave the rest of his life for Islam,he would marry his daughter to the prophet, let Muawiyah become a writer of the Quran under Muhammad and help in the conquests of the levant.
Many reports record the prophet asking Allah to guide Muawiyah.
Muawiyah refused to give Bay'ah to Ali because some of the people who participated in Uthman's murder were in Ali's army,he wanted them either executed immediately or delivered to him.
Upon Ali's refusal, the fitna between them started,Ali refused because he needed to consolidate his power as a Caliph before making such moves, and that time they had a notable presence in his army and their immediate execution would hurt his position,as well as the identity of Uthmans killers were unclear.
In the view of Ahlu'l sunnah, they were both great men.
Ali being Far greater than Muawiyah,as he was the prophets cousin and followed him from early on fighting on his behalf.
We also believe that Ali had the right of it during the fitna, and despite muawiyah's error he was still a good man,as the prophet prophesied of Hassan's fate during his life, saying that he would reconcile between two great Parts of the Ummah.

@@azizbey4334 you are looking at it from a sunni respective again. Muawiyeh executed multiple supporter of Ali, companion which were Muslim. And the people who died in siffin, who is responsible for them. In Islam, when two people have a conflict, one is wrong and the other is in the right, especially in wars. So who is responsible for the deaths in siffin? Ali or muawiyeh. And don’t tell me “no one” that is so ridiculous and against what the prophet and Quran taught. Accept it, muawiyeh was politically smart but in no way religiously correct. More of a drinker of wine and enjoyer of worldly desires, polar opposite of Ali.

You Lie against Muawiyah,he was never a drinker of wine.
And I already told you that Ali was right, but that doesn't allow you to slander demonise a companion of the prophet.
The sunni's follow a more reliable criteria when recording past events and hadiths, and it is more true to reality,we don't see it as a pure good vs pure evil where we show one side as the embodiment of the devil and the other the quite opposite like it's a kids story, such as the Shia who greatly demonise the Umayyads or Abbasids or anyone else,we belive that the companions have their rights and wrongs.
And there's another matter, who was right in the fitna doesn't mean the blood of all the combatants that died is on the other, for they all had their judgements (Ali and Muawiyah) when they started the war and they both knew the consequences, they will both be judged by Allah on the day of judgement on what happened in this period,in the end this is a fitna, the outcome would be bad whatever happened,as many companions and believers would die because of it.
There was a reason many of the companions abstained and never fought in the conflict.
Muawiyah didn't execute people for their mere support of Ali,instead he actually accepted many who were previously under Ali's banner into his own.
And held both Hassan and Hussain in high regard in his 20 year reign, and when he committed acts frowned upon by the Islamic society he owned up to his mistakes, such as the execution of Hijr and some of his Companions,he continuously attacked his Governors in Iraq.
Many different companions spoke of Muawiyah's piety.
And if I'm looking at it from a sunni perspective, then you're looking at it from a Shia one.

Yes, it’s true, there is no right or wrong when it comes to HISTORY but not religion. It’s funny how in your books you say Ali r.a taught muawiyeh r.a. How is even possible that two people that are companions and therefor good be part of a battle which killed thousands but still not stand for consequences.
Than yes, literally in this video that you just watched, they mentioned how muawiyeh killed a companion of Ali just because of his support of Ali. Your not lying to anyone but yourself.

Husayn R.A could not have won. It was prophised during Prophet Muhammad Sallah Alaih Wasalm's time that Muslims would form factions/fiqahs and if he did, then this would not happen. Shias and Sunnis were two of those fiqahs that eventually divided into more.

Also in terms of practicality, that would create a fixed ruling class, making democracy a completely foreign concept in Islam. But due to that war and that outcome, we can say democracy is favored, as the hereditary kingdom of the Ummayads was also overthrown. It means anyone can be the leader of a Muslim country no matter what their family background or race or ethnicity.

@@jhonshephard921 Since when Islam was a democracy ? From the Umayyads till the Ottomans, it was always more or less hereditary. Even if Hussain succeeded, there would be factions because that is just human nature. Umayyads never forgot the murder of Uthman so, unless Hussain had wiped out the whole Umayyad clan, factions would eventually happen in the imaginary scenario. You don't need prophecies to determine that lol

The previous Arabs won Syria and Persia by attacking the so called 'irrelevant countryside' and forcing the Roman and Persia to engage Arabs in open battle and get defeated.
Now under Ummayad they focus on Constantinople while Anatolia is still firmly under Roman hands and the Arabs fail to take Constantinople.
